Apocalypticon 11-09-2007 05:36 PM

the vocals are the only bad part of akitsa

AA-12 11-09-2007 05:38 PM

The vocals are great you pigeon.

haha

Tyler 11-09-2007 08:11 PM

I've only heard two or three Akitsa songs but I do remember the vocals making me laugh.

Nostalgia 11-09-2007 08:14 PM

How? La Grandie Infamie beats any black metal album that's been released within 2 or so years.

Eliminator 11-09-2007 08:20 PM

that has nothing to do with whether the vocals are funny or not

Tyler 11-09-2007 08:20 PM

Like I said, I only heard two or three random tracks, but the vocals, at least at the time, made me laugh. That obviously is not a good thing.

I'll give them a good listen eventually, just saying that based on my brief observation I understand why someone could say they disliked the vocals.

Nostalgia 11-09-2007 08:22 PM

Yes it does. Since Akitsa is simplistic in all forms you look, the vocals are going to be the prime stand out point of the music. If you don't like the vocals, and since he makes them very high in the mix, I don't know how you can enjoy an album that is that vocal driven.

Eliminator 11-09-2007 08:22 PM

his vocals aren't the same on every song
it's funny only when he decides to impersonate his grandmother

Nostalgia 11-09-2007 08:24 PM

That's pretty obvious, but if he's heard a few it's a fair guess that he's heard more than one style. Plus, O.T doesn't even use his incredibly high-pitched ones too much. He does on a few songs of\n La Grandie Infamie, all on the split with Pruirent, and like two songs on Goetie. The rest are his normal more tolerant vocals.

Eliminator 11-09-2007 08:26 PM

yeah his more normal vocals are good. just sayin that i think the higher pitched ones are kind of silly

Nostalgia 11-09-2007 08:29 PM

Have you heard the split? He does his high-pitched one on the whole split (only two Akitsa songs, though). They're not really high pitched like on La Grandie Infamie, but they're a little more distant and a good mix between his vocal styles.

Eliminator 11-09-2007 08:31 PM

ya i've heard the split. dont really remember what much of it sounds like anymore but it was good.

Nostalgia 11-09-2007 08:32 PM

Yeah, the first song is my favorite. Once the 6 or so minutes of a bunch of mindless banging and other stupid **** going on, the song really picks up.

masscows 11-09-2007 09:30 PM

If anyone likes Averse Sefira, which album of theirs is their best? I like what I've heard from them so far.

Never heard of them.

Akitsa bores me tbh. I remember the vocals sounding over processed in a Leviathan type way, though it didn't sound anything like Leviathan.

AA-12 11-09-2007 09:49 PM

Ugh, AS is really generic USBM.

pate 11-09-2007 09:51 PM

They suck Wotan's balls.

AA-12 11-09-2007 09:52 PM

Lineup from MySpace:

Sanguine Mapsama - Voice, Miserichord Guitars
Wrath Sathariel Diabolus - Stormbringer Bass, Shadow Voice
The Carcass - Music of the Spheres
Lady of the Evening Faces - Effects and Aversions

Silenius 11-09-2007 09:52 PM

What do you guys think of Polish bands like Veles, Ohtar, and Moontower? I've had their stuff for a few years but have never really been that into it, though many people seem to think it's quality stuff.

I read that as Lady of the Evening Feces.

Totenkrieg 11-09-2007 09:54 PM

Ive never heard a quality Polish band.

Silenius 11-09-2007 09:56 PM

I always thought Mgla was pretty decent.

Haha, same here.

They're alright.

Totenkrieg 11-09-2007 10:02 PM

Mgla is just some substandard band that experienced some unwarranted attention when they were featured on one of the "Crushing the Holy Trinity" splits.

I saw them live, don't bother with them. They're so boring it's like... "Hey guys, I bet I can trem-pick this riff faster than you!" "OK, LET'S RACE!!" "GO" proceed on for 3-6 minutes. But seriously, I tried listening to Battle's Clarion before the show and they put the bass so high in the mix and the tone is so awful that it gave me a headache.

That sounds like the sort of thing I'd enjoy atm for some reason, I'm kind of binging on ridiculously over-the-top extreme metal.
