Right in 2 is the best song on this new album for me. The pot is second. Also good.

deadohiosky9 04-22-2006 11:11 PM

np: Jambi

Right In Two is the best song on the album in my opinion. Jambi is damn good though, it's grown on me a lot since my first listen.

Killtacular 04-23-2006 12:38 AM

In regards to the 2 second gap between the tracks, that's where someone's ripped a burned copy of the album to their computer. When you burn a cd (for some reason) it puts a 2 second gap between every track. Then when you rip it, it becomes a part of the song.

RideTheSpiral 04-23-2006 12:58 AM

The crappy solo ruins Jambi for me.

My favorite part of the album. :)

the solo rawks... like the solo of lateralus

Huber 04-23-2006 01:07 AM

The solos in Lateralus are so well done.

Nah haha Im just kidding.

So I downloaded the album, because me and my (he too a huge Tool fan) wanted to take advantage of being able to hang out tonight and listen together and exchange comments and stuff.

I'm not finished yet, but everything it good stuff so far.

sexymuffin 04-23-2006 01:46 AM

Alright, i just downloaded and am now listening to the album.

I haven't posted in here, but i've lurked and ive been pretty excited about this album and now i have it to listen to.

So far vicarious is sweet and jambi is pretty cool too. Just got past the solo. I'm really liking how they seem to be going back to more of an Aenima sound kind of. Maynard's voice has improved as well.

PeEpHoLe_10 04-23-2006 02:27 AM

what are the lengs of each song please?I downloaded the new album at my friends just then, and it goes over the cd limit...

<mIkE> 04-23-2006 03:46 AM

I love vicarious, its a nice combo of alot of the lod stuff... enjoying the rest of the album tho.

circlethedrain 04-23-2006 03:47 AM

vicarious was def. a great choice for a single

Well. It was the only good song on the album.

circlethedrain 04-23-2006 03:56 AM

I like 10,000 days (wings pt.2) a lot, and their are some other good ones just not amazing.

That was just noise though. The Pot was the worst though. The vocals were so annoying & it was very lyrically immature.

circlethedrain 04-23-2006 04:02 AM

The Pot grew on me, but i agree the vocals on that track should have cut through the mix more.

The intro vocals were the worst. Once into the song they weren't as bad.

<mIkE> 04-23-2006 04:22 AM

latalarus is still the best as an album, just sticks to me you know

I agree it was a bit lyrically immature, but so was Hooker with a Pen!s and that was a good song.

The only album that didn't have a song like that was Lateralus. The perfect album.

I just listened to Wings for Marie. I usually skip this song, because I saw at as a useless intro to 10 000days(wings pt 2), but it's actually very good as a song on its own.

I actual can withstand Hooker With A Penis.

imo, The Pot>Hooker with a Penis.
The Pot is nice and funky and long.

But they both have some immature lyrics. But I would say The Pot is a bit more immature. I never saw Tool coming around singing about Pot. Reminds me of Afro man.

Afroman =/= Tool

Afroman > Tool

It's really this whole thing with Maynard. People hail him as this "deep thinking" brilliant lyricist. He's not. Just because you try to act "deep" and write lyrics that make no sense doesn't make you a good lyricist.
He has this whole, bash the government, drugs, anti athority etc etc. Complaing isn't original, mature or interesting. If you have such a problem with something, act. Go out there and help correct that, if you actually care that is. Don't whin & complain. Act.

Prince of Darkness 04-23-2006 05:37 AM

I have 2 interviews with Maynard and that's very interesting. He can be a good lyricist, like on 10 000days(wings pt 2) and Third Eye. But it looks like they want one song every album where they can be angry and show it. If that includes crappy lyrics, so be it. But overall imo, he writes some nice lyrics.

My point is he vastly overrated he is when it comes to that.

There are many bands/artists in many genres that are leagues over anything he could write.

I hate to bring CoF into this. Dani Filth writes excellent lyrics. He truely masters language and song writing. Dark yet beautiful.

Not a big CoF fan, but I can see what you mean. MJK is probably overrated because of all the MJK fanboys. He's like a God to some people and he's misleading them. I think out of the whole band, he's the least creative 'deep thinker'. Danny Carey is a very spiritual man. Maybe he can write some good lyrics.

I think Carey is the most skilled in the band. I think he's overrated much of the time though he's a very good drummer.

The bassist is solid and does some catchy stuff.

MJK is for Tool what Lars is for Metallica.

Both are bands would be better off without them, yet collapse without them.

nicely said. What would Tool be without any of the members? Paul d'Amour wasn't that cool and Justin was a good replacement and he came at a good time. I don't see any of the guys leaving any time soon, but that would be disasterous.

btw, are APC still together and will Maynard return?

RideTheSpiral 04-23-2006 06:18 AM

Maynard is Tool. If you don't think so you're stupid.
