I find both those albums over rated up the arse.
i agree with u about the wall but LzIV it has stairway, black dog, rock n roll, misty mountain hop, going to california, the battle of ever more but besides that i guess ur right

JonG 06-25-2005 07:27 PM

LZIV is the most overrated Led Zeppelin album. What are you talking about? You have no clue either, When The Levee Breaks beats all those mainstream songs.

Fixed.

The Wall is much better than LzIV imo, but its still really overrated, not as much as LZIV though.

Badmoon 06-25-2005 08:42 PM

I don't like the The Wall; quite patchy and inconsistent if you ask me. I may even prefer L.Z. IV.

Illmatic 06-25-2005 08:45 PM

I'm not too keen on Led Zeppelin IV or The Wall...both Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd have much better albums.

White_heat 06-25-2005 08:47 PM

Anyone like Soft Machine or Egg?

PinkFloydFan082692 06-25-2005 08:48 PM
Pink Floyd > Yes

Duh, but their still pretty good.

Illmatic 06-25-2005 08:49 PM
Anyone like Soft Machine or Egg?
Haven't heard of them.

or are they songs/albums?

Either way, upload some, plz.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 06-25-2005 08:51 PM

Why do Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin always get mentioned together? There 2 completly different styles of music so why should both be brought up when another is mentioned? It's really unfair to compare the 2 IMO.

White_heat 06-25-2005 08:52 PM

Ummmm.....

how do you upload

just in case you where wondering they are an avant-prog bands.

Its because they where equally famous during the same decade and a lot of people that like Pink Floyd like Led Zeppelin.

Its still unfair

They're two of the five biggest classic rock bands of all time (along with The Beatles, the Stones, and the Who, I'd imagine) and were contemperoraries for the most part (in that they released their most celebrated work in the 1970's).

I don't understand why, but that might be it.

Not really. It just is. Anyways, the two are usually mentioned together by casual classic rock fans. The kind of people who listen to Slipknot, but also buy Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin shirts to stay legit.

I don't like either of them that much but I do enjoy Soft Machine Vol. 1 & 2 every once in awhile.

One has amazing lyrics, great vocals, slow spacy psychedelic prog kind of sound and well the other has a screamy bitch as their singer, horrible lyrics, granted a great guitarist but one that steals songs and claims them as his own, a trashy hard rock kind of sound.....I mean they have nothing in common! They should not be compared.

I never said they should! I am merely playing devil's advocate here.

You forgot to mention that Led Zeppelin is more worshipped by noobs than Floyd are (even though amateur potheads swear boy Floyd too; it gets annoying).

strat-o-matic 06-25-2005 09:34 PM
ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?

This is the thread for general classic rock discussion.
kindof.......lots of beatles fans, some led, no who. alot of weezer fans which kinda annoys me

whoa opinionated post.

haha.

people do it all the time. like with the grunge stuff? alice in chains, pearl jam, nirvana, and soundgarden all have no resemblance or a passing one at best in sound. yet they get lumped together. i would suspect that its the same with pink floyd and zeppelin. same time era, both are extremely well known. etc.

Illmatic 06-25-2005 09:54 PM

Who else loves "Can't Find My Way Home" by Blind Faith?

Such a beautiful song, and fun to play on guitar.

Their all argubly in the same genre. Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin on the other hand aren't even close to being in the same genre. It's outragious.

RockAndRoll 06-25-2005 10:19 PM

I think people are too hard on Plant. You guys should all give his new album a listen.

Better example (imo), the Meat Puppets and the Minutemen.

:)

It is actually his best work since "fate of nations" IMO.

Ive been on a diehard Cheap Trick, Free, and Sweet binge latley. I think all that Black Oak Arkansas and Grandfunk Railroad music ive always loved has came around once again hehe.

How can you not be harsh on a singer that looks and sings like a extremly ugly woman who writes horrible lyrics?
How can you not be harsh on a singer that looks and sings like a extremly ugly woman who writes horrible lyrics?
Even uglier now, considering he's practically 60.

theyre only "arguably" in the same genre because stupid people insist on grouping them together.

or you could take badmoons example. i dont think its outrageous. it just happens.

anyway, i can stand plants voice in a fair number of zeppelin songs.

Tr00f. I don't mind Dylan's voice, but Axl's is soooo annooooyying and ssccreeeechy.....

It annoys me when somebody refuses to listen to an artist because of their voice. I've tried to get my sister into Neil Young and Tom Waits, but she refuses, just because of their voice.
