Yeh thats sounds cool. It's gonna be huge though :thumb:
i'll help out with what i know.. (need somthing about Steve? i'm the guy  )

Lord Abortion 11-30-2004 07:03 AM

yeah I know most of the history myself
even tho im not in your authority....

Josh 11-30-2004 07:12 AM
There's three reasons for that:

1. It's their poppiest (to the extent that it's less then 4 minutes (I think, not all versions) and only has one guitar solo)

2. It's the song that got them onto Top Of The Pops

3. It was their first single with Bruce Dickenson on vocals, which added something fantastic to the band.
actually running free was the song that got them onto top of the pops (charted at 34)

Thunder Fingers 11-30-2004 07:24 AM

Dudes... i just heard the screams of the roadie who broke his arm at the end of Sign of the cross at Rock in Rio..(mostly becouse i was listening for it..) that was 'kin freaky.. if you use Sourround on it you hear it quite good, its when bruce joins rest maiden at the scene(when he starts singing again at the very end of the song) he was supposed to come up on an somkinda platform with wings, but somthing went wrong, and the plat form landed on the arm of an roadie and broked it.. didnt know how many who knows about this from before but ****... thoose screams... :upset:

Lord Abortion 11-30-2004 08:01 AM

gonna listen for that
**** man...

Thunder Fingers 11-30-2004 08:03 AM
gonna listen for that
**** man...
if you look closely, you can see the wings of the platform behind nicko through all the song.

Lord Abortion 11-30-2004 08:08 AM

was it the ed hunter tour when Bruce sang that suspended from the roof with huge angel wings?
that was in the maiden biography

Thunder Fingers 11-30-2004 08:09 AM

Probaly the same thing yes, but this was on the BNW tour :p

Metallicasthebest!!!! 11-30-2004 09:06 AM

What song do you guys think is better.....The Trooper or Number of the Beast??

ashman 11-30-2004 11:28 AM

The Trooper and NOTB both have good points:

Trooper:
Gallop Rhythm :thumb:
Twin solos
Chantterific chours
Great Sextuplet riff
Great song to sing when going into battle

NOTB:
Great intro, second only to SOTC
Simple Power chord verse
Great song to "mosh" to
Great twin solo
Great camp chaos video :thumb:

I can't choose though.

you see Bruce in the Flaming wings on the out of the silent planet video, I really wish it was on RiR... :(

Lord Abortion 11-30-2004 11:29 AM

personally the trooper

that's a ****ing difficult choice

ashman 11-30-2004 11:41 AM

I that vote is easily in the bag for HBTH name...

Another Victory for the Justice League....I mean Maiden Thread :thumb:

Lord Abortion 11-30-2004 11:43 AM

haha!

*white man jumping high five*

GurS 11-30-2004 11:48 AM

indeed

also, if you listen to 'back in the village', when bruce sings "i see sixes all the way", you can here Steve (probably) whispering "six six six"

ashman 11-30-2004 11:54 AM

It does sound like Steve, so it must be him...

GurS 11-30-2004 11:58 AM

indeed.

steve has a terrible voice :( yet he tries so hard

ashman 11-30-2004 01:55 PM

true, poor guy. I'd prefer him to have a bad voice to being a bad Bass player and Song writer.

Thunder Fingers 11-30-2004 02:08 PM
ah well, works fine with out them, you get a man doing screaming backing vocals with out fitting the music instead, works just fine :p

Thunder Fingers 11-30-2004 02:09 PM

what? I love That raspy, struggeling backing Vocals....

*Ruuuuuun to the Hills!*

ashman 11-30-2004 02:23 PM

He should have been lead vocals for Run to The Hills, I'd like to see him do that Bruce scream...

ashman 11-30-2004 02:26 PM

I still can't hear that bloke with the broken arm scream....

/sadist

GurS 11-30-2004 02:31 PM

i'll have to lookit 2moro

OK, new question ya'll

favourite Camp Chaos vid.

Mine's the trooper

Lord Abortion 11-30-2004 02:40 PM

I like flight of Icarus or Run to the hills best for vids
but flight of icarus (the song) is not one of their best
rtth has a kinda star wars-y thing going on in the video
and steve CAN'T sing ...
but who cares!?!
he's the best bassist and songwriter in the world!

Josh 11-30-2004 02:44 PM

ive only seen the camp chaos video for run to the hills, quite random
ive seen videos for 2 minutes to midnight, number of the beast, wicker man, can i play with madness and bring your daughter to the slaughter
on 2 minutes to midnight when bruce is headbangin (well sort of) it looks like hes got a wig on because of how his hair sort of bounces

airborne50caliber 11-30-2004 02:45 PM

love when it goes "his wings turn to ashes to ashes his grave"

Lord Abortion 11-30-2004 02:46 PM

yeah it's overplayed though and I just got sick of it...

GurS 11-30-2004 02:48 PM

i <3 flight of icarus

Lord Abortion 11-30-2004 02:59 PM
i <3 flight of icarus
Me too I just don't as much as I used to...

Josh 11-30-2004 03:01 PM

i havnt listened to it in a while...ive always quite liked it. even though its not a particulary fast song

GurS 11-30-2004 03:07 PM

the best bit is the outro solo

Josh 11-30-2004 03:08 PM

yeh that outtro solo is amazing

GurS 11-30-2004 03:09 PM

indeed.

the original icarus vid > camp chaos

Lord Abortion 11-30-2004 03:10 PM

foi is played a hell of a lot faster live...

GurS 11-30-2004 03:12 PM

tru say

Josh 11-30-2004 03:12 PM

havent seen either vid...theres a pic of nicko filming the vid in his big cloak thing in the piece of mind insert

GurS 11-30-2004 03:19 PM

tru say

i like that :P

Lord Abortion 11-30-2004 03:21 PM
tru say

i like that :P
he has such a typically Nicko grin on his face :)

*gets gurs' post*

:amaze:

Josh 11-30-2004 03:22 PM

probably all the orginal videos are better than camp chaos ones...cartoons bug me

and in the wicker man what the hell is bruce swinging around his head?!?

GurS 11-30-2004 03:23 PM

i should SO dress up as nicko for halloween.

I'd need to bash my face into a brick wall a few times, though.

GurS 11-30-2004 03:24 PM
