So I guess the Tool CD is definitely coming out in June of this year! Can't fvcking wait!
where di you hear that?

Sleeper 03-02-2005 03:20 PM
Please, don't even hint about this being true. :upset:
Well i dont think anyone wishes that in this thread, But it could be a reality.

Rounder 03-02-2005 03:44 PM

i have heard that the guys and maynard are finally getting together soon, since apc is on hiatus. Ive heard that Apc is done with maynard, that that may move on, but that is probably not true.

If you have winamp, you can go to the winamp.com videos section of the media library, and under hard rock you can see videos for passive, and a remixed version of a song of 13th step. Forgot the original name, but the remix name is counting the bodies like sheep (yea that one). It kinda has an eggs of satan feel to it, but the video is really good.

I have nightmares about this being Tool's last album, Ive heard maynard say in different interviews about the future, all he says is 'i dont know, Tool is what Im doing right now'. I definately see an end coming, who knows though. Its been a fun ride for sure.
"I was at the 96.5 K Rock Tsunami Relief Concert last night and I was completely awed when Maynard walked out to sing a few songs ... and I have to add did a wonderful job at it. The irony is that outside before the show some guy from K Rock was interviewing people outside (we were one of the first 10 people in line for the show) and he asked me if I could have anyone sing for Layne who would my dream "replacement" be and I of course answered "Maynard from Tool". We both laughed like yeah right in a cold day in hell. So I was very surprised when my dream came true. I just wanted to let someone know that it kicked *** and I really enjoyed the whole show. I really miss Layne and Alice in Chains will very obviously never be the same now that he's gone but last night was really awesome and Maynard did him right."
from Tools main website.. thought is was cool as hell Maynard singing for Layne. Layne has alwyas been an influence on me and i miss the music,

BlindWriting 03-02-2005 04:11 PM
A question I've been meaning to ask... was Maynard a lieutenant (sp?) in the army? If so... LK... Lieutenant Keenan... even if he wasn't one, it still could be that.... interesting...
That's interesting, I don't know what Maynard's rank was while he was in the military. It would follow the tradition of Maynard–named songs, such as "Jimmy" and "Maynard's Dick".

TheSubtleArts 03-02-2005 04:13 PM

i heard some songs from that concert, i thought he did especially well on "man in the box"

D3ATH of a NATION 03-02-2005 04:19 PM

I heard that the Tool CD is coming out somtime in the late Spring Early summer because all the music is recorded already. They are just waiting for Maynard to put the vocals on.

Darkness 03-02-2005 04:23 PM

Then you heard wrong, as they are still writing.

conciousuniverse 03-02-2005 04:44 PM

Man in the Box was my favorite.

In other news,
Has everyone read the Jan. Newsletter?

My uncle found this out from his friend and told me. I don't know if this is true but he's a producer who I believe is in the know. Other Tool fans I know have said the same thing too.

Around June.

clearvision 03-02-2005 04:47 PM

Well i have heard that they will tour in july which would back up your calim, however my source was not V reliable, we can but hope i suppose.

Kage 03-02-2005 06:14 PM

If they're still writing, I have serious doubts that it will be out by June or July. Unless they're just doing it where they finish a song completely, record it, then work on another song.

back to the front 03-02-2005 06:22 PM

Hopefully it comes by June. Waiting gets old, and makes fans get ancy.

Kage 03-02-2005 06:23 PM

As long as they deliver a quality album that's worth waiting for, I don't mind.

back to the front 03-02-2005 06:27 PM

^ True. But it would be nice to be done waiting...and be enjoying the music.

Dr. Jake Destructo 03-02-2005 06:40 PM

True, but then again, I have some Tool material to catch up on anyways. I have Lateralus and Æima, but I have been thouroughly blown away with both. So, I don't really mind if they get their new album out now or later. I have quite the list of albums to purchase that have been released this year. Frances the Mute, whenever Meshuggah's new one comes out, SoaD's albums, etc..

NP: Mahavishnu Orchestra-Celestial Terrestrial Commuters. :cool

EDIT:  I thought this was the community thread for a second.

Kage 03-02-2005 06:40 PM

Of course. The only thing that bothers me is this period of waiting; the one where we know virtually nothing except that there will be one and *sometime* soon. I like when there have been details released--the final stretch.

Dried Muffin Remnants 03-02-2005 06:48 PM

Yep, I'm waiting on a lot of albums too. Mars Volta being the shortest wait.

Kage 03-02-2005 06:50 PM

NIN, Deftones, Tool, Cold are the main ones for me.

