Can someone explain your honour system? We don't have anything like it.

Get money - fuck bitches. |
We have two local breweries in town so good beer is never hard to find.
EDIY: like Nilfheim said we Canadians have good beer, its not weak like your American water which you call beer
Wait a minute there you stupid Canadian. Americans brew great beer, but not on a mass scale. (All the mainstream American beers : Budweiser, Coors, Busch etc etc) Every state and region has good microbrewerys that either make beer on a small scale or on a medium scale where they send it out to the few local states. For one, I don't know about other states, but Oregon has a high amount of medium sized microbrewerys and small time ones as well. The small time ones are every where in downtown Portland. And the bigger ones like Widmer, Pyramid and Dechuttes send their beers out to all of the west coast and they make quality Hefeweizen/Porters/Stouts/IPA's and various Ales. There is a healthy community of beer enthusiasts and microbrewerys in America to cancel out the crap they mass produce. |
I watch a lot of shows about beer. Food network rules.
|
New Belgium brews are pretty good such as Sunshine Wheat, 1554 (fav), Trippel, etc
Coors owns Bud in many ways. Black Dog Ale (not the honey rasberry ****) Montana's micro brews are some the best as well. |
Rum is for women. Real men drink beer, or whisky.
Ha. American whisky and American rum are both meant for women, as is American beer.
What is the difference between vegemite and marmite?
Both are yeast extracts, but they differ in the other ingredients. That's why Vegemite is more bitter (and manly) than Marmite. Ignore Happy, he's a Pom (and therefore bad at cricket). Yeah that's right, I'm acting superior to the English now also.
Is it even possible to find good beer in the U.S.?
Actually, Yeunglings isn't too bad.
Can someone explain your honour system? We don't have anything like it.
American Honours is different to Australian, but both are different to what I've heard of your Honours system, so I'll explain mine. Aussie Honours are done after completing your undergrad degree. They take a year (full-time) and you pick a project to write your thesis on. You also take several classes. In a Bachelor of Science (my degree) which is 3 years, Honours is highly recommended to everyone who has a credit average or above.
Do you consider Captain Morgan to be American? |
Honors in America is the upper part of the graduating class.

Tricky question. When I say American, I usually mean the US, even though I know I shouldn't tar the whole of the Americas with the same brush. Even though they're now an American company, they're based on a Caribbean recipe, and named after a guy from Wales, so I guess you could say they aren't a US rum. Not in the sense of Jack Daniels Kentucky Fried Rum with 11 Secret Herbs and Spices.
EDIT: Oh wow, Diageo bought out my favourite rum maker, anyway. :( Bundaberg Rum isn't even Aussie owned anymore. In any case, Bundaberg Rum is another sugar-cane based rum, if you're interested in buying a bottle (dunno if the US imports much). |
Ugh, you have such bad taste in beer.
How's that? No Fosters in that list? I enjoy a vast amount of beer so lets share...What would you describe as "good" beer? |
Jack Daniels is whiskey....
|
Jim Beam > Jack Daniels

I see, but both sound awful.
Actually, Yeunglings isn't too bad.
Not available in Sweden, I don't think.
American Honours is different to Australian, but both are different to what I've heard of your Honours system, so I'll explain mine. And after doing your Honours, you can do apply to a Master's programme? |
Jack Daniels is whiskey....
Jack Daniels make rum, I have seen it. And add Jim Beam to the list then.
How's that? No Fosters in that list? I enjoy a vast amount of beer so lets share...What would you describe as "good" beer?
Foster's is Aboriginal for "Water that flows from a sick koala's penis". Only Yanks are stupid enough to drink it. I enjoy XXXX Gold and XXXX Bitter, Crown Lager, Steinlager, BitBurger, Cascade Premium, Amsterdam Lager, Pilsner Urquell, Guinness, Carbine Stout and Yuenglings. I've sampled more but I can't remember the names, as I was rather drunk at the time.
I see, but both sound awful.
I'm bringing several jars with me to Europe. Watch out.
So you don't write a thesis or some kind of larger paper or report as an undergrad, then? You can graduate with a full degree without doing Honours, but you must complete Honours first before going on to post-grad study, such as a Master's or Doctorate. |
Haha, no I completely agree about Foster's.
How bout some Dead Guy Ale or Obsidian stout?
Have never tried them. American ones? |
Have never tried them. American ones?
They're American, but still rare to see in America. |
I believe so, but I could be wrong. I guess Im just sharing beers I enjoy to provide conversation.
As far as the Montana's brews go, Driftwood and Riverboat are very dark and tasty as well. Not MT brewed, but Snowplow is good too guitrguy: Go to Albertsons. I would almost gurantee you'll find those |
I'm bringing several jars with me to Europe. Watch out.
I will keep an eye on those jars. They won't come near me.
No. You write your thesis as part of your Honours. You can graduate with a full degree without doing Honours, but you must complete Honours first before going on to post-grad study, such as a Master's or Doctorate.
Then I understand. I thought you had to write a thesis as a part of your Bachelor. |
Nah, though I am not sure why they did it that way. It's not too bad for Science, which is a 3 year degree, but 4 year degrees like Education and Psychology suffer if they choose to do another year for Honours.
|
Have never tried them. American ones?
Dechuttes makes the Obsidian stout and it is great stuff. Also Widmer makes the Snowplow, and that stuff is bad tasting for it being a stout. |
guitrguy: Go to Albertsons. I would almost gurantee you'll find those
Albertsons are just in the west. |
Can someone explain your honour system? We don't have anything like it.
Honors distinctions are related to how high your scores are in your classes. I think like an 85% would be normal honors, then 90% is high honors and 95% is highest or something. Those numbers are probably wrong though. There are also honors programs which vary from school to school. The one I'm doing requires extra course work and a thesis. |
Albertsons are just in the west.
Which is why they carry Dechuttes brewery and Widmer Brothers stuff heh. New Belgium Brewing is also another good beer maker in America, especially their Fat Tire beer. |
Jim Beam > Jack Daniels
truth be told, and i dont really like whiskey (bad experience after drinking almost an entire 5th). |
Albertsons are just in the west.
Really? I did not know that. Sucks to be you :p Bobo: I admit it is a bit much, but its one of those that you can chill and sip on. I felt the same when I tried Full Moon (Blue Moon's seasonal) and Never Summer. I actually find Fat Tire to be their worst brew too. You tried 1554? |
Albertsons are just in the west.
No, they're all over here. We live by at least two. |
