did anyone notice that in Sum 41's FWTBT they don't do the tiny "solo" with the repeating progression that Metallica does.

*speculation* they were most likely asked (told) to keep it short and so they cut out that little repeating bit so they could cram more songs in with the mop solo

The comedian did a kick *** impression of Lars, All the covers were horrible, Metallica owns those bands to death.

Jim Bruer is hilarious. he did a perfect impression of Lars.

Jim kicks as[I]s[/I]. He's by far the funniest MTV/VH1/etc. guy. His impression of lars was indeed excellent. Lars was probably thinking "damn for making fun of me" I wonder why he didnt mention kirk? lol.

yeah jim bruer came out and ripped the piss outta lars and james. it was so funny. and he did his impression of metallica covering "if your happy and you know it". it was quite good actually.

Hey fellas.....i am seriously about to be joined into a serious hard rock cover band...as Basically the Kirk of the Band....up here near flint Michigan....last night we played cemetery gates thunderkiss 65, Paranoid, symphony of destruction, TNT, and slither....i play Daves part on Slither and Slash for the Solo...for the most part it was friggin awesome playin w/ a full band for the first time....we actually cover like 3 different age groups!...as long as i can play rhythm w/ the other guitarist it should work out, i'm soooo stoked!

The only James and Lars impression I can do is the "beer good, napster bad" thing.

I'm playin through just a Marshall MG100 and B-52 4x12....which sounds pretty good w/ my Epi LP...and i know it will sound badass w/ my Delonge Strat that i dropped an EMG-81 into....ROCK!@@!!!!!!!*&%%!()!!!!!!!

Hahahahaa....nice..i actually do a lotta impressions..like from Bush to Ozzy to the Simpsons...ROCK ON!!!..oh yeah, one of the songs we tried was seek and destroy ehich i love....but the changes i kinda tricky....and i am thinkin of tryin somethin for their Metallica song....it has to be pre-blakc..cause our singer is really hardcore....i'm thinkin either Bellz of Ride the Lightning....both of which i have like mastered....ROCK!!!!!

I'd say Ride the Lightning, it's much more impressive, especially that 90 second solo.

I agree..as good as "Seek.." is..i think the rhythm for Ride is wayyyy easier and i can almost rock the solo.....cause they just started playin "Seek.."...ROCK!!!!!

I know that.. but that seems to be one of the prime arguments as to why Metallica sucks. I heard it in this thread, and my guitar teacher told me about this as well.

I've seen Kirk in concert doing 7 string (yes he has a 7 string) sweeps during his solo time. I was pretty impressed by that and how fast he did it. I think Jeff Loomis has someone to watch out for from that. His tapping is very nice as well. You can hardly tell that he is doing it unless you watch him do it.
