Id really like to see Megadeth do Take no Prisoners live I'd be drooling the entire time, love that song, man. Oh and Angry Again... am I alone on that one?
If they played Take No Prisoners I think you would try to be defending yourself from being passed around like currency, the pit would be crazy during that song.
Come to think of it, Victory's another song I think we should cover. The solo is to die for.
Yeah the solo is amazing and the riff is easy too.

It sucks there's seats at PNC...

RustedPieces 06-16-2005 07:51 PM

Oh yeah that reminds me, I'm going to Gigantour Sept. 3rd. Second last show in North America. Plus I got floor tickets too so I'm going to try to get way up at the front.

MAthiAS 06-16-2005 07:52 PM

That's awesome, you'll probably see Anthrax instead of Dream Theater :D

RustedPieces 06-16-2005 07:53 PM

Yeah well I want to see Dream Theatre really bad. They have a 90 minute set but they could probably only do like 5 songs

Pantera in Chains 06-16-2005 08:49 PM

Just wanted to share with you all that I saw Megadeth on friday and they were ****in awsome it was a shame that they only had like a 50 minute set (it was at the Download festival in Donington), I had heard that Glen wasn't really handelling the job but I'll tell ya he was awsome and Dave has recovered remarkably from his arm injury he's even better than he was. And Dave didn't waste any time, they tried to play as many songs as they could and Dave hardly spoke at all just in the end. From beginning (Blackmail the universe) till the end (Holy wars...) it was such a great and solid show. And just to make you a little more envious ;) the day after I saw Anthrax and the day after that I saw Slayer. It was a blizzfull experience... there was so much more, Apocalyptica, Lamb of god, Black Sabbath, Motörhead, Velvet Revolver, System of a down and Billy Idol :D they were all ****in great and what a surprise Billy Idol was he was ****in great and the guitarist really surprised me in a good way.

Arise II 06-17-2005 06:57 AM

Does Bily still play with Steve Stevens?

Pantera in Chains 06-17-2005 03:07 PM
Does Bily still play with Steve Stevens?
He rejoined Billy a couple of years ago, which is great cause he is a pretty decent guitarist, he really shined at this show. They did a cover of Van Halen's jump which was awesome.

Jev 06-17-2005 03:18 PM

Megadeth should've headlined

RustedPieces 06-19-2005 06:38 PM

How's the covers? Any drum or bass tracks get done?

MegaMustaine 06-20-2005 08:07 PM

Being in the Megadeth Thread, Megadeth would have had to been thebest of all those.

Endless Obsession 06-20-2005 08:23 PM
Megadeth should've headlined
Megadave should not have headlined. Maybe the original lineup with Friedman and Ellefson, but now, no.

MAthiAS 06-21-2005 09:27 AM
original lineup with Friedman
Uhh... wrong?

Deth 06-21-2005 09:39 AM

Megadave can headline anything.

Shame on you R. Blythe *shakes head slowly*

Chu 06-21-2005 10:44 AM
Uhh... wrong?
I don't think he meant original line up as in with Poland etc.
I think he meant Ellefson, Menza, Friedman and Him. It's a tad unfortunate Menza can't play it anymore and Ellefson will never get back with Dave :(

Five Magics 06-21-2005 03:38 PM

A tad unfortunate? I was sooo ready to see menza with megadeth in toronto back in november, then i was disappointed when i heard the news even though the show turned out great. I think menza was one of the best metal drummers back during the RIP era/time, his work on that album is deadly

Hey. I was at that show too :p

What do you guys think?
good job man :thumb:

just get the timing right and it'll be awesome

Bazarov 06-21-2005 03:59 PM

I liked what Knifeboy did. Anyway, I was listening to Youthanasia a few days to go. Trying to see if their were other songs I liked on that album besides Family Tree... and I must say, I really like this album now. Black Curtain, A Tout Le Monde, Blood of Heroes, this album is pretty good... I don't know why I used to think it sucked. I guess because I'm more into RIP, Killing Is Business.. Megadeth.

