What about Burton :p

PepsiMetal 02-03-2006 05:05 PM
I don't really believe that
I agree. He's obviously still pissed at tallica for getting kicked out during that time of article.

For example this:

"if Metallica fans really knew what my contribution was instead of them saying there wasn’t any."

Plenty of metallica albums have mustaine on credit for songs yet he considers that nothing.

"But now all of a sudden I’m so important that they need me in their movie. Were you lying then or are you lying now? Why am I so important that I need to be in your stupid movie?"

Why didn't he just refuse to be in the movie instead of bitch about it after he was in it?

"James [Hetfield] didn’t want to give me credit because he’s jealous of me. His whole frontman persona he copped from me."

Hetfield had pretty similar role in the band since start. He played rhythm basically forever and still does.

"I really don’t care about Kirk — he stole my job, but at least I got to bang his girlfriend before he took my job — how do I taste, Kirk?"

He mentioned Kirk stole his job. Kirk had nothing to do with anything. So he blamed the work James and Lars did on Kirk because he was replaced?

I don't know, mustaine is probably hard to be friends with. Megadeth always changes players probably cause he pisses them off alot also. Perhaps it would be cool if mustaine was still in metallica, mainly because of his complaining though.

Ok so what about that tallica at sundance? That was not even announced.

I was hoping someone comes near my local harley davidson dealer to perform unannounced, like umm Zakk Wylde. lol

Yeah, judging from interviews/quotes from/with Dave, you can tell that he has a pretty childish personality.

Quickdrop 02-03-2006 05:29 PM

Dave is a prick. However, i'd probebly be the same way if i was in his shoes.

timmySmi 02-03-2006 06:28 PM

I can't understand why Dave's so bitter, He started as something then was kicked out of Metallica and came to nothing then he started Megdeth and made them a household name they are as good if not better than Metallica. Why does he have to keep bringing up **** that happened over 20 years ago its quite pathetic even Effelson(spelling?) the co founder and bassist of Megadeth who had being with Dave from the start had to leave because of him. Like someone said he probably is someone very hard to socially and musically be around.

Britton 02-03-2006 06:35 PM

I'm sure he is.

I think the main reason he's pissed at Metallica is because he's prick. And maybe the money has somehing to do with it...I din't know

Joe 02-03-2006 10:22 PM
I just noticed on the credits for songs in S&M

The Call of the Ktulu
(Hetfield,Ulrich,Burton,MUSTAINE)

They actually gave him credit for it!
He also co-wrote every song on KEA (nearly) and RTL on RTL. He didn't record any of Metallica's actual studio albums (you can find bootlegged concerts and demos with Dave)

Those were some interesting quotes, Pepsimetal
I think the main reason he's pissed at Metallica is because he's prick. And maybe the money has somehing to do with it...I din't know
Agreed completely. He just makes up a ton of bull

Some of his comments on SKoM, really annoy me:

"All the people know how great guitarist is Kirk Hammet and how ****ty is Dave Mustaine because he got kicked out of Metallica"

Mustaine must hate his persona.

Also his comments about looking all the succes of Metallica and looking all that he did as a failure, annoy me. Dave Mustaine is an excelent musician, Megadeth is in my opinion better than Metallica, too bad he can't see that.

Joe 02-03-2006 10:39 PM

Well what he thinks of failure is

"Oh I only sold 15 million albums... more than any other Metal band... except Metallica"

Also, that's your opinion. He can't see that because Metallica has sold 6x as many albums as Megadeth did.

heavy metal kid 02-03-2006 10:46 PM

It is still sad, Megadeth has a different success, they have loyable fans, they had Marty Friedman, Rust in Peace etc.

If he thinks success is popularity, well his right, but i just can't see why he ignores the best side of Megadeth.

If he sees success is popularity, I don't understand why he didn't join a little band called Fall Out Boy.

I really can't stand Mustaine. He's got talent but he's a whiny prick.

Apparently Mustaine used to do all the talking to the audience with Metallica. That's apparently were Hetfield got the "persona" from or whatever, is what he is saying.

I completely agree.

What really sets Metallica apart from Megadeth is the Black Album. I think before the BL came out Metallica and Megadeth probably had about the same amount of sales. But all that success (in a financial sense) in the 90's brought the rest of Metallica's catolog to the rest of the world...in other words people heard the BL and went out and bought Metallica's other albums just because they thought it would be like the BL

Where as Megadeth never changed a style or did anything new. Some Pricks venture to say "Oh Metallica sucks! they sold out" when really they just changed. megadeth never changed. Dave Mustaine never changed..end of story.

Joe 02-03-2006 11:17 PM

Metallica did not sell out by making the Black Album. They made music, people liked it, it sold. Easy as that. Megadeth made music, some people liked it, it sold less. After the Black Album came out, Metallica sold more and more of their old albums and now have sold nearly 90 million albums besides the Black Album.

And all of Metallica's shows are sold out.

