I think it's a lot more possible then you think. It's not like Tool thrive to be mysterious. They do that just to keep the private lives private, and when it comes to this I don't think they have anything private being exposed, so no reason to pull tricks.

clearvision 04-20-2006 04:49 PM
Clearvision, I see how one can make a logical argument from that, but I just don't really buy into it. I'm expecting something weird though, it's just odd that Tool hasn't pulled any weird s'hit yet. So far its all been so smooth and expected...same album name and tracklistings...same single that came out on the said date, etc. Is it even possible that Tool are releasing an album without any tricks?
Yeah i don't buy into it. for what reason would they do it? There's plenty of pros from a fan point of view, the suprise and the joke etc...but it seems alot of trouble to go to, all the time and money recording it...all for a laugh?...and i'd like to think that tool fans were widespread enough to catch wind of some kind of proof :-/

Plus it's not a BAD album, it just could be more original, could flow better and could have more focus/substance...

And yeah the lack of review is strange. However Kerrang wouldn't jump the gun and do the review a week early...they'll wait till the week of the review EG next thursday...
What the hell, go ahead. As long as it's just a teaser..

I'm a sucker for punishment..:thumb:
The intro is one of the best bits of the song, you'll just ruin your album experience with that, IMO.

The first bit of Jambi dosn't ruin anything, but the Pot... well. Your choice, but if you d/l that, i'd say get the entire album.

Huber 04-20-2006 05:05 PM

So, I wonder what all that **-*--*** or whatever it was was all about?

sensitiveorgan00 04-20-2006 05:06 PM

y0, is Tool's new album really out?

Shadius 04-20-2006 05:09 PM

Oh yeah.. I dunno. Does it even matter right now? (I bet someone finds some awesome meaning for it soon. lol)

As for the album, I'm loving the first half of the album now, i've sort of digested that bit more the the 2nd half. The 2nd half will soon begin being assimilated.

Oh, and I agree with people that it's odd that Tool havn't seemed to have pulled any weird shit yet, which is why I expect something to happen, yet I have no idea what exactly. I honestly think it's possible the band planted that "Timmy" in Right in Two though, I know Blair watches South Park, I'm sure I read it somewhere, so it's very possible the Tool members do.
y0, is Tool's new album really out?
No... it's leaked, read the thread.

Lemuria 04-20-2006 05:17 PM
i all ready have the new album of Tool and its awesome
Indeed it is, so far my favorite songs are The Pot and Jambi.

Reywas 04-20-2006 05:21 PM

Can someone give me a valid username/password for tdn so I can browse a bit?

deadohiosky9 04-20-2006 05:31 PM
So, I wonder what all that **-*--*** or whatever it was was all about?
Maybe nothing at all. Blair just likes to f'uck with our heads sometimes, because he knows we'll all be freaking out trying to find the deep significance of **-*__***

Adam Jones is GOD 04-20-2006 05:33 PM

We've had Bill Hicks snippets in the past albums, a man who used public commentary in his humour. South Park is the modern day leaders (arguably) in using human observation in spoof form as comedy. Those 2 writers are pretty clever men when you look at what South Park does.

(Oops, dropped a straw there, im clutching at so many)

Unconfirmed rumour that the leak came from one of the review CDs sent out to the major stores online, like Amazon (so they can have a review ready to promote the album). Ill wait to see what hits the mailing list next

Lemuria 04-20-2006 05:39 PM
Indeed it is, so far my favorite songs are The Pot and Jambi.
yeah my favorite song were Vicarious and Rosseta Stoned but this cd is really awesome

Shadius 04-20-2006 05:39 PM

I was talking to my girlfriend about it a bit tonight, she knows I'm a bit obsessed with Tool. Anyway, I'd understand it more if the Timmy thing was in a song like Rosetta Stoned, in the really odd random bit, or in one of their Instrumentalish tracks.

