Those quotes are far darker:

"Storm a funeral scream bewitched by funeral underworlds,"

Shadows 09-26-2005 08:06 PM

^^^ What was that? I found it quite funny.

RiceMonster 09-26-2005 08:14 PM

I'm pretty anti-Slipknot myself, but I leave people who like them alone. I don't like any nu-metal anyway

np: Boris - Huge

Iron Man 09-26-2005 08:18 PM

I don't mind if people like the band, the only thing I get angry about is if people go around saying "HAIL ME, FOR I LISTEN TO SLIPKNOT, THE HEAVIEST BAND EVAR!!!1"

Jom 09-26-2005 08:21 PM

Their stuff from Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. is pretty bizarre material. I really like the basslines in a couple songs. But man, the singer they had around that time was putrid.

I know a few of these kids. They wear Slipknot shirts every other day, and they think they're so hXc, just because they listen to Slipknot. I still like Slipknot though. :p

Agreed, or when they call them death metal. That's when I go nuts.

Colsefni was a terrible vocalist. Corey Taylor is better, although the songwriting took a turn for the worse when he entered the picture.

I'm generally very anti-nu metal myself, so it's always a wonder why I'm so interested in Slipknot. Obviously I don't think they're the heaviest death metal band in the world or anything, but I like a lot of what they've put out anyway. Their s/t was awful at any rate.

The S/T is the ones the fanboys worship anyway. :p

On a random note, today was the first day I've taken a picture of myself in 2-3 years. Which probably just makes me lame. Aha.

Is anyone else going to watch the Martin Scorsese - Bob Dylan documentary? I'm starting to really get into Dylan, and Scorsese is one of my favorite directors, so this is perfect for me.

magicbus 09-26-2005 09:06 PM

I just watched it. It was pretty cool.

Jom 09-26-2005 09:07 PM

Jake: you're nine pages too late, heh.

magicbus 09-26-2005 09:08 PM

Yea, the second part is on tomorrow night. For me at least, I'm not sure what time zone you're in.

I'm on the West coast, so I think so too.

Is it good as a beginner's guide to him?
I'm on the West coast, so I think so too.

Yea, it talks a lot about his influences and how he got started. I'm not like a Bob Dylan genius or anything, I just like his music, so I thought it was really interesting to hear about his life. And the footage of him playing was pretty cool too.

ATM 09-26-2005 10:53 PM

So I just saw Porcupine Tree!

:-D

blue3 09-26-2005 10:56 PM

How was it?

ATM 09-26-2005 10:57 PM

Sooooo good. I was about 3 feet away from the stage.

magicbus 09-26-2005 10:57 PM

I've done the same **** mission on GTA3 three times now, and I only had to kill 2 more guys when I died. This pisses me off because I need to go all the way back to the other island to get the mission again

NP: Ulver - Lost In Moments

Leper 09-27-2005 12:23 AM

GTA 3 is a frusterating game. I haven't played it in so long since I came so close to beating that burning mansion mission then died right at the end. Almost everyone I know has beat it before me, it's embarassing. :-/

Congratulations 09-27-2005 12:26 AM

My mom just gave me a huge religious speech because I called someone a "dick"

Having a religious parent gets kind of annoying. Anytime I talk to my mom about anything, even if it's something on the news. She starts yammering on about praying for so and so, and God will do such and such.

Leper 09-27-2005 12:30 AM

Hehe, I sympathize with you. Every sunday my mom and I go through the same routine. She yells downstairs and asks if I'm going to church, I say no, then she puts me through a mini guilt trip..It's getting old fast.

Stoic 09-27-2005 03:35 AM

I hate it!
/showdown with dentist
I have no problem with my dentist, in fact she's rather nice.

I think I have to venture to the shops soon, I'm down to half a loaf of bread and two microwavable chicken burger things :upset:
So I just saw Porcupine Tree!

Were they playing with monsieur Fripp?

Bartender 09-27-2005 05:15 AM

I've never had a nice dentist. In fact once I had this new dentist (who didn't seem to last long) who was Scottish, with very light/bright ginger hair and a really annoying voice. He was positively worrying.

I no longer fear going to the dentists. I just find I never like the dentists themselves.

munky_magik 09-27-2005 05:17 AM

I've never really understood people's fear of dentists. I mean, they only want to help :(

Thor 09-27-2005 05:18 AM

Bartender 09-27-2005 05:20 AM
I've never really understood people's fear of dentists. I mean, they only want to help :(
I was scared of them at first (when I was younger) simply because what they do hurts, whether it helped me or not. Eventually I'd had enough dental work that I didn't really care about the fact that it hurt any more, but at the same time I'd had enough experience of dentists to realise that they're really quite sadistic, in their own way. And though I'd been kind of numbed to it myself, I could still dislike them for it.
