Nah, I liked your idea of starting an online band.

I've never been in a band before (at least not one that had all the needed members in it) plus most of the people I know either don't play or are noobs at instruments (like >3 months
I've always wanted to learn Devil's Dance. This is one of their few good Drop tuning songs.

metalhead_matt 08-24-2005 03:38 PM

lightningmetal666:  mwa hahaha << evil laugh
flower_dance: good :thumb:

ReLoad?

lightningmetal666 08-24-2005 03:41 PM

Yeah, everyone rips on it, so let's make it better.

metalhead_matt 08-24-2005 03:42 PM
Yeah, everyone rips on it, so let's make it better.
I actually have something to declare: (lol)
I think the ReLoad album is actually pretty good, people overlook the fact it has songs on like fuel, fixxxer, the memory remains, bad seed, devils dance etc.

there :)

lightningmetal666 08-24-2005 03:45 PM

Most people are stuck on Memory Remains, Fuel, and Unforgiven II, but I like
(I think it's on this album or load) Hero of the Day and of course Devil's Dance

Jev 08-24-2005 03:45 PM

Yeah some songs on it are great but to me it can't compare to RTL.

lightningmetal666 08-24-2005 03:47 PM

Hey, Everyone here has said at least one bad thing about St. Anger.

Let's make a list of stuff we didn't like about the album, get an idea of the best song on it, improve it, and use that as our second song.

metalhead_matt 08-24-2005 03:48 PM

yeah, unforgiven II, another one..devils dance is on ReLoad, here of the day on load. anyways, im off to bed, il post in here tomorrow and I'll try and record a rhythm section. good luck with GCSE results anyone :thumb:

EDIT: that aint spamming

lightningmetal666 08-24-2005 04:02 PM

As it pertains to those who would like to hear my playing capabilities. I've got a link that goes to me playing a cover of You Really Got Me.

This way you guys can decide for yourselves who would be best suited to do rhythm to For Whom The Bell Tolls

Ha, while metalhead_matt sleeps, I shall get more posts than him.

lightningmetal666 08-24-2005 04:28 PM

Hey Britallica, I didn't know you were a texan. I thought you were british.

Show's ya how well I pay attention.

My life is pretty much girls and guitars as well, but since I'm without both for the moment, I'm very sad.

Britton 08-24-2005 04:42 PM

Ah me too (well the girl part) I still have the guitars when my dad gets back in town
I'm gonna post my rig...

it's better not having the girl I wanted cause she isnt that big of a Tallica fan
(but I still love...always have always will....when she broke up with me I listened
to all those great songs...aint my bitch sweet amber so on and so fourth
yea I'm Texan my name is Britton so there you have it

you should convert your file so I dont have to download adobe

I'm recording my first real complex song this weekend so if you get me a recording
of fwtbt I can mix it then. when I'm in the studio working

Joe 08-24-2005 09:36 PM

Ah, haven't posted here at all today...withdrawal...

So i just bought some new recording equipment off musiciansfriend.com. I'm now in debt $177, but hey, i need the stuff. I've gotten pretty good at the Fade to Black solos so I want to record and hear how they sound.

So you guys are doing For Whom The Bell Tolls? Awesome. Who's doing what?

Lightningmetal, i realized the other day when I was listening to Fuel that no matter what cd it is, they always seem to put out something good. Some better than others, obviously, but even their "bad" music is pretty awesome.

I'm pretty sure it's that because isn't Britallica a band? Ah, nvm.

Well, you're fairly new aren't you? I wasn't expecting you to know that much... even I don't.

I've got both :D . She doesn't like Metallica but she appreciates their talents and she's gotten a little into the Black Album because it's not so heavy metal. So i'm good.

Chu 08-24-2005 09:53 PM

I want Gocaps to help with For Whom The Bell Tolls...

Joe 08-24-2005 09:55 PM

awww that's so sweet...

i'm kidding. seriously? ok, well i'd have to learn some of it cuz i don't know all of it, but i'd be happy to.

i just tried the rhythm a whole step down and it sounds pretty awesome. maybe we could do it in a diff tuning? but i didn't come up with the idea, so are we keeping it like the studio version or different?

