i still dont understand how they went to roadrunner

lost_profits 06-08-2005 03:37 AM

Roadrunner was only good in the days when Cynic released Focus. I never thought I'd ever see Opeth sell out, I still believe they won't. But first Roadrunner, and now Fred Durst?

I don't know whats scarier?

funk_metalguitarist 06-08-2005 03:51 AM

Label doesn't make any difference. A few death metal bands signed up to major labels in the past (Morbid Angel for example) and they still kicked ***.

4130 06-08-2005 03:58 AM

Come one that picture was clearly photoshopped.

Notice Mike is wearing an Eminem shirt.

I thought it was real at first, too.

Dude, that's not a real photo. The record label makes zero difference. The record label has to cow the band for a band to follow through: Opeth are too smart for that, and they did well enough on their own that it's silly that there would be any concern that Opeth wouldn't give two cents to their own credibility.

whatduffhuck7 06-08-2005 12:00 PM

who cares even if that picture is true. just becuase he talks to fred durst means he sells out. c'mon. opeth is gonna stay with there roots (i hope) although, they have signed with roadrunner and they are on the sounds of the underground tour with bands like atreyu and unearth. new album is supposed to be out soon, we will see

EDIT: i just found this picture. so this alost proves that, that one picture was remastered, becuase he has the same color shirt on by different symbol

Yep, that proves it.. Or maybe the fact that it was pretty fucking obvious that it was a photoshop proved it

Deth 06-08-2005 12:40 PM

I'm dl the growling sample now, I'll edit in thoughts. I'm on 56k, so it'll take a while.

A little weak, I'm afraid to say. If I had a mic, I would give a sample but I don't think I have one around.

I think the problem is that your hoding back a touch and your voice doesn't sound deep enough. Sorry kid.

Cain 06-08-2005 12:58 PM

There's a difference between roars and growls. Akerfeldt roars. Go for roaring. There especially shouldn't be any trace of what your voice actually sounds like.

ATM 06-08-2005 12:59 PM

If Akerfeldt roars, who growls?

Deth 06-08-2005 12:59 PM

Tear those vocal cords up! This is your moment of glory!
If Akerfeldt roars, who growls?
....I don't know. Some other people grunt. I think "roaring vocals" might sound stupid, so maybe that's why we refer to them as "growls." :)

A growl is more like what that fat secondary vocalist does on Nightwish's "Oceanborn" album. Like a stupid, low...growl. I don't know. *shrugs*

Det_Nosnip 06-08-2005 01:57 PM

No, no....Mikael does do growls and that guy definetly wasn't growling, he was just trying to sound like a badguy from a Disney movie. Couldn't the beginning of "Bleak" be considered more of a "growl?"

Cardboard Headgear 06-08-2005 02:43 PM

Roars, grunts, growls, its all the same thing.

PIGS(1 different one) 06-08-2005 03:05 PM

If rep was still around, I would give you a tonne. That actually made me laugh out loud.

Sounded like ricky from trailer park boys.

Cardboard Headgear 06-08-2005 06:25 PM

Dude, someone could have MSPaint'd Fred Durst into a picture with Akerfeldt and someone would still believe it.

XxMetallica FanxX 06-08-2005 06:29 PM

*waits horribly impatiently for new album....*

I Love Opeth and I'm so proud to live in the same city (Stockholm) as these guys.

Hehe... thanks man. I'm working on it now, and once I'm better I'll make another sample.

OfSins&Shred 06-08-2005 08:09 PM

Blackwater Park and Deliverance are the best along with orchid. I havent heard much of ****ation

CaptainWaits 06-08-2005 09:23 PM

The only album I care for is Deliverance. I'm not much of the fan for these guys, I prefer better music

Blackwater Park is one of my favorite metal albums ever. They're all such talented people, and Steve Wilson's influence was icing.

I'm just saying that I don't care for Opeth, but if you want better music, I could show you a small list :)