Apocalyptic Raids 02-03-2006 11:54 PM

Megadeth changed too.

Countdown To Extinction was a similar style of change to the Black Album, except it's not nearly as commercial as the Black Album.

Bazarov 02-03-2006 11:55 PM

also look at Youthanasia or Risk. They're pretty different styles from Megadeth's first 4 CD's.

poor mustain. he was so happy that CDTE was number 2 and then when black came out it was at num 1:confused:

ghettoeddo 02-04-2006 01:19 AM

in my opinion, mustaine is a far better player than hammett is. maybe he realizes that and that's why he's so bitter.

but the thing is, you can't be all talent in a band. if you're being a total dick and pissing off the rest of the band and inhibiting the full potential of that band, then you don't deserve to be in it. i think that's what he can't see because yea he's an amazing guitar player.

DaveTheAmazing 2.0 02-04-2006 07:53 AM

Yo, anyone know where I can find an accurate guitar pro tab of TLITD?

Powertabs had a pretty acurate one. I think you might be able to find the powertab on Ultimate-Guitar.

Britton 02-04-2006 12:46 PM

Well I know Megadeth changed too....but not half as much as Metallica did.

Mustaine is a better player then Hammett, But Hammett is a better band member

I love when he's trying to get everyone to get along in SKOM

Bingo.

I would like it better though if they would gt along though. I think everyone would. I haven't seen an anti-Metallica Megadeth fan in awhile so maybe the tides will change soon.

Jev 02-04-2006 12:55 PM

I don't like the way Mustaine blurs notes together, if you get what I mean. still I'd take him over Hammett.

Huber 02-04-2006 12:56 PM

I wanna hear Mustaine do a shred album.

Not until next year though, I gotta make sure I see Megadeth at Gigantour this year.

I'm definatly gonna go this year if they come. I missed them last year

Blurrs notes? how do you mean?

Jev 02-04-2006 02:11 PM

His solos just sound a bit sloppy to me.

Britton 02-04-2006 02:13 PM

Hmm

okay

I think they are really good.

I think his note selection sometimes is a little weird...but that sets him apart

Jev 02-04-2006 02:15 PM

I think he improvs them.
I thought he did ? As far as I knwo he was pissed because he asked not to be put in the movie but he was anyway.
Well he had an interview in front of a camera, so it was going to be shown somewhere. They wouldn't have video taped it for no reason. Plus he probably signed that metallica will have all the rights to the interview video which he shouldn't have if he felt like he didn't want to be shown on a video.
Apparently Mustaine used to do all the talking to the audience with Metallica. That's apparently were Hetfield got the "persona" from or whatever, is what he is saying.
Yea, I guess. But he was replaced by kirk, who barely ever talks on stage. So I guess James had to do that since nobody else in the band would. So I dont think James stole his stage presence or persona, he just kinda had to do it since nobody else would and so that the band wasn't boring.

Jev 02-04-2006 03:53 PM

Dave Mustaine was asked to be interviewed. He agreed but after the interview he asked the film makers not to show it. I guess he was pissed when he found out it was in the movie.

Actually your right.

Mustaine's cool though. Just not the best bandmate. Kirk's solo's are all pretty much the same structure on a bunch of the albums which sometimes gets annoying. Mustaine's solos are pretty cool in that they change it up a lot. But Mustaine's voice can easily get on my nerves sometimes.

DaveTheAmazing 2.0 02-04-2006 07:36 PM

I read somewhere that Mustaine was pissed off because SKOM showed him in a bad light and made people sympathise with Lars, or something.
Haha, how long'd that take?
Quite a while, after a minute my eyes would stop working correctly, and I'd have to rest them for a couple minutes :p

Quickdrop 02-04-2006 07:58 PM

"come on guys, lets just go hammer it out in there instead of on each other" Or something like that, then lars and james just look at him like hes an idiot.

DaveTheAmazing 2.0 02-05-2006 09:25 AM

Yeah so I just watched Dream Theater do a cover of "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)", and it got me wondering why on MTV Icon: Metallica, Korn, or who ever the **** it was, performed Sanitarium rather than DT? The performence on MTV Icon didn't include the final solo or anything.

Jev 02-05-2006 11:36 AM

MTV Icon restricted the amount of time the bands had so that explains the covers cut down and MTV didn't even ask Dream Theater to appear on the show, they covered MOP (the full album) at their own concerts (what they do is have two setlists sometimes with an interval. The first setlist is their stuff and the second is a cover album). I doubt MTV even know DT exist anymore as their only appearance on MTV was in the "pull me under" video of '92.

I saw that video the other day on VH1. I dont think they would have asked them to play because most people dont know who DT is. Instead they got Limp Bizkit, Korn, Sum 41, Avril Lavigne and Snoop Dog.

Jev 02-05-2006 11:43 AM

Exactly. They chose more popular artists to get more viewers. Also, DT would show up Metallica by playing the songs better than Metallica themselves :p
