I know who you're thinking of..there is some other band called The Flaming whatevers, probably the Flaming Homosexuals but they're an emo band all the girls in my school like.

Broken Arrow 03-10-2005 07:08 PM
Yea, but I wouldn't call them jazz. Just to somewhat correct you.

<---best avatar i've had in awhile

Polyphonic Spree - Section 12 ((Hold me Now)
It was good sounds like Wilco with a mix of Mellow. Do you have anything more psychedelic and exotic?

Walrus Gumboot 03-10-2005 08:04 PM

Ha.. I saw that episode of the Simpsons today when Marge says "do you know CPR?" and Homer says "I see a Badmoon a'risin..." NO! That's CCR!

Yep Yep. That's funny. Simpsons usually incorperate Classic Rock jokes into there shows.

jpj 03-10-2005 08:10 PM

I mentioned Addison Groove Project in here before and everyone ignored me!

The Polyphonic Spree song was the song they played on MTV and I hated it, but I like it now.

What Wilco have you been listening to? They sound nothing like Wilco. I wouldn't even go as far as saying they are relatable to A Ghost is Born, but whatever. Just my opinion I guess.

Heh heh. I look sarcastic.

Freedom is the album that you are looking for.

That Light & Day song?

It kinda gets old fast just because of MTV.

No, Section 12 or whatever. They played it at the MTV Music Awards.

Badmoon 03-10-2005 08:43 PM

Here's a cool song, it is one of my favorite live songs.

David Wilcox was a singer/guitarist, mostly in the eighties, although his first album (1977) was his best. You might know Do the Bearcat or That Hypotizin Boogie. I mentioned him the other day.

Spectrum 03-11-2005 09:38 AM

Heh, some guy just started a thread called "CD Collection" in which he proposes to stop d/l CDs and start buying real ones. This was my reply.
Everyone deserves/ought to have in their collection:

Radiohead - OK Computer (best album of the 90's? Possibly)
Rush - Moving Pictures
Rush - 2112 (Epic genius)
Led Zeppelin (pick one you like. or two. or five.)
The Beatles - The White Album, or any other
Pink Floyd - DSotM
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Pink Floyd - The Wall
Yes - Fragile (four of their greatest songs, all on one CD)
Yes - Close to the Edge (prog masterpiece)

These may not be your style, but I believe these to be essential recordings. To have at least experienced, anyway. With most of these, you have to give them more than one full listen to fully appreciate them... which is not a bad thing, in my book.
I like my list. :D
^they have yet to prove to me they don't suck and gain my respect. and their one song is not up to classic rock standards...
The Darkness?!?! They are horrible.

Spectrum 03-11-2005 11:06 AM
The Darkness?!?! They are horrible.
Indeed, I am not a fan of theirs. And "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" is certainly not up to Classic Rock standards, as was stated earlier.

Jet and The Darkness are NOT bringing back Classic Rock. There is a difference between playing in a style, paying homage to something, integrating something into your sound/songs, and ripping something off. Unfortunately, we mostly see the last one, and most of the time the second one occurs, it kinda sucks (see: "Behind Blue Eyes" as covered by Limp Bizkit)

Bartender 03-11-2005 11:14 AM

I picked up a pair of Grateful Dead albums the other day. Hurrah for me.
(see: "Behind Blue Eyes" as covered by Limp Bizkit)
That pissed me off so bad. That, and Britney Spears covering the Stones.