Britton 08-24-2005 10:34 PM

We want to add a KEA type solo to it it's tretty much the same though
I can do anything on it (my vocal style is totaly differernt so I won't sing)
but I;ve been talking about bass and the mixing.
Lightningmetal would you play lead and let gocaps play rythym?
....if we do that what are you going to do chu? did you say you can do the drums?

this girl likes the black album but doesn't care for anything else...
oh well...the funny thing that at the moment I've had three girls call
me tonight and I'm waiting for another...butI'm not ntrested in any of them

Britton 08-24-2005 10:36 PM

would you guys also like to do enter sandman or skom?
and yea I like the idea of doing it in another tuning
what were you thinking of d. c?
talk to ya'll later

lightningmetal666 08-24-2005 10:45 PM

Me and matt decided to have like dueling leads in it. Someone else suggest a drum solo, then a bass solo.

Chances are, this is gonna be one hell of a cover. :thumb:

I could do a lead for you guys but I don't know if it'll be good. The only scales I can play with total confidence are pentatonics. I was hoping to add some really dark scales to it, just to freak people out. I'm sure I could learn a few diminished, but not it time to get this up and going.

In that case, I just stick to doing a blazing pentatonic run. Hell I did it in my garage band class when we did a jam of Seek and Destroy. I don't think I've ever played that f**ckin' fast in my life before. I more or less treated the fast solo as if it were in free time and just let the bastard rip. I don't remember how I did it, all I know was that I had a bunch of people watching me and got real nervous. I was so nervous that adrenaline took over and I impressed a lot of people including the drummer. :amaze:

lightningmetal666 08-24-2005 10:55 PM

Did anyone get a chance to hear me play? I put a link on here of me doing a cover of Van Halen.
Well, you're fairly new aren't you? I wasn't expecting you to know that much... even I don't.
I also know that your real name is Joe, and you are 4 years younger than me.

*Waves hands as if doing magic gesture*

Nah I'm not magic, but I do read the R&M Introduce yourself thread.

My profile is on page 7.

Waiting to ask my brother about his drums, but yeah.
I guess I could *try* vocals...
But take into account, if we want this to be decent quality, I probably shouldn't take part :p
My recording of drums is just horrible quality...

Anyway, I think it would be sick to add our own solos. Maybe we could give it an extra verse or something...

Huber 08-25-2005 01:06 AM

I like the solo and tuning thing you guys are doing. That sounds sick.

http://store.metallica.com/store/store.asp?nProductID=12145

I got that shirt today. It's spiffy.

Chu 08-25-2005 02:12 AM

Sliptallica, would you do drums for us?
I have the drums already, but as with guitar, we'll get different versions and we can vote which is better :thumb:
That way we can get the best possible cover :)

vashts80 08-25-2005 03:01 AM

I don't really know the bass for many 'tallica songs, but I know Bellz pretty much perfectly, although it'd sound a bit iffy because I go Bass -> Distortion -> Amp -> Line in on soundcard, but that's easily fixable with a bit of tweaking on my part :x

I know ehm...Bellz and Puppets (I do parts of it my own way cos I'm too lazy to learn it the "proper" way, haha) and Whiplash (I do the solo my own way instead of the "proper" way)

I could do a recording of Bells tomorrow if you want, playing along with the studio track.

come on chu, do the vocals :) and ask your bro if you can upload the drums anyway, doesnt matter about the sound quality. like i said, i have a standard mic sat next to my amp

metalhead_matt 08-25-2005 04:04 AM

lightningmetal, you know you want to do a like dark sounding solo? you know the second orion solo, dont know what scale it is, goes like:

E|------------------------------------------------
B|------------------------------------------------
G|------------------------------------------------
D|--------------11-------------11-12-14-11-12-14 etc.
A|-12-11-12-14-----11-12-14---------------------
E|------------------------------------------------

that sounds pretty dark...
