Reflection > 10, 000 days

kurrpt 04-21-2006 09:29 AM

i wont be bold enough to even make any kind of claims to that regard

Rothmans 04-21-2006 09:55 AM

I find this album totally different to their last 4 so much I seriously do. It would be their experimental album I think their "untouchables". Does anyone else think that? I think it was nothin like I was hoping it would be... I am impressed I do like it but a little let down I was hoping for aggression and their is basically none that I can hear....]]

But I love how everything has come from a different approach I see it like that it is far far different then anything they have done which is what I love.

Shadius 04-21-2006 10:15 AM

b-sides my ass.

:)

Though it would be interesting to hear some Tool b-sides, however, I get the feeling that they just save riffs they don't use, and work them onto later albums.

Pale-Folklore 04-21-2006 10:27 AM
Man, ****ing Tool. The venue they picked for Toronto has a membership club that you have to pay $60 to join, and one of the perks of this membership club is that you get access to tickets for shows two days ahead of anyone else. Well, all the scalpers out there were obviously happy to pay the fee, since ticketmaster is filled with Toronto Tool tickets that were put onsale yesterday and because there wasn't a single ticket left for the "general public" sale even when I was there the second it started.

Do your homework next time guys. No pre-sales my ***.
that happened to me too

god im going to kill them

i cant believe everyone here has actually heard the album already. im just gonna wait until it comes out

Wintermute 04-21-2006 10:37 AM

10,000 Days hasn't been released here yet, and though Vicarious has been played quite a bit (A local club had a launch party for it, for a start) I'm avoiding hearing it. I want to listen to the album straight through, and I don't want to hear a second before that.

I plan to book out one of the University recording studios, so I can listen to it on hand-balanced 5.1 monitors... oh yes.

Plus, I have a ticket to see them at the Download Festival this summer. :D

ShadowMan 04-21-2006 11:25 AM

I plan to buy it the day it comes out, so I have no qualms about downloading it and listening to it as many times as I have. If it is b-sides then cool, double the music, but if not, which I assume, I'm happy with what they've done. Everyone that wants to hear another Aenima or Lateralus should just pop those in. I think this one has a lot more elements of Lateralus to it then anything else, with Lateralus they moved in a more positive direction, and continued to so here. Seems to also be much more personal also.

ShadowMan 04-21-2006 11:27 AM
i dont get goosebumps when i listen to that album, but i will say ive listened to NOTHING but this album since i've gotten it, and i dont see that changing any time today, or tomorrow....
I have at a few points, mostly out of anticipation after having already listened to it a few times and knowing what was coming up.

kurrpt 04-21-2006 11:40 AM

whats everyone's favorite track AT THIS POINT?

mine = vicarious, strangely enough

Dried Muffin Remnants 04-21-2006 11:49 AM

Conceptually, this is their best album yet. Aenima flows very well, but some of the segues are corny and take away from the mood.

My order of favorites...

Jambi
Wings
Right In Two
The Pot
Rosetta Stoned
Vicarious
Lost Keys
Intension
Virginti Tres
Lipan Conjuring

I guess I could give a favourites thing a go, though this means absolutely nothing in a couple of days, I'm sure.

Vicarious
The Pot
10,000 Days
Right in Two
Jambi
Rosetta Stoned
Intension
Wings

Lost Keys
Lipan Conjuring
Viginti Tres

All the tracks are quality, except I still don't really know how much need there was for Wings... I suppose some riffs are repeated in the next part and it adds a sense of completeness for the overall thing. It'll probably click sometime after the album is released for me. Vicarious is at the top because I know that song well now, and I love it.

Magicaltroll 04-21-2006 12:41 PM

Rosetta Stones is now one of my favorite songs.

It's one of Tool's most technical songs... It's insanely good.

I love some of the lyrics to it also, like -

"It was all so real,
Like a niphorous (?) on a die,
Don't know what that means,
But remembered to write it down."

That's what my friend thinks he's saying, and I can hear it. And if that IS what he's saying, in my opinion, it's awesome :p

clearvision 04-21-2006 12:45 PM

wings pt 2
vicarious
the pot
jambi
right in two

Whenever i listen to rosetta stoned all i hear him say is sudafed...sh!t the bed... :-/

Magicaltroll 04-21-2006 12:51 PM

Does anyone know what the saying "sh!t the bed" means...?

Everyone says it's a saying, but I don't get it...

kurrpt 04-21-2006 12:58 PM

i havent read all the lyrics to give you a more definitive answer

It means to die, or something wrong.

Yeah I missed out on Toronto tickets today. I'm pissed. I'm goin for the michigan tickets tomorrow though.

denboy 04-21-2006 01:25 PM

My favorite moment on the whole album is the 15 seconds where he sings "jam my eyes"x3 in Jambi

Nosferatu 04-21-2006 01:38 PM

whenever i listen to Rosetta Stoned it sounds like i've heard it before, like previous Tool song/s remixed or something...

Me too...

A place called Distortiononline has most the new lyrics up, they're not official, but they're nice to have.

"dim my eyes
dim my eyes
dim my eyes if they should
compromise our hope
or what you need
if i believed it
i might as well be gone "

clearvision 04-21-2006 01:45 PM

Haha.. I knew it wasn't correct.. Atleast I got two of the words right? :p
The only song where I know any of the correct lyrics are vicarious.. I never really listen to lyrics anyway

ive always been in the habbit of examining the lyrics. Its gives me a deeper appreciation of the song.

Like rosetta stoned. normally, that shizz in the beginning would make no sense in a normal song

Dang, it's a big regular reunion in here.
/Drinks kool aide.

Esoteric_Creator 04-21-2006 02:16 PM

Holy Bootilicious Beyonce, Batman..!

Maynard channeled Nat King Cole for The Pot..! I just go through listening to the 30 second preview Incubliss sent me. F u c king nice so far. From what I've heard as of yet, this album is going places Tool hasn't treaded much (except for the occassional riffs made by Adam)..

That piece in the beginning of The Pot is interesting, though. Reminds me of an interview someone had with the band recently where it was asked if Tool thought this age of music was ready for them. Danny said that if there are bands like Queens of the Stone Age and The Mars Volta there *will* be an audience for Tool..

I'm not a big fan of rosetta stoned atm, anyone else feel it just passes you by everytime you hear it? I hear little btis of third eye and bits of push!t too, but there's not much to grab my attention...I cna't see the appeal of the osng basically, people are hailing it as the best on the album but i just can't see it...
