oooo altar is from 2006... good, because with music like this, good production is essential

i would say Sleep - Dopesmoker, but you cant really go wrong with anything listed so far. if you want something really sludgy, but can forgo the slow tempo, you might also want to check out Hope For Men

i dunno i feel like it being slow and sort of amorphous at times is part of what would make it waht it is, like to feel really thick and heavy i feel like it'd have to be moving slowly

I like the concept Perri is getting at. Lets use [I]Altar[/I] as a baseline for this. If you extrapolate the darkness from the album you're left with any Univers Zero album. If you blow away all of the reverb and crank the tempo up a bit you get [I]Pigs of the Roman Empire[/I] by Melvins w/ Lustmore. If you take it and add a bit more complexity and add a bit of humor, you get Harvey Milk. If you add King Crimson so it, you get Guapo.

i dont have it anymore but i recall it being kinda neat. especially Burning Man, it starts out with just guitar playing this standard metal riff at a normal speed, but then the drums come in and all of a sudden CHAOS Brann Dailor is playin like four snare hits every beat and its insane in a good way
