Well, I must admit, there are some American comedies that I like to watch.

House (doesn't really count because Stephen Fry is in it and is the funniest part of it)
The Simpsons
Futurama
Hogan's Heroes
MASH
Happy Days

However, British comedies pwn all.

Black Books
Blackadder (every series)
Dad's Army
Coupling
Mr. Bean
Red Dwarf
and many more...

Jom, how in the world did you post that in this thread?

(Jom is the only one who will know what I'm talking about, so if you're not Jom, don't worry about this post).

The Jeffersons
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Plus Seinfeld and Frasier will own anything else on that list.

Frasier is only good for a nap.

Illmatic 08-07-2005 09:09 PM

The only time I'd ever watch Frasier would be if...

Well, I wouldn't watch Frasier.

I don't like South Park, but I watch Seinfeld daily and it's hilarious every time.

Endless Obsession 08-07-2005 09:21 PM

Family Guy was funny, but the new episodes havent been living up to the old ones.

So, I have to fill out a new form for my goverment's student allowance, since they decided to cancel me again.

Anyways, one of the questions looks like this:

Note: The following question is optional. You do not have to answer this, it will not affect your payment. Answering will allow us to improve our services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

Please tick one:

Are you of Aboriginal []
and/or Torres Strait Islander []
descent?

Note: If you are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, you may be elligible for ABstudy. Call Centrelink for further information.

It's amusing how much irony is in that little part...

You forgot FATHER TED, which while totally irish in every way, was on BBC4.
Those may be good, but cmon man. Simpsons owns all of them.
While the simpsons are class, they have NOTHING on black books, father ted, or Red Dwarf (or about half of the black adder episodes).

I did, and I thank you, because I haven't seen my girlfriend since June 30th. I probably divulged too much info.

NJMetalMeister: Please drop it...I can't see this possibly ending well.

oh come on its just a bit of fun. What is MX without drama anyway?

The reason I ask is because I've never seen any British comedies (except The Office, which is pretty good) and I don't think many other Americans have (you lived in Europe, so you would know), so what it boils down to is us Americans loudly shouting about how great our sitcoms are, while all the British users loudly shout about how great theirs are, and that's not very fun.

Endless Obsession 08-07-2005 10:28 PM

Isnt Office Space based of some British citcom?

well that is not necessarily so. For example, PBS plays quite a few britcoms, and with digital cable becoming more popular in the in the US daily, it makes BBC america more available to the masses, its just that most of them cant be arsed to watch it. I mean BBC america plays blackadder for example about 4 or 5 episodes daily, father ted and im alan partridge on saturdays, and comedy central used to even air black books.

jpj 08-07-2005 10:30 PM

I've never seen any of those shows on BBC America :( I have seen Red Dwarf on PBS though.

Could be based on The Office, but I don't know.

And how many people here watch PBS or BBC America on a regular basis?

NJMetalMeister 08-07-2005 10:33 PM
I've never seen any of those show on BBC America :( I have seen Red Dwarf on PBS though.
father ted is 2:30 PM EST saturdays, Im alan partridge is saturday nights around 10 or 11 i forget (alan partridge is one of the funniest characters ever created by the way), Blackadder seems to be on whenever footballers wives isnt (which is a terrible show, ignore footballers wives at all costs, so the brits can make crap too), and if you like father ted at all, the guy who plays father dougal, ardal o'hanlon, plays in another comedy, My Hero, which is 2:40 each weekday on bbc amerca, not as good as father ted, but still better than anything else on at 2:40 in the afternoon.

Because Im almost positive at the beginning it says "based on 'the office' or something like that". Maybe its Dilbert comics im not sure.

The only citcom I have seen on BBC America is Monty Pythons flying circus. Thats always on. Its pretty funny too, I love John Cleese.

NJMetalMeister 08-07-2005 10:37 PM

thats why i said most cant be arsed

jpj 08-07-2005 10:37 PM

Yea, they had a Monty Python marathon awhile ago. People with digital cable can order it for free, so you can watch Monty Python all the time

Illmatic 08-07-2005 10:40 PM

Monty Python is a little too "absurd" for me.

I do believe it was based off a comic about the character Milton in the movie from my understanding.

Correct me if I am wrong on this one.

NP - Symphony-X - The Accolad

Get to see these guys live in about a month, very awesome.

Oh, I remember seeing an animated thing on TV with Milton. For some reason, I think it was on SNL's TV Funhouse, hmm.
