Darkness 06-05-2005 05:21 PM

Yeah I know, some dude... don't remember his name (Knife something I think) recorded me the growling verses of the drapery falls on guitar so I'm just ganna go over that.

Warning: Don't expect any clean vocals from me, as I'm very very monotone...

Deth 06-05-2005 05:22 PM

I think Cain said he would do clean, so no worries.

Darkness 06-05-2005 05:23 PM

Alright cool.

Darkness 06-05-2005 05:38 PM

We have a month to do this... that should be enough time.

What are our lineups so far?

azbassman 06-05-2005 11:14 PM

i havent been on for a while(mom got married) but yeah, what do you guys need for this comp...i can do bass and some vocals, mainly growling and if i push it some clean, but just tell me if you need either

As for line up
1. Masters Apprentices
2.The Moor
3. To bid you farewell

EDIT: i am getting an adapter hopefully sometime this week (GO RADIOSHACK) but until then im unable to record

Deth 06-06-2005 11:28 AM

Same with me and Radioshack. Luckily, I know what I need. I'm playing bass as well, but we can share if you have decent tone.

Darkness 06-06-2005 04:16 PM

Alright my parents are gone for the next hour... I'm ganna record some vocals, but of all days I'm not at 100%... If I'm happy with the recording I will post it.

Edit: Ok hows tomorrow sound??? I went over it alone with the song and NAILED it, but now I'm feelin a bit weak and don't want to try growling the song again... but tomorrow it will be up forsure.

Im not going to be able to record anything...*sighs*... but i can help find tabs for song and anything else...so just shout if u need anything (Opeth must win!!!)
EDIT: I was looking in the other offical threads and so far it looks like were the only ones acually doing anything...and when is the deadline for the songs

funk_metalguitarist 06-07-2005 12:46 AM

I can play a lot of Opeth's stuff on guitar but I have nothing to record it with. But if you guys need advice or ideas I can help :).

Cardboard Headgear 06-07-2005 01:21 AM

I can record acoustic and electric guitairs, clean and growl vocals, and bass for whatever songs we do. I'm not claiming any spots, just listing what I can do so I can basically fill in whatever we don't have someone to do. Still need to give you guys a little clean singing sample. But alas, I cannot do it now, as it is time to sneak into my girlfriend's house. Ill try and record something before work tomorrow.

mick7 06-07-2005 04:41 AM

I can also help you guys nail some guitar stuff i you

Grey Incision 06-07-2005 05:02 AM

I can do pretty much all their guitar stuff...............but no recording stuff:( and i can also growl, fairly well i think. i'm better at clean vocals though as i can't growl for a long time.

By the way, off topic but eh, everyone check out Vintersorg, it's the black metal version of Opeth methinks

Deth 06-07-2005 10:08 AM

Anyone who can't record, just download Audacity, buy a 1/4 to 1/8 inch adapter and plug the output of your amp into the computer and record. Give it a try.

Cain 06-07-2005 10:20 AM

If nothing else, I would like to do acoustic and/or leads for our songs. I'm not as much a fan of Opeth's rhythm stuff and I'm also not technically capable enough in my right hand to handle it, I think. I'm also good at hearing all the different parts Opeth put into the music and breaking them down.

(I could handle any song from Morningrise with no difficulty, and I also see no difficulty with MAYH songs. After that it gets tricky, rhythm-wise.)

Deth 06-07-2005 10:23 AM

I think you have the lead job.

We don't have a drummer do we? Son of a bitch.

Det_Nosnip 06-07-2005 10:52 AM

No equipment, sorry. :(

Who has acoustic dibs?

Speaking of drummer, I don't know if thisfilter is a fan but perhaps I could send him a MIDI patch and he could work out a drumkit from hell arrangement that would sound quite realistic.

Someone in there says that the demo leaked on Kerrazy.. But I can't find it anywhere on there.. hmm.

No one has been here for a while. I think you can have acoustic as well, but I know rhythm is taken.

As for the drum thing, we may have to do that.

Darkness 06-07-2005 04:36 PM

Alright guys, heres my growling sample. The guitar was done by Knifeboy.

It didn't turn out as well as it should have, as I'm still a little under the weather but its alright. If you don't like it at all, tell me why so I can maybe work on it...

Drynwhyl 06-07-2005 04:40 PM

I've done some growls on a Demon of the Fall cover... and a bloodbath cover. people say I sound a bit like Akerfeldt, which I think is bull****. I'll post em in the near future.

LifeSwornToMusic 06-07-2005 07:11 PM

I have loved Opeth since '95 when they came out.

Darkness 06-07-2005 07:21 PM

Come on guys... judge my growls.

When you're screaming, growling, shouting, or whatever you need to do it full throttle or else it won't sound good. Do it when no one's home and you can growl as loud as you'd like.

Also, concentrate on doing it from the deepest part of your gut. What you did sounded like it came solely from your throat.

Not bad, but would sound great with practice and improvement.

azbassman 06-07-2005 08:31 PM

It sounds pretty good but ^^ he basically covered everything with some pratice it would sound better

Hey, you guys...Opeth fans might enjoy the Israeli band Orphaned Land. They mix clean vocals with grunts like Opeth does, and the music is full of exotic middle eastern instruments and melodies. They also sing in about 5 different languages...I made a thread dedicated to them with samples from their latest album, "Mabool." Check it out!
