br3ad_man 03-24-2008 07:38 PM

I'm digging some High on Fire this morning.

iarescientists 03-24-2008 07:42 PM

Cursed - III
Rites of Spring - End on End
Portrait - Discography
Harvey Milk - My Love is Higher Than Your Assessment of What My Love Could Be

Zebra 03-24-2008 07:44 PM

Boredoms - Visions Creation Newsun

The first song is my least favorite. The stretch that lasts from the second to the sixth track is gold.

YourBiggestFan 03-24-2008 08:46 PM

HUM- You'd Prefer an Astronaut
They really liked Flanger. and I'm still digging that Shout Out Loud's album.

Liebensaft 03-24-2008 09:30 PM

Gave Spiderland another good listen today. I should do it more because the songs still blend together in my head, but most of the album has gnarly jamming that I really like. I want to differentiate those jams.

YDload 03-24-2008 10:56 PM

i think all the songs on Spiderland sound quite different to me

Happymeal 03-24-2008 11:02 PM

Fleet Foxes - Ragged Wood

Don't know how this jumped to #3 on the RYM charts all of a sudden. Sounds really good on first listen, but it's something I'll get tired of after a few spins. Their singer sounds exactly like My Morning Jacket's

Anxious 03-25-2008 01:16 AM

Spiderland isn't about the jams. Its about context of the jams, and the space that connects them together.

samariah 03-25-2008 06:39 AM

its all about space and time

Anxious 03-25-2008 09:24 AM

Space is here, time is now

seamantis 03-25-2008 09:31 AM

Ive been enjoying Pink floyd- piper at the gates of dawn. Matilda mother is amazing.

Anxious 03-25-2008 09:42 AM

The whole album is amazing.

Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti- Scared Famous

Love this band.

Anxious 03-25-2008 12:40 PM

sweboy 03-25-2008 12:44 PM

Citay - Little Kingdom
The whole album is amazing.

agree

A Dead Modernist 03-25-2008 12:59 PM

Arcade Fire - Neon Bible
Algernon Cadwallader - Some Kind of Cadwallader

I'm finally starting to warm up to Neon Bible. I used to not be able to stand it, even though it was really good.

ATM 03-25-2008 01:16 PM
Citay - Little Kingdom
A Dead Modernist 03-25-2008 01:48 PM

Say Anything - ...Is A Real Boy...Was A Real Boy

iarescientists 03-25-2008 02:09 PM

Moss Icon - Lyburnum (Wit's End Liberation Fly)

I wasn't really impressed with this when I first listened to it a while ago, but subsequent listenings have made it awesome

Bukowski 03-25-2008 03:14 PM

man i love Moss Icon. Even more than Rites of Spring probably.

digggging:

The Durutti Column - The Return of the Durutti Column
Fire Engines - Lubricate Your Living Room

really enjoying these just now, esp Durutti Column. Had heard them both a while back but they kinda passed me by, didn't get into them much back then. Loving them now though, Durutti Column is some amazing dreamy guitarwork, and Fire Engines are a pretty good (Scottish!) post punk band...more experimental than Josef K/Orange Juice were, but great in their own right.

asdf 03-25-2008 03:16 PM

Cat Stevens - Mona Bone Jakon

sweboy 03-25-2008 03:17 PM
Is that new?
Yah it's pretty new, late 2007. It's pure California sunshine, with guitars.

seamantis 03-25-2008 03:19 PM

os mutantes- os mutantes

That bit about Moss Icon being better than RoS is blasphemey.

But I love those other two records. You should definitley get Lips That Would Kiss by the Durutti Column. Its up there with Cocteau Twin's Treasure in terms of dreamy atmosphere.

yeah I plan to get some more Durutti Column now, definitely.

Slowdive - Pygmalion

This is one of my favourite albums now...very different from Souvlaki, it's so haunting and chilling, full of subtle effects and strange walls of vocal echos. I love the way they use strummed acoustic guitars with the weird droning noises in the background, it's like a more accessible version of Flying Saucer Attack. Sigur Ros were probably heavily influenced by this.

Eliminator 03-25-2008 04:19 PM
