How's it going being a king Jom?

But wolf spiders are awesome.

/is arachniphobic
Same here man, as Dr. Jake Destructo and Bartender (I think these two) would know. |
/is afraid of spiders
Wolf spiders are harmless... they (when I say 'they,' I mean the females) look very strange because they carry their eggs on their back in a pouch made from their silk. It's kind of freaky when you watch the eggs hatch. If you're truly morbid, you can smush the spider for a strange effect. Have you seen my hummingbird photograph? I'm quite proud of it, just because it sat still for as long as it did :)
How's it going being a king Jom?
Everything's in place, so much brighter from today. It's good to be the King. [insert any other random cliché here] |
I'm afraid of all spiders, harmless or not. They just scare the living hell out of me for some indescribable reason.
I love that hummingbird. It also reminded me of when I came home from school today only to find a stray cat laying on my front lawn. It looked friendly, so I didn't disturb it. As I walked up the steps, I noticed it had a dead bird in its mouth! That was one strnge scene. |
Well i just went to get several litre bottles on Stella, and i'm kicking back with them now and listening to Arsis.
Good times. |
Leviathan was definitely one of the most painstaking reads I had to do, even though you try so hard to think you came away with something after reading it. I can't say that I did, save for a headache.
I thought that my Greek classes were going to be boring texts, but they definitely pale in comparison. Thucydides, as great of a historiographer as he was for his time, was irritating to read just because my professors at the time insisted that we read his entire history. The Iliad and The Odyssey were good books, and what I came away with after that class was a little more worthwhile. The Aeneid was also decent, I didn't find too much trouble with that. Socrates wasn't too bad, either, and neither was Aristophanes' Clouds and the other book we read, the name escapes me now. Anyway, I just hated the extraordinary amount of papers we had to write for that class to compliment the extraordinary amount of reading I had to do. I'm just glad that that class is over and done with, heh. I had to read a little bit of The Two Treatises of Government by Locke - man, talk about another bored-like-wood reading.
It honestly depends, in the case of the old Greek poems and such, on what translation you're reading. Some are infinitely easier: in truth, the most painstakingly translated editions (the ones that command respect in the translation field) tend to be the ones that are the most impossible to read, which makes sense. Thucydides' History of the Peloponesian War was atrocious, however: I have a feeling it would be difficult to read in any serious translation. I have lots more old text to look forward to. We're gonna be reading "City of God" by St. Augustine, in addition to Plato, Machiavelli, the entirety of Shakespeare's "Henriad" ("Richard II," "Henry IV Pts. I and II" and "Henry V"), "Leviathan" by Hobbes. Then in the second semester we modernize it a little. Byron's "Don Juan," Tolstoy's "War and Peace" (God help me), Stendhal, and lots of history books by WWI/WWII expert John Keegan. Fun stuff. |
I think it's basically a nice honor. Nothing really significant.

Oh, well cool. Thanks man. :) I'm in a rewriting stage. I'm also gonna cut out the middle section (with the harmonized leads, and the wacky drumming) of the distorted half of the LOTR song, as many of my non-instrumental-fan friends have said they tuned out during the last six minutes because the dynamics are all the same. It'll cut the song by two minutes and it'll be more managable. Those sections didn't translate well into the rewrite anyway. Oh, and I got into the second blues ensemble, and our rehearsal last night was NASTY. Plus, my name's starting to get around campus as a good guitar player so maybe more people will tap me for musical performance and stuff. Which would be great, as I stink at band dynamics. Gotta go to chorus now. See you all later. |
No, i don't like DT atall.

I am not a fan of Dream Theater but some of there stuff is alright.

I don't like Dream Theater either.

I prefer Dark Throne to any band at the mo. I love Dark Throne at the minute, especially Soulside Journey and Hate Them.
|
I like a few of DT's songs, but some of them really annoy me. I just can't get by the vocals, LaBrie just has the most ***** voice of all time.
