This song is...blasphemy!!

:p

It's not as good as old Bodom though...where's Alexi's trademark crappy vocals? They've been replaced by...crappier vocals. Alot of the riffing seems uninspired as well...

IheartSP 08-03-2005 10:02 AM

I think what has happend, this is just a theory, is that Alexi is taking CoB a different direction because he sees Sinergy as a "replacement." He might think, well if I still do powermetal with them who's gonna complain? Sure I like Sinergy but it never compared to powermetal era Bodom, so if this is what Alexi is thinking he has the wrong idea.

Could he be so dense?

Thanks much, Hell! Awesome pics! :thumb:

EDIT: and to Jeremy; welcome to the HateCrew.

Alrighty. My thoughts on the song. Bless Janne for adding the cool keyboards in at the intro; because if he didn't, the intro would've just plain sucked. The scream in the beginning, was cool. BUT. Here's where it gets ugly. The song wasn't impressive. It didn't make me go "my fucking god! This is amazing!! I wish I could play like that!" like all their other songs have done. For Bodom, it was a bad song. But, you guys know what the deal is, the single is always the worst song on the album. Alexi said there wasn't going to be a HateCrew Deathroll part two, and I believe him. Though, this song isn't showing that.

Janne: I don't even know what the single song is going to be called!!
Alexi: In your face!
Janne: In my motherfucking face?
Alexi: In your motherfucking face!

Hells Bells 08-03-2005 10:41 AM
After listening to it repeatedly, I can't say I agree, It was boring and dull. Lifeless.
Lifeless it a good way to describe it. Yeah, I tried to get into it, I listened to it until I realized there was nothing to listen for. The solo sounds forced, or just carelessly thrown in for the sake of having a solo. It fits in well with the song because it's just as lifeless as the rest of it. It's like it was just put there to make fans of the older stuff happy, and that hasn't worked.

Shattered_Future 08-03-2005 10:45 AM

I thought the only decent part of that song was the keyboards...

IheartSP 08-03-2005 10:45 AM

I don't know how Janne agrees to stay in the band, he's a powermetal freak. Doesn't seem like his kind of music.
I don't know how Janne agrees to stay in the band, he's a powermetal freak. Doesn't seem like his kind of music.
Maybe (Hopefully) the rest of the album is more powermetal and that's why he's still in the band.

IheartSP 08-03-2005 10:49 AM

I severely doubt from the 2 songs I've heard from the album that it's powermetal. HCDR was barely powermetal.

Hells Bells 08-03-2005 10:59 AM

Glad you liked the pics Taste_My_Scythe!
I thought the only decent part of that song was the keyboards...
haha, I agree, the keys are the only thing that makes that song at least somewhat bearable.

AA-12 08-03-2005 11:04 AM

I like the song a lot now :-\

I don't really see anything bad about it.
I like the song a lot now :-\

It's not about good or bad, it's about standards. On the Bodom scale this is just crap. On the count all the metal out there now scale it's ok.

Shadows 08-03-2005 11:09 AM

Meh, I'm with you. I like the song. It had cool riffing, **** good keyboards, an aggressive feel, and just shows a new style of the band. The atmosphere created by the guitar riffing and Janne I thought was excellent. Alexi's vocals are worse than ever, but I expected that. I'm a little disappointed that the song is hardly power metal - no insane guitar licks, the solos could've been better, and like I said, Alexi's vocals are a more aggressive and conventional scream.

Overall I like it a lot. Bodom is changing, and we just need to accept that. I think I'd rather have a band change their style over time like Bodom has instead of just re-releasing Follow the Reaper five more times. In the end, you have to understand that the band does what they want for themselves. They don't owe anything to the fans, they just give us new material and say take it or leave it. Expecting them to go back to the old style and do what they did for years is not only unrealistic, but also stupid.

I dunno, FTR was a really good album ;)

flamesofbodom 08-03-2005 11:17 AM

Yes but do you want them to just keep releasing the same shit over and over instead of doing what they want?

Agreed with you three dudes up there. Bodom is changing, and us hardcore fans have to accept it.

I wouldn't want them to do that either, but there's a difference between a band evolving and doing something that sounds like they're putting no effort into their music.

Anyway, where's everyone hearing about the North American tour? I couldn't find anything about it on their website.

I'm going to a Montreal show which I found out about on a local flyer

Hells Bells 08-03-2005 11:42 AM

Yeesh, they're putting info on local flyers and not posting anything on their website?
Well, if they're stopping in Montreal, they'll most probably stop in Toronto, which I'm definitely going to be looking forward to :D

I know they're also stopping in Quebec, but I have yet to hear anything about Toronto. Keep your fingers crossed.

This is the flyer I saw, I almost cried when I did. http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/5418/mysaviour6tv.jpg

Hells Bells 08-03-2005 11:56 AM

Ummm...are you sure that isn't an old flyer? That looks like Alexander in the pic.

EverytimeIBodom 08-03-2005 12:03 PM

yeah I saw that, but I contacted the local Metal Organizing people (http://www.ottawametal.com) and they are organizing a bus and such.

edit: And yes it is Alexander

Huber 08-03-2005 02:40 PM

I'm glad to see acceptance to that new song.

I don't hear a shred of metalcore in it though, just a new direction.

Edit:

I don't see a point in saying "I favor old blah blah" because I like them both. What's the point? This song IMO is good enough to merit a "Hell yeah! Can't wait until the new album!" There isn't any shame to hide.

Yeah, and it's a good change, I think. I mean, I love the older stuff, but I love the newer songs just as much as I do, say "Silent Night Bodom Night" or "Wrath Within". Bodom is Bodom, they're always great.

I'm surprised that they'd put that pic instead of one of the new line up...

I agree completely. It may be new Bodom and it may be different Bodom. But in my book, there's still no such thing as bad Bodom.
