What up my Metalli-friends.....sounds like the subject is gear and rockin out. So heres my question, what kinda half stack should i get if i really wanna go for that classic Kirk Hammett or Hetfeidl sound? this is gonna be my first half-stack seein as all i have now is an old fender solid-state combo amp(80 watt princeton chorus). and a lil marshall practice amp. For good metal crunch i do have a moded- out strat w/ an EMG-81 and a Line 6 Uber metal, which really kicks ***! so many options...but what i want is that huge fat sound, that still cuts through the mix. Any ideas?

Metallica use Mesa Boogies, you could go for that or get a Marshall for the KEA/RTL sound.
Id do rhythm but:
1.) i think someone is already doing it
Yeah, I've got the rhythm recorded today but didn't have enough time to upload it. I should have it uploaded probably sometime tonight.

Hey if you want to do a rhythm part as well you can. Just like Chu said, we can vote on who's is better and We'll use it. It won't hurt my feelings any if I don't get picked.......................(well maybe a little :upset: )

Sharky 08-24-2005 01:51 PM

Sorry for my other topic :-/ but you guessed it...

Can someone direct me to a Nothings Else Matters backing ?? (the two guitars)

Thanks

:) I'll have to record it tomorrow now, its too late (apparently) to have my amp on, and I couldn't find my microphone :(

That sucks. I'd just tell your parents you're gonna record anyway. Give everyone a heavy metal alarm clock metallica style.

BTW, I was wondering who would be doing vocals?

Also I think that my recording might be off a little but I'll let you guys decide for yourselves. Warning, i had to convert my recording to .wav format. I tried uploading it using rapidshare and after 22 mb. I got pissed and just turned off my computer. I don't know how much hd space you guys have so check before downloading.

Jev 08-24-2005 02:25 PM

Screw not recording, turn it up to full and play. Even if you can't find your mic.

metalhead_matt 08-24-2005 02:30 PM
I think it was father_jack who said he could do the vocals

:p I went did that at a mates house a week ago, took the practice pads of the drum kit, 100 watt amp up full...he got a letter off the environmental agency

lightningmetal666 08-24-2005 02:33 PM

I think chu said he could do them, it's not like it's really important who does them but I just want to make sure that SOMEONE does them.

Besides rhythm, what were you planning to do?
Lead?

Jev 08-24-2005 02:35 PM

Make someone do Death Metal or Opera covers. That'll be somewhat different, an original cover if you will.

I was spending the night at my friend Mike's house and this other guy named Garrett was there with his 7 string esp and his 60 watt crate. My friend mike purposely drank the last of my Dr. Pepper and I gave his soda drinking @$$ one hell of a heavy metal alarm clock with none other that the intro to Master of Puppets.

Needless to say I got socked in the face. :thumb:

Anyways, yeah if you want lead or rhythm it matters not to me, but I know that flower dance, chu, father_jack, and britallica want in on this. Chu says he has the drums already. He'll probably end up with vocals as well, but Britallica says he can do them, so maybe he can do them instead.

Hey, maybe we can do like the studio recording and have two Rhythm players,
Some one can do a short lead, then some one else can have like a second, almost dueling lead?

well you know I said about a lead fill/solo to put in? guitar duel sounds sweeter... :p

Britton 08-24-2005 03:00 PM

Okay so we have Brittallica on bass
I know chu and lightnig metal are talking about
rythym and lead....what does gocaps want to do?
cause I can do really every thing on here so just let
me know the only thing i'm not that good at is vocals
and chu's brother is doing the drumtrack...correct?
so gocaps you just let us know what you want to do
my brother is a sound engineer so I have access to his equipment
so if need be you all can play and I can mix
send me anything you guys record...Like I said I can do most of this stuff
so let me know any positions that need to be filled

I'm listening to Damage inc. right now

Huber 08-24-2005 03:02 PM

If you need any help on drums I can try and go to my friends house and record stuff there. I don't have a kit anymore :(

yeah, do a version :)

lightningmetal666 08-24-2005 03:04 PM

Exactly my point, so let's get the theory out of the way so that we can start writing.

The 'solo' is in C Lydian so I'm sure that someone will have to solo somewhere along the lines of this scale. For a really evil and scary sound, someone should do a solo along the lines of F# Locrian, it is the darkest sound of all of the modes.

For the dueling leads at the end, the best thing I can think of is just playing around with pentatonics and see how it goes.

yeah, I think we should prolong the song aswel...like do the verse and chorus rhythmwithout the singing, and have the guitar duel there
as for the scale stuff, I made a thread a bit ago about getting an online tutor on here, and Im getting help on it :) Ive only been playing since like Christmas but I can play some quite difficult lead stuff, and the guys at the college Im going to said that Im good enough to do A- level (Ive didnt do Music GCSE and Ive never had a lesson :p )

lightningmetal666 08-24-2005 03:14 PM

Well up 'till probably a year ago I was self taught (which meant I could play songs, just couldn't write them) and I've taken this garage band class which BTW they've done covers of this song countless times. I could ask my old prof. if he could help me.

I wish I knew that you guys wanted to change the form of the song. I recorded the rhythm exactly as was on the original recording. I guess I've gotta set up the mike when I get home. *mutters profanities*

 no, you dont have to we could add like a synth/bass fill so you could record the second rhythm part (the part i was on about) and we just add it in?

lightningmetal666 08-24-2005 03:22 PM

I guess we could do that, but Britallica seems to want to be the one that does the mixing. Hey, if really does have a studio for mixing, why not take advantage of it.

Ah......... the wonders of an online band.

Hey, I think I'm catching up to you on # of posts. yay. :p

 i know, we should release it

lightningmetal666 08-24-2005 03:29 PM

Nah, I liked your guy's idea of starting an online band.

I've never been in a band before (at least not one that had all the needed members in it) plus most of the people I know either don't play or are noobs at instruments (like >3 months

This is starting to turn out more like we're playing it live than just recording it.
