Blonde Redhead- s/t
Holy crap this is better than I remembered. Like a melancholic Unwound. |
ok i need that as well
|
I really should check out Unwound.
Blonde Redheads - Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons Blonde Redheads - Misery Is a Butterfly Del tha Funkee Homosapien - I Wish My Brother George Was Here Cap'n Jazz - Analphabetapolothology |
I just realized who much Leaves Turn Inside You probably inspired Blonde Redhead on their last 3 albums. Its uncanny.
samariah, do you have La Mia Vita Violenta? I might as well upload it while I'm doing the s/t. http://www.mediafire.com/?g6tozltedif |
Alcest - Souvenirs d'un Autre Monde
why did this get so much hate its not awful like people said, its actually pretty good. |
Because they used to be black metal.
|
Pretty much.
Meat Puppets I'm seeing them today. This is a 5 year long dream come true. |
I'm digging some really tight comps I got from my aunt's friend.
|
Codeine - The White Birch and Frigid Stars
last.fm streams rule. it's like RHP with actual dynamics, although the songs start to sound the same after a while. still good stuff. |
Grinderman - s/t
|
Hüsker Dü - New Day Rising
|
Crooked Rain Crooked Rain
|
no, dude. not at all. |
If you're serious I don't know what you're talking about.
|
how are they similar at all?
because they both like using those arpeggiated riffs, even though Unwound always is playing with dissonance where as Blonde Redhead stopped, especially in their last three records. maybe, in Blonde Redhead's early stages when they basically sounded like a poppy Sonic Youth, yes.. but 'Misery is a Butterfly' and '23' have nothing in common with Unwound. |
The way BH transitioned to a more layered, subdued and dropped most of the dissonance is comparable to what Unwound did with their last album. I'm talking about overall approach. Yes, Unwound have always been more complicated with song structures and riffs than BH, but I'm looking at the big picture.
|
they both list Sonic Youth as an influence?
i'd be surprised if Blonde Redhead even knew who Unwound were if they haven't played shows with them. |
Unwound's bassist played with them on Fake Can Be Just as Good.
|
I remember reading an interview with Blonde Redhead...they were asked who their favourite band was overall.
Guess what? Unwound. I am digging Ooioo. |
I can't find the exact interview, but I did find this...

Fugazi - The Argument
I like this a lot so far. They seemed to have matured a lot by their last record. |
Jens Lekman - Oh You're So Silent Jens
|
The Dead C - Harsh 70s Reality
Love is so epic. |
Vinyl Stickons - Thirteen

The Fall of Troy - s/t
|
Lightning Bolt - Wonderful Rainbow
|
The Dead C - Harsh 70s Reality

The Harold and Maude soundtrack on vinyl. It sounds so amazing. Best gift I've ever bought for my mom, or probably for anyone.

Nice one. Listening to lots of Converge this week. |

I remember listening to these guys a million years ago on like, purevolume or some crap and thinking they were an amazing combination of inventive guitar lines, prog rock and emo. Either I'm more jaded now or their recent output just hasn't been up to snuff, but I now see them as the ugly ritalin bastard child of Coheed and Cambria. I still like this album, though. It reminds me of better times from them. Right now I'm listening to the Shout Out Louds- Our Ill Wills. This is a great album that got lost last year and was promptly forgotten about, which is a shame considering it's a great fix for anyone who has ever loved the Cure or any of that Sweedish pop that stopped being cool about ten minutes ago. |
i believe it's spelled 'swedish'

they got significantly less interesting with later releases. |
I've really been digging elvis costello, doobie brothers (michael mc donald era), cat stevens, black keys, etc, etc.
|
Off Minor - The Heat Death of the Universe
Sun Kil Moon - Ghosts of the Great Highway |