I dunno, Right in Two seems like one of the more meaningful tracks, and the whole Timmy thing is a little detracting from that?

JakeB. 04-20-2006 05:49 PM

I've listened to the album about five times now and I love it :) , still dunno if i like it more than Lateralus or Aenima though. Intension is the only song i don't really like...but oh well, still good. As for the Timmy thing in Right in two they might have actually put in there. They put the "turn that **** down" in Sober.

Insipid2000 04-20-2006 06:44 PM

Ah I dunno Im still gonna wait and buy it instead of DL it.

Dried Muffin Remnants 04-20-2006 06:45 PM

Could anyone send me the album not in .rar or in anything incompatible with iTunes?

anyway, here's my take on the lyrics of the pot. I beleive it was ATC who posted some earlier, but this is what i got from the song. it's pretty different.

Who are you to wave your finger
You musta been out your [hair/head?]
Eyehole-deep in muddy waters
You practically raised the dead.
Rob the grave and snow the cradle
Then burn the evidence down
Soapbox house of cards and glass
So don’t be tossin your stones around

You musta been…high
You musta been…high
You musta been

Foot in mouth and head up ***
So watcha talking bout?
Difficult to dance round this one
Till you pull it out
You musta been…so high
You musta been…so high

[can’t figure it out] shady inference
Kangaroo done hung a juror with the innocent
[can’t figure it out]
Got lemon juice up in your eye
And you pissed all over my black halo
You musta been high, high
You musta been high, high

Who are you to wave your finger
So full of it
Eyeballs deep in muddy water
****in hypocrite
Liar, lawyer, mirror show me
What’s the difference
Kangaroo done hung the guilty
with the innocent
AAAAHHHHH!!

[can’t figure it out]
Got lemon juice up in your eye, eye
And you pissed all over my black halo
You musta been—

So who are you to wave your finger
Who are you to wave your [?] fingers at me
You must have been out your mind
[entire part at about 4:10 is a mystery to me]
Liar, lawyer, mirror for you
Show me what’s the difference
Kangaroo be stoned as guilty
as the government

[the same part I can’t figure out every time]
Got lemon juice up in your eye, eye
You pissed all over my black halo
You musta been high, high, high, high
Eyeballs deep in muddy water
Eyeballs deep in muddy waters
[can’t figure it out]
You must have been out your mind

Everyone feel free to correct.
Could anyone send me the album not in .rar or in anything incompatible with iTunes?
You realise .rar is like a .zip file, right? You have to unzip the rar file to play what is probably mp3's or wma's or whatever inside.

Thanks sorry about the similarities:rolleyes:

Dried Muffin Remnants 04-20-2006 06:57 PM

The problem was that it went straight to windows media player and I can't seem to be able to unzip it.

Do you have the "winrar" software, I suggest d/ling that unzipper program. it should automatically set itself to .rar files and it should open for you.

What Tool song should I learn on bass guys? I need something very fun

Otherside 04-20-2006 07:03 PM

My friend said that Schism was fun to play, but I don't know myself.

misfits967 04-20-2006 07:04 PM

Does anyone have a tab for Vicarious that includes the time signatures? I can tell that that song is very odd, and I was just interested in all of the crazy time signatures in it.

thanks

AA-12 04-20-2006 07:06 PM

It's all in 5/4.

Shadius 04-20-2006 07:12 PM

It's more like 10/8, but maybe I'm just being picky. The dynamics of the beat changes in more of a ten note pattern.

What do you know on bass by Tool? If you don't know any, Schism, 46&2 and the Grudge would be obvious choices. Vicarious would also seem fun.

Lateralus might be something a bit more advanced if you can get the slides down.

H. would be a personal favourite.
Could anyone send me the album not in .rar or in anything incompatible with iTunes?
Extract the .rar, the real files are m4a which is an iTune file.

Forty Six & 2 is the best thing ever for Bass man. I love jamming with that song.
