|

|
That's about 20 miles from where I live and Wales pretty much sucks in general it has way too many council estates and crappy weather.
Well, the weather here isn't much better I suppose (although it's also really nice right now) |
(/is late) I'd have to agree about A Tale For The Ages being one of the greatest emo songs.
|
Hey, who here likes Refused? I just got Songs to fan the Flames of discontent yesterday :D
|
They're an awesome band, although I prefer The Shape Of Punk To Come personally. Not sure why you posted that here though .

Random post but yeh i love refused. I've got Songs to fan the Flames of discontent, the shape of punk to come and the everlasting ep. :) I might get one of their t-shirts. |
You're really funny.
|
I still hate you.
lolz. |
I think that Refused to too hardcorey to be punk, so i posted that here.
|
Yeah but this is the Emo/Screamo community thread, it probably would have been better off in Hardcore/Metalcore, anyway no one dislikes Refused so it doesn't matter that you posted it here.
|
Community thread meaning talk about anything. :p
"Winter Solstice" = Best Kite Flying Society song ever. |
refused are pretty much untouchable.
|
Agreed. I love Refused. If you haven't check out Showbread before, check them out, they have Refused written all over them.
|

"Winter Solstice" = Best Kite Flying Society song ever.
Is there anywhere I could get some Kite Flying Society? I've been looking but hadn't found anything... |
I read somewhere that Kodan Armada's Collections 1 comes with "special hand-sewn lyric sheets". Could someone enlighten me as to what exactly a hand-sewn lyric sheet would be?

They probably hand wrote the lyrics themselves. That's the only thing that I could think of... either that or they sown something together and the lyrics are on that. My guess would be the first. |
i never got into refused. :upset: maybe i need to listen again.
|

IM me in aim/msn. I have everything they recorded. |
Haha troof, the weather is good the moment though.
Yeh, this is about the first time in a year im glad in Cornhole. |
The only reason they're untouchable is because of this kind of empty hype around the "scene" and the fact that "New Noise" was an MTV2 anthem. Refused is good but no where near the best. The Shape of Punk to Come is an original and unique album but one of the reasons it's considered monumental is people fell for the bombastic liner notes. It made the album grander than it really was. Solid album, but not as revolutionary as some people say. Jazz and electronics have been mixed into heavy music long before Refused (Cynic) so I don't see how their doing that makes them so original.
Someone could totally write an essay on just how much effect (if any) refused had on punk/hardcore. |
You and I<3. I just got their discography in Boston. Good times. I also got Still Life - The Incredible Sinking Feeling.
discuss? |
You And I are amazing. 140 jcm or whatever = an INCREDIBLE song.
I just picked up a Toru Okada LP. Everyone should order one off of Shock Value's website. |

|
I'm probably going to write my honors thesis on something like that. Influences on punk/hardcore. I'm going to use hardcore as a platform to understand technicality versus emotion. Refused is an example of emotion through innovation.
I did my 12th grade honors essay on the history of emotional hardcore. I had an upper limit of ten pages though, and there were several waves of bands I had to leave out. San Diego artcore got ignored, as well chicago post-emo, and the late 90's northeast screamo boom. I kinda want to go back to it now, cause it was more than 2 years back, and the actual writing took place in one night. |
I wrote a paper on how to write a generic metalcore song for an English class. I got a B on it.
|
In a music theory class we had to write our own song I chose to do a metalcore song but instead of actually trying I used the formula most metalcore bands use (verse chorus verse2 chorus breakdown chorus until end) and had my friends band play it (extra credit if we recorded it) and got a 104 on the project. My teacher said it showed real musical depth and insightful lyrics into a creative genre of music. The lyrics were all like "oooh im depressed and want to kill myself" etc.