MAthiAS 06-21-2005 04:30 PM

Victory is definitely in my top 5 Deth songs.

Man Five Magics has some insane solos, it'll take a couple weeks for this song to come together.

I agree, I wanted to see Menza when they came to Australia.

I guess we don't really have to do Five Magics. We can try something else. How about Set The World Afire?

Arise II 06-23-2005 07:00 AM

^^^ OMFG, yeah, you HAVE to do Five Magics. That one, along with Set The World Afire, those are Deth's two best songs! :thumb:

MAthiAS 06-23-2005 08:29 AM

I really think we should do Five Magics, its definitely one of their best. And I'm learning it anyway, its a good challenge.

wrongnote85 06-23-2005 09:38 AM

goin to see em august 2nd in dallas texas. it'll be my first time and i'm excited as hell. can't wait to see if i'm playing all these parts the right way!

fatbandit 06-23-2005 10:12 AM

Haha, I just learnt Five Magics on bass quite badly :)

I'll keep practicing it though ;)

:smash:

willis2441 06-25-2005 01:18 PM

did dave write the main riff for metallicas "leper messiah"?

MAthiAS 06-25-2005 01:35 PM

I don't know, but he always bitches how it uses spider riffing.

Dude3 06-25-2005 02:24 PM
I really think we should do Five Magics, its definitely one of their best. And I'm learning it anyway, its a good challenge.
Yeah, that would be a good song. Also, "Rust in Peace...Polaris" would be pretty awesome.

MAthiAS 06-25-2005 05:13 PM

Heh, we should just do all of Rust in Peace.

RustedPieces 06-25-2005 05:49 PM

I can probably start recording stuff starting this week. So if you want me to do any rhythm guitars then just tell me. :thumb:

MAthiAS 06-25-2005 06:45 PM

You're welcome to do anything you know, someone's going to have to do the rhythms to all the solos because my comp won't let me overdub successfully :upset:

RustedPieces 06-25-2005 06:49 PM

Ok, but if I did the solo rhythms our tone might sound completly different so it might sound like a weird transition.

What settings do you use on your amp?

Apocalyptic Raids 06-25-2005 09:24 PM

As long as the settings are similar that wouldn't be a problem, I think it sounds cool when the guitars each have a slightly different tone.

Dude3 06-25-2005 09:31 PM
Heh, we should just do all of Rust in Peace.
Well, I'm learning Holy Wars at the moment. I've been learning it for a while, but haven't really paid too much attention to it. I'll try to finish it soon.

For anybody who knows it, I need some help. During the first electric solo, at about 3:34 in, there is a short descending run. Do you do the pull-off from the 22nd to the 18th fret, and then shift your hand down to the other part of the run?

MAthiAS 06-25-2005 10:04 PM
What settings do you use on your amp?
On my Line 6 its something like:
Bass - 6
Mids - 4
Treble - 6
Gain - 10
I don't remember exactly what I had the settings as though, but I know they were pretty flat like that.

Listening to it, I have no idea what you're talking about. The first solo is pretty much arpeggios, then a little lick, then the bends, then another arpeggio, then the octaves, and the last lick with the hammer-ons and pulloffs.

Oh, forget it. I figured it out :)
Hopefully tomorrow, I'll reach the insane solo. That one will take a little while.

FrailandBedazzled1979 06-25-2005 10:23 PM

I got my ticket for the Chicago date of Gigantour today, why isnt anyone comming to St.Louis this summer! hehe, oh well...no distance is to great for another Megadeth show...tis a shame Symphony X is only getting a short 25 minute set, im sure they will do a mean 3-4 songs in that time span lol.

Chu 06-25-2005 10:24 PM

They're playing 2 songs, I don't know what they are off by heart, but if you wanty to know I can dig them up.

Dude3 06-25-2005 10:28 PM

I'm going to the Orlando show.
