I'm hoping so. I'm trying to say exactly how I feel without going overboard on raping this album, but I'm sure there are those out there who consider anything negative about this to be blasphemy. I just hope people will understand what I'm saying and at least give my perspective a chance.
Jake, theres a switch up near the Play button (in my version anyway)
that looks somthing like: o Pattern o Song
Allright, thanks. It took me about 2 seconds to find now, heh. Hopefully I'll finish it up tonight or tomorrow, and have it uploaded for you all to point at laugh at. NP: Radiohead- Electioneering |
how much does this matter to you and what you think?
It doesn't matter to me, I would just prefer if my review didn't turn into a flamefest. |
To any Australians here, you guys heard of Baterz?
|
not I, more info?
|
Maybe I read over it and missed it the first time, but ShadowsFallen: what album are you reviewing that you fear a flamefest will develop?
|
He's an Australian Folk artist.
Since his CDs aren't available anymore (Actually, they never were, he only released one album, and sold the CDs himself), I'm wondering if I can upload? I really like his guitar work, he can be a bit whiny on the vocals sometimes, but it's all good stuff. Plus, he's from Canberra (He's dead now :'() I'm pretty sure he was in a band with the guy from Good News Week (If you remember that pwnce show!). |
Jom- A Trivium album.

Yep, it's Trivium - Ascendancy. Please, everyone give it a read and determine for yourselves how well I did. :) http://www.musicianforums.com/sputnik/album.php?reviewid=3798&genreid=12 /shamelessly whores review |

I agree. I thought I wrote this review pretty well.
|
I mostly disagree with the review, but I agree the style is a little bland. Personally though, I love the riffs on that album, and the vocals.
However, there needs to be more reviews showing negative aspects of albums. If you go to sputnikmusic.com and read almost any review, you don't get enough of the bad aspects of the albums, and let's face it no album is flawless. I think people need to see these flaws in reviews, instead of just those lame little pros/cons list that don't really ever favor the cons. And for showing the flaws in that album, I give many props. |

Yeah, a system where you can only go up is no fun. :p NP: Dredg- Bug Eyes |
I think because of the way sputnik works, it will never truly be a reliable source of reviews and information. Because it's completely volunteer and open to anyone, we have 100 people who only review albums they like. Consequently, we have 100's of reviews which are all 4-5 star ratings. Nothing is balanced, it's all dominated by people who only go to what they like. The only way to really make the site reliable is to have a desginated team of reviewers that covers all genres instead of making it open to anyone. But since that will obviously never happen, we can only urge people to balance things out and hope that users start to do things more professionally.
|
For some reason I can't get into Bug Eyes because the guitar riff in the beginning is kind of annoying to me and when the drums come in I just go, "crap, chang it".
|
Yeah, I really can't stand the intro either, but I still like the song. I have yet to find a Dredg song I dislike, actually.
NP: The Tanbark is Hot Lava. I like the 9/8 bridge section. So cool. :-D |

Nobody posted in my thread :-/ And to those who asked, Coldplay were descent live. Chris Martin hit all the notes, and was pretty fun to watch, but it was at a huge arena, and I just dislike concerts like that. I like going to small clubs to watch bands, it feels more personal. |

well MX, I am back from the dead.

Yeah, I'm guilty of this; but it's only because I have a look to see what reviews I can do and I notice that alot of classic albums (to the more extreme genres only though, because that's the only rock/metal I really listen to) that haven't already been reviewed. So when I end up reviewing things I give them good reviews because I really think they deserve it. Out of the 11 reviews I've done, only 2 are under 4 stars but I still stick by my opinions. I remember when I first started drinking I drunk straight vodka (because it was cheap). I've built up a decent resistance to the taste so I can drink it straight, I'd just rather not. |

These volunteers review albums they bought or downloaded themselves after some research, so it's most likely to like them very much. They're not magazine reviewers to receive random free promos they might not like and write negative reviews about them. Still nothing is flawless, so it would be a good idea for these reviewers to be a bit less excited and more objective and try to see things from the position of a reader who's not familiar at all with a band. What I dont understand is why would someone write a positive review about an admittedly classic album. There's really no point in it. |
At the end of the day, a drink is supposed to be a pleasant thing. Unless your entire family was just killed by marauding dingoes and you want to drown your sorrows as swiftly as possible, or you're a student, there's really no justification for drinking cheap vodka straight. It's like all the pressure on a martini to be dry. There's no point drinking a cocktail that hurts, so if you're new to martinis, chuck in plenty of vermouth. |
