hold the pick right

ur pick should be under ur thumb like it's gotta fit perfectly and use ur index finger so the pick wont fall , and just let the edge go out(obviously)

try looking for some pics at google of how to hold ur pick right cos it's hard to explain and just practice man it takes a while to get good a picking and some songs are tricky like battery or blackened :thumb:
if you just pick with your wrist, rather than your whole arm moving that way your hand stays about 1/2 inch from the bridge at all times it will greatly increase the dynamics of your playing, you can stop notes whenever you want and they can be distinguished from one another, the music just sounds sharper and cleaner, remember its all about poise, precision and practice, speed is a reward from practice the more you practice the dfaster you'll get

sMURFJEW 04-26-2004 10:46 PM

it took me about a month to get the picking right so i could go fast enough for master of puppets. But then when i learned blackend i was so good at fast all downstroke picking it was easy and i learned it fast.
Mama Said is the worst metallica song. I think anyway.
Agreed, that song is **** also i think its called where the wild things are off reload that pisses me off now

SilenceNOmorE 04-27-2004 03:45 AM

i just heard mama said for the first time in a long time not long ago and i lurv it at the moment. Where the Wild Things are ****s me off, I always skip it if I'm listening to Reload. Other than that, the album version of Outlaw Torn isn't that good, but the S&M version kicks ***. Apart from those, I can't really think of a Metallica song that isn't absolute genius.

Tenacious I 04-27-2004 08:20 AM

What was the first song that metallica made?
I've always thought it was Hit the Lights, but a friend of mine says that their first song was some kinda demo that he didnt know the name of
I say thats BS

superpeer 04-27-2004 08:41 AM

Wasn't it Jump in The fire?

flannagan33 04-27-2004 08:43 AM

Metallica

:thumb: metallica was such a good band and they still are but their new music sucks...its tooo tacky n they are ruining their rep. i think st anger blew it...but thats wat i think....anyways...metallica...best band of all time

btoto 04-27-2004 08:47 AM

no first 'tallica song was Hit the Lights.
james and Lars wrote it even before they formed Metallica.

but there are some rumours that James wrote Motorbreath even before that.
but i'm not sure. even if it's true, James is not Metallica, so the credit
goes to Hit The Lights :)

SlaveToTheGrind 04-27-2004 10:21 AM

i not sure whether it is a thin lizzy cover or a traditional song.

countrymetalfan 04-27-2004 10:58 AM

I know that Hetfield was in a band called Leather Charm before Lars and the formation of the greatest band the world has ever seen, haha, but it seems like i read somewhere Hit the Lights was it, the opening lines "no life til leather" was also the name of the demo that they put out, im not sure but i think that it was HTL.

lostskater76 04-27-2004 05:14 PM

I have a book w/ the history of metallica and it says that there first song was Hit the Lights,
but it might have been called something else

Sorry, I dont think so. I believe he is Filipino with something else. Although th filipin language does have spanish influence seeing as theywere ruled by the spanish for quite some time so you could say Kirk has some knowledge of spanish. Who knows he probably took it in high school :thumb:

Photophobic 04-29-2004 04:28 PM

And in about a year it will get added to my ever expanding "wanted to buy on DVD but wanted to buy Maiden and Metallica CDs more" list
