Going to listen to it in a bit. I like their new sound. They'd be releasing the same album over and over again if they kept doing the industrial folk thing.
Been on a real dark ambient kick lately.
Have you heard Noctus Cultus records' compilation? I believe it's called Military Fetish Muzak or something along those lines. It's chock full of dark ambient/ambient industrial.

Standing alone it is a good album. It has a good "dark" feeling to it. However, the tracks seem to blend together too much. Not much in the way of "stand outs".

I disagree that if they kept their older sound they would be releasing the same thing over and over again. Their first 4 records all had a more industrial sound to them and they all had their own character.

I'm not familiar with it. I did a search on it and didn't turn much up.

Meatplow 05-16-2010 03:00 AM

i've caught the Brian Eno bug, Another Green World, Discreet Music and Music For Films have become three of my favourite albums.

idk why but Music For Airports didn't really do it for me. will listen again at some point

Morumbar 05-16-2010 03:58 AM

Lol, I posted that Rome was gonna release an album a while ago and even linked to where you could preorder it and everyone ignored my post.

Anyway, I still didn't get it in the mail yet. :(

Meatplow 05-16-2010 04:09 AM

I only have Flowers From Exile and love it, thinking of checking out the earlier stuff.

Ventriloquist 05-16-2010 04:19 AM

Man, you'll love the earlier stuff. Get Confessions NOW.

Meatplow 05-16-2010 04:20 AM

I will, just slow at getting around to things you know me.

Meatplow 05-16-2010 11:23 AM

revisiting early Death In June i've neglected recently, Nada!, The World That Summer and But, What Ends When The Symbols Shatter are pretty solid.

Brown Book, Kapo! and Scorpion Wind with Boyd Rice would be their (his?) finest to me though, i've never really felt Rose Clouds of Holocaust for some reason. Everything after 1996 or so seems kind of silly.

FatalEnergy 05-16-2010 02:30 PM

Rose Clouds of Holocaust is pretty boring, but it gets good reviews for some reason.

Meatplow 05-16-2010 03:32 PM

idk if anyone has heard it but that constipated sounding guy who does the opening track Max Wearing did a whole album (Occidental Martyr) reciting DiJ lyrics over ambient folk music

the cover is one of the gayest things i've seen in all of neofolk

you might as well take a look at this.

Meatplow 05-17-2010 10:11 PM

yeah I listened to that a couple of years back

I need My Life In The Bush of Ghosts

Jaundice 05-17-2010 10:14 PM

I've had My Life in the Bush of Ghosts for a while now but never really listened.

Everything that Happenes is a likeable piece of modern indie with some solid production.

I don't know about this Fatboy Slim collaboration tho.

Meatplow 05-17-2010 10:16 PM

I remember it being pretty cool

I always felt this song ventured close to awkward pop territory.

Ravenholm 05-17-2010 11:50 PM

Random recommendations:

"Ghost in the Circuit" by Velvet Acid Christ
describes my mood, not really sure what to feel. a very relaxing song

"Testure" by Skinny Puppy
doesn't get old, i like the beat

Meatplow 05-18-2010 06:53 AM

the uncensored Testure music video scared the **** out of me a while ago when I saw it on a mixtape

mind you it paled next to footage from Cannibal Ferox and the Guinea Pig series

Meatplow 05-18-2010 09:02 PM

just received Fire + Ice - Hollow Ways in the mail

Jaundice 05-19-2010 01:10 AM

It has come to my attention that Trent Reznor has put work with Nine Inch Nails on hiatus and started a new band called How to Destroy Angels

It seems to involve him on programming and his fiancee mariqueen maandig on vocals. They just released a single called A Drowning. It seems to be some standard female fronted trip-hop, but this could have some potential. EP being released in a few months.

Murdererer 05-19-2010 03:02 AM

song sounded gay tbh

i thought he was gonna do a project with gary numan that would be cooler then this yoko ono crap

Jaundice 05-19-2010 03:06 AM

I gave it a listen and I'm not a huge fan of it, but I'll probably still end up buying the EP.

Meatplow 05-19-2010 06:35 AM

Mariqueen Maandig is a hell of a name

Ventriloquist 05-20-2010 04:14 PM

Trent Reznor's new stuff is so ****ing gay.

Jaundice 05-20-2010 04:29 PM

Everything he's done with NIN lately has been top-notch, I just don't know about this Portishead sounding ****.

Ventriloquist 05-20-2010 04:42 PM

yeah I meant the non NIN stuff the one with the chick. Last NIN album was ****ing amazing and so were Ghosts

Jaundice 05-20-2010 04:44 PM

I thought I was alone in appreciating The Slip. Was listening to it yesterday.

I need to give Ghosts another listen, I've only listened to it once and I remember it being amazing.

Ventriloquist 05-20-2010 07:07 PM

I really liked The Slip. Was listening to it whole summer. So glad I was able to see them live before the hiatus.

Jaundice 05-20-2010 07:45 PM

Yeah I caught one of their Lights in the Sky sets . Me and my friend were hungry tho so we left a couple songs in.

RouteOne 05-20-2010 11:01 PM

my night can best be described as martial as fvck
