Right on.

Subvert_bassist 07-31-2006 09:35 PM

Anyone else like Black Sabbath? I used to wave them off as another band trendy Hot Topic kids listen to, but people call them the godfathers of doom metal, so I took another listen. I like more of their less popular songs. Like, listen to "Electric Funeral", and you'll hear where doom metal/sludge bands get their influence.

Black Sabbath > most. They were the first "heavy" band I got into because my dad used to jam 'em when I was a kid. Such an amazing band.

Black Sabbath is one of those bands that can be hyped by trendy fags and still be fucking awesome. Like J, I heard these guys growing up because my dad would listen to them all the time. Geezer would write some sick bass lines which made me want to play bass, listen to NIB for examples of his crazy as shit bass playing.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-01-2006 09:49 AM

The riff in "Black Sabbath" is the heaviest, most evil riff ever. Nothing even comes close.

anyway

Subvert_bassist 08-01-2006 09:06 PM

That song is sick. If you like that songs, listen to Graves at Sea.

RetiredAt21 08-02-2006 01:50 PM

Black Sabbath is one of the greatest songs ever. I LOVE that riff.

Every time I see anything about this band I think of the video where some guy gets his neck snapped at a Repulsion concert. So fúcked up.

Br00tal.

Subvert_bassist 08-02-2006 11:48 PM

Haha what the hell mang.

This one's better:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsgEdbJlA1I

Watch the guy in the white and blue shirt. He's standing in the center of the void, sees the crowd closing in on him, and doesn't even blink and eye, just stands there. What a ****ing badass.

For Evan: I'm not sure when Kylesa is coming through, but I know Davie is trying to book them for Ione and he said we'd play that, and we're trying to get them to play a show in Sac with us, too.

That's crazy. Repulsion rules.

Has anyone ever heard of Thulsa Doom? really good band, female vocals.

Subvert_bassist 08-05-2006 01:41 AM

Yeah, man. Felic Havoc was at a show at the Gilman, and a few guys found some original print copies of the Thulsa Doom/Distraught split 7" in the records he was selling. Hella sick.

RetiredAt21 08-05-2006 11:48 AM

I wanna hear some Thulsa Doom!

EDIT: PS... Anyone from california goin to Death or Glory fest this year?

Who's gonna be at the Death or Glory fest?

ahh I'm not on my computer right now but if you want some hit me up on AIM some other time.

Anyone know of any other bands with female vocals?

RetiredAt21 08-05-2006 08:56 PM

Straight Edge Kegger

Iron Bug 08-05-2006 10:10 PM

Someone suggest some grind that I could find on soulseek. Something that would really tear my face off. It'd be much appreciated.

Subvert_bassist 08-06-2006 12:21 AM

We played Death or Glory last year, and it kinda sucked. The Havoc got boo'd off, though; that was cool. And the singer of Resilience is a badass, even though I don't like his band.

clustifux 08-06-2006 03:33 AM
Who's gonna be at the Death or Glory fest?
Saturday August 12
7 Seconds
Pressure Point
Hanover Saints
The Generators
Tommy & The Terrors
The Abuse
Strongarm & The Bullies
DCOi!
Los Dryheavers
46 Short
Tommy Gutless
Aces & Eights
Non Existence
Warscrew

Sunday August 13
The Avengers
Whiskey Rebels
Monster Squad
Angel City Outcasts
The Roustabouts
Suburban Threat
Rosevere -(formerly Crisis TMB)
Madhouse Disciples
HOODS
Civet
Call To Arms
Plead The Fifth
Red Handed

I really wanna see 7 seconds, Whiskey Rebels(again), ACO, Rosevere, Plead the fifth, and Pressure point.

That was hella funney when the Havoc got booed off last year. It was lame, why the hell would you stop in the middle of a song when a fight breaks out. Plus they just plain suck *** live.

RetiredAt21 08-06-2006 01:27 PM

Wow, that's gonna be awesome.

Subvert_bassist 08-06-2006 02:11 PM

The only half decent band there is 7 Seconds. Dude, Evan, Plead The Fifth sucks now. They never practice, and Gutto is the only one who even likes the band. We share a guitarist with them (Bill), and he really don't like PTF. They sucked at the Go It Alone/Ceremony show.

Oh, and, the lead singer of Rosevere, Sean, lives like a few blocks from me. I see him in Circle K sometimes.

I'm not going simply because I despise DCOi more than anything. I mean, DCOi = Deadly City Oi. THEY LIVE IN ****IONG DAVIS, A COLLEGE TOWN! How deadly: you might get offered a beer. Besides, I've kinda "outgrown" the rest of those bands. I used to be obsessed with most of them, especially Hanover Saints, Whiskey Rebels, and Monster Squad. But, I became good friends with members from all of them, got into like every show for free, and eventually got sick of all the constant fighting and sexism.

RetiredAt21 08-07-2006 10:29 AM

Monster Squad is really good.

Voetsek
Straight Edge Kegger
I Object!

RetiredAt21 08-07-2006 10:32 AM

I like Straight Edge Kegger.

Subvert_bassist 08-07-2006 11:24 AM
Monster Squad is really good.
They're real good live, too. They do a cover of the Cars - You're Just What I Needed that's pretty cool. But, like any band, after seeing them like 20 times, it gets old, ya know?

RetiredAt21 08-07-2006 11:39 AM

Werd, werd. I get what you mean.

Scabies 08-07-2006 03:44 PM

hahaha this things still going! i heard a band called neanderthal earlier (apparently the first PV band??)..thought it was very f'ucking good! not nowhere near infest though!

whiteminority 08-07-2006 07:34 PM

Check their split with Rorschach.

AIRIC 08-07-2006 07:46 PM

Neanderthal are sweet. The Rorschach split is great.

Im goin cause i really like 7 seconds.. You're right as well about PTF, they arnt as good as they were a few years back. Is bill playin guitar for em at dog? Cause im probally goin alone and being a loner at a show sucks ***(ive gone to way to many shows alone) Yes a lot of the bands arnt what i mainly listen to(dystopia, antischism, FAR, Crass, BEL etc etc) But i havent been to a good show since the Resistant Culture, Iskra, Warfair? and Doves lie dead show. Seeing how my Wu Tang show got ****ed over. /cries

Hey! You got un-banned!

Subvert_bassist 08-08-2006 09:03 PM

Yes, Evan, Bill's playin' DOG.

And, that was my last good show, too. Grave Digger's playing tomorrow, but we'll end up doing sludge improv for five minutes after every real song.

Feel The Darkness 08-14-2006 03:40 PM

I posted a review of the new Insect Warfare EP on TftH, so go check that out!

http://thrashfromtheheart.blogspot.com/

I also posted it on Sputnik if anyone wants to comment there or add in something, but I'd prefer fi you still checked it out on the site.

Subvert_bassist 08-14-2006 07:37 PM

Good job man. I love Insect Warfare.

RetiredAt21 08-14-2006 11:10 PM