Dr. Jake Destructo 03-02-2005 06:53 PM
Yep, I'm waiting on a lot of albums too. Mars Volta being the shortest wait.
Came out yesterday. :thumb:

To Kage, I know exactly how you feel. The bad thing about knowing when an album comes out is the fact that the release is garunteed to get knocked back about 6 months. Take SoaD's new album(s). The original release date was scheduled for November 21. Currently, the release date is May something. :irritated:

Oh well, I have become less of a SoaD fanboy due to this extended wait, which is probably a good thing, amirite?

Dried Muffin Remnants 03-02-2005 07:11 PM
Came out yesterday. :thumb:

I know! But I have to wait 'til tomorrow. :upset:

I thought that I could just take my time and pick it up today, but they were out.

Dr. Jake Destructo 03-02-2005 07:17 PM

Do you think Walmart would carrie Frances the Mute? I don't feel like driving outta town to go find it, so maybe I'll swing by the biggest corporate black hole to see if they have it.

Dried Muffin Remnants 03-02-2005 07:19 PM

I doubt it.

no, they only have very mainstream music from what ive seen there

siva_chair 03-02-2005 09:31 PM

Hopefully I'll be able to get that cd tomorrow. I've been waiting for a new Mars Volta cd for a long time.

Dr. Jake Destructo 03-02-2005 09:34 PM
no, they only have very mainstream music from what ive seen there
I agree, however, I did purchase my copy of OK Computer there. Granted, Radiohead is a more mainstream band than The Mars Volta, but still, they are a less infamous band than Tool, which I could find none of at Walmart. Then again, I wouldn't buy anything by Tool from Walmart, due to their faggy censoring policy.

BlindWriting 03-02-2005 09:46 PM

First, I read the guy's post.
Second, I read his user title: "Banned."
Third, I laughed.

lol. Ipods suck anyways. :thumb:

Dried Muffin Remnants 03-02-2005 09:52 PM

/off topic
I have an iPod, it's great quality... Problem is, after while the charging does not yield as much listening time.

Unbe--fvcking--lievable, huh? They censor a fvcking rib cage! That's right, Walmartians, Walmart censors the rib cage that Adam created on Undertow. Happy shopping! Losers.

Not only do they censor the cover, but the content as well. They don't even offer uncensored material. What is this world coming to? :upset:

**** Walmart.

^^:lol: irony ++

Darkness 03-02-2005 10:28 PM
**** Walmart.
+rep for that comment :thumb:

Kage 03-02-2005 10:42 PM

Why would you shop at WalMart for CDs anyway? They can market whatever they want. It's not like the uncensored versions can't be bought. If you don't like it, don't shop there.

Dr. Jake Destructo 03-02-2005 10:46 PM

I actually have a good reason. I just turned 16 about 2 weeks ago, and I am getting raped by the gas expenses, and Walmart is the closest place that carries cds, and the closest place that I know would have FtM is 45 minutes away. Maybe this weekend I'll go with my mom up there. Well, anyways, thats why.

What's the use offering only editted CD's when you can buy DVD's at Wal-Mart that have profanity and violence on them? I guess they figure that only children listen to music.

I would like to see an edited DVD. Like on TV, when she show rated R movies on ABC or something. Quite funny, because they try to dub in words. As for why they censor the music, it's just a gimmick, and it works quite well.

Dr. Jake Destructo 03-03-2005 12:15 AM

I bet they sell condoms there. Again, irony ++ for being a "family store."

opeth_oasis 03-03-2005 12:16 AM

kombucha, it makes no sense why your banned

Corganschild 03-03-2005 05:32 AM
But children don't listen to music. At least not music that requires editing. They have to only offer edited cd's because it's a "family" store? I dunno. Walmart is queer.
That's not true. I was 11/12 when I listened heavily to Guns n Roses.. ok maybe that's not a child, but hell I started watching MTV since I was in first grade, and who's to say I wouldn't have bought tapes if I could have? :p

Another thing, though, is that they allow sexual references to be made in songs (and even my overprotective mom didn't mind that) however they cut out the curses.

Werny 03-03-2005 05:32 AM

Here's another thing to think about - VIDEOS

What do you think, with the increased length of the songs, the videos will be like (if there is videos)?

I think they'll be more computerized, since Tool made lots of money off Lateralus and thus will have better technology for the matters. There'll still be the odd bit of clay though.

Another thing, I had a freaky nightmare the other night, I was running away from something (didn't know what it was) with little people running with me, and then one of the people from the Schism clip was standing behind me eating one of the little people. Scariest thing I've seen in ages (it was very unexpected).

Why not just use amazon.com? Or any other site like that?

they do
