Which is best?

I vaguely want an album of theirs, but I don't know where to start
Any of them except Embassy Tapes, which although it's good, is extremely badly recorded. I believe the tracks on Embassy Tapes were gonna be part of the band's next album, but they split up so the album wasn't recorded. Still, it's decent though. But the other two are your best bet for a first album of theirs.

Probably not that much since they only have had one original member since 2003.

This Bike is a Pipe Bomb - Front Seat Solidarity

That's an accomplishment. Sometimes, that album can be difficult to listen to in one sitting.

Minuteflag EP

I'm enjoying this.

speaking of Watt, i can't play the bass in "History Lesson, Pt. II." it's too fucking confusing! i THINK the verses are just B-A-F#-E, but who knows?? I can't even fall back on just trying scales and seeing what works because Watt and Boon jammed with basically no knowledge of music at all. there's no telling how they came up with something this awesome and i will never be able to replicate it :(

Eliminator 05-19-2007 09:10 PM

good reason to stop playing bas

That's not even close. The four verse notes are:

G-----------
D-----------
A--2--1-----
E-------2--0

Nobody ever tabs Minutemen songs correctly (except "Spillage" which is how I learned to play it: an online tab). It's like the idiots who think the first two notes of "The Glory of Man" are an octave apart. It's a minor seventh!

Sanjna 05-19-2007 10:55 PM

Brilliant.
That's a pretty sweet album. "Porn Wars" certainly delivers. I also really like "We're Turning Again" for what it is, and "What's New in Baltimore" and "Alien Orifice" became classics and live staples, and rightly so.

I love that album. Probably my favourite Don Cabellero album

Nah, I saw Don Caballero in November and they were kind of lame. Not bad by any means, they were solid but just...uninspiring. Damon Che is an excellent drummer though, and quite an amusingly weird guy as well.

I thought World Class Listening Problem was pretty good. Not as good as the original line up but still enjoyable

I'd like to see them live too.

HumanCannonball 05-20-2007 08:20 AM

Gogol Bordello - Gypsy Punks-Underdog World Strike
Spoon - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga
mewithoutYou - Catch For Us the Foxes

They all rock, especially the newest Spoon release which is absolutely amazing.
