Lightningmetal, for some reason that site will not work. can you do megaupload.com or ysi?

Huber 08-25-2005 11:22 PM

How did that thing get to 30 megs?

lightningmetal666 08-25-2005 11:23 PM
Lightningmetal, for some reason that site will not work. can you do megaupload.com or ysi?
I could, but I don't know how to use those. I only know how to use rapidshare. Maybe If you gave me an email address or something, I could send it as an attachment. Or some helpful advice on using those would work too.

Huber 08-25-2005 11:25 PM

Yousendit.com is really easy to use. Just go there and it should be self-explanatory.

Joe 08-25-2005 11:25 PM

Am I just not seeing the link somewhere? It gives me a page with several links, none doing with the file, then it asks if I want free or premium and then it says something about the file not working or something. on Megaupload you just find the file, and don't put in an email address. call it what you want and then click upload

I'm going to upload my version of Fade to Black. I know it needs work, but a few months ago when we talked about S&D people didn't want to do FTB because they didn't want to ruin. So does my version completely ruin it? I know it needs work, but we could cover that one too.

Guys... we should get these on cds and send them to James or somethin

lightningmetal666 08-25-2005 11:31 PM

Well I'm uploading using yousendit. I didn't put an email address, that's what I was concerned about.

Hopefully, It'll work.

(note, I opened this thread in a seperate window.)

edit: YSI isn't working, so I'm trying megaupload.

here it is:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=33TU5IF1

Hopefully it'll work this time. Good night.

Joe 08-26-2005 12:38 AM

Ok here's my Fade to Black. I know it needs a lot of work just tell me if i completely ruined it.

Chu 08-26-2005 12:46 AM

/Downloading Joe's Fade To Black.

I warn you though, if you did ruin it

Edit: I really like your sound. As for the way it's played, it doesn't ruin it.
But at the same time there is definately room for improvement, once you have it all nailed down though... Orgasmic.. Now do For Whom The Bell Tolls.

I like it alot.

I just had my little brother listen to it the whole way through (It's his favourite song too  ), he really loved it. When it came to the final solo, he just kinda laughed and went "Well now he's just showing off!!!" so yeah man, very well done :thumb:

Joe 08-26-2005 09:26 AM

Thanks man :)

So I'm listening to the FWTBT rhythm. I think the intro and the verses are a little slow, but I haven't heard the album version in ages. I like the tone and the quality is pretty good.

lightningmetal666 08-26-2005 09:34 AM

Thanx guys, I thought the intro was a little slow myself. It has a weird time signature I think.

I just used audacity and a computer mic. My guitar is an Ibanez GRX20 with a marshall mgcd 10 watt amp. For my tone, I just used a DoD Death metal distortion pedal with eq of:

treble=6
mid=3
bass=10

Not bad I don't think. :thumb:

Hey gocaps, nice cover of FTB. I'm listening to it right now and it's pretty rockin'. Intro solo is kinda off, but still  .
I like your tone for the solos, what gear did you use?

One more thing, Nice chops. :thumb:

lightningmetal666 08-26-2005 10:07 AM

I nominate Gocaps for lead work on this project.

Jev 08-26-2005 02:32 PM

So... how's the recording going?

Joe 08-26-2005 02:47 PM
I nominate Gocaps for lead work on this project.
I can't really do the part that's already in the song. But I'll check out the speed and how it sounds and everything and i'll see. I'm supposed to be receiving recording gear like Cubase and some mics very soon.

Gear... let's see... Epiphone SG, Line 6 spider combo amp (tre-3/4 mid- 0 bass 1/2 dist-full)

Britton 08-26-2005 04:26 PM

I'm getting a spider soon!

why is fwtbt such a big file?
and can you convert it to mp3?

Agitator01 08-26-2005 04:31 PM
I'm getting a spider soon!

Yes you can, there are free program downloads on google that allow you to convert files to MP3 format.

Endless Obsession 08-26-2005 04:31 PM

I can do the running riff if nobody else can but Id rather not because all i have is a computer mic and it sucks.

Chu 08-26-2005 06:04 PM

You can convert the .wav to .mp3 using Microsoft's Recording Program too.

Edit: I want Gocaps to do lead work. I haven't heard anyone else's work here, but I think Gocaps is probably the best choice, plus I absolutely love his sound.

Does anyone have any recordings of Cliff in Trauma? Or any recordings of Trauma at all?!

Cliff died today :(

Britton 08-26-2005 06:28 PM

on this day? wow I get really sad when I hear about how he died cause it didn't
have to be that way...oh well only the good die young.

I'm downloading ftb right now and I can't wait. how long have you all been playing
your instraments?

Chu 08-26-2005 06:30 PM

Myself, a very short time!Only like 18 months or so...

By the way, I'm Australian, so I think I'm a day ahead of you guys it's 10:30am 27/08/2005 here.

heavy metal kid 08-26-2005 06:35 PM

i thought he died on september.

Britton 08-26-2005 06:48 PM

Yea I'm not really sure on what day he died but it was tragic

hey I liked that cover man!

vashts80 08-26-2005 08:33 PM

yeah, September 26th/27th depending on how you say it.

I'm gonna go record the bass track to Bells, wish me luck.

Britton 08-26-2005 08:37 PM

^Luck!

Okay I have a zoom gfx-5. how can I get the AJFA sound out of it?

Joe 08-26-2005 09:07 PM

Cliff died today :(
Sorry man... you're a month off. It'll be 20 years in one year and one month.

He died on September 26th (Sweeden time, so it was the 26th everywhere but like australia), 1986. He was run over by a bus.

I'll record whatever you guys want me too, i'm lost. Have fun with that...
Edit: I want Gocaps to do lead work. I haven't heard anyone else's work here, but I think Gocaps is probably the best choice, plus I absolutely love his sound.
Thanks, but I'm ok with anyone else (who has a solo in mind) doing it. If anyone has some ideas for me that'd help. Right now i'm just improving.

My ideas for the rhythm behind the solo is...

(tuned however)
E-like-intro--|--like-other----------------
B-twice-vv--|--intro-riff-8x--------------
G-----------|-------------5-------------
D-4-4-2---pick-------2-5-5-7-----------
A-4-4-2---slide-------2-5-3-7-----------
E-2-2-0-----|--------0-3---5-----------

just to start, any other ideas?

Trivium 08-26-2005 09:09 PM
i thought he died on september.

yeah well the band died on June 4th 1996

Chu 08-26-2005 09:20 PM
yeah well the band died on June 4th 1996
I'm thinking the band died about September '86

vashts80 08-26-2005 09:22 PM

kk Bass for Bells:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2890SGOB

Rate etc.

For the record:

Ibanez GSR200 -> Big Muff Russian -> Ibanez IBZ10B Bass Practice Amp -> Line-In on Audigy2 through cheap Radioshack cable with end converter -> Audicity

Edit: It is a little sloppy in some parts, like I ****ed up on turning my Muff off after four rounds of the chug-chug-chug-chug riff and a few other places, but nothing that can't be hidden in the mix or re-recorded or whatever, hah

lightningmetal666 08-26-2005 09:42 PM
I haven't heard anyone else's work here
Well I did post me doing a cover of Van Halen's You Really Got Me.

I did the solos and everything. It should be a couple of pages back.

Joe 08-26-2005 10:23 PM

Ok guys I just recorded an idea for the pre solo. It would be after a chorus.

I'll megaupload in a min. Where it's just rhythm is where the solo would go
