I love Kill 'Em All by Metallica, by far their best album of all time.
Led Zeppelin are brilliant, I'd classify them as just 'rock' though.

DuckinFutch8 02-03-2006 04:28 PM

I prefer the newer ska over that 2nd wave stuff, but some of that stuffs pretty good too...

Oh, and classic rock is pretty f'n awesome too, but right now I'm a little more into Ska...
Let me guess, you've only heard 'Love will tear us apart' haven't you?
Guess that's the "heavy metal" intellect that just owned me there
I like some Reggae. My Uncle used to play me some, hes a DJ so he has loads of different CDs, he first played me some King Courtney, that got me into Reggae. However, ive never really got back into it since 2000
shame.. well if you live in the UK and want some cheap CDs to buy.. check out: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000024SG4/qid=1139005845/sr=1-6/ref=sr_1_11_6/203-6245614-8379112

for £2.99 that is an absolute BARGAIN. I bought it not long ago and its a great collection of some of Bob Marleys earlier hits, before he rerecorded them all with Island Records, so the production is a bit ghetto.

Talos 02-03-2006 04:32 PM

Is this Everybody Take The Piss Out Of Ollie Day?

I have Legend ( ? ) by Bob Marley. I like most ofit but not all of it, but I suppose thats with a lot of albums

Der Meister 02-03-2006 04:36 PM

My ipod video came today, preety good, the videos look great.

The battery life doesn't look to be fantastic though,

RushHourSoul 02-03-2006 04:37 PM

How much was that?

Havn't they stopped making the original ipods and mini ones now? Mine has just conked out, needs replacing.

Der Meister 02-03-2006 04:38 PM

£200, but I bought a DVD ripper for £20 and a hardcase for £25 so £245 really.

Talos 02-03-2006 04:41 PM

Ipods are shit.

Creative made an MP4 player way before Apple, I remember because I was looking at it 6 months ago

Thanks for that very intellectual insight.

Little riff I came up with here, i've been working on a few songs latley!

http://www.elementweb.com/upload/uploads/4/Riff%202.mp3

RushHourSoul 02-03-2006 04:43 PM

IMO Ipods have the best 'usability'. They're really easy to use, the layout and controls are perfect. The only thing that sucks is the battery and the apple-trying-to-take-over-your-computer, using that stupid .mp4 file or whaver that only works with Itunes.

Nice, loops pretty well too  You should lay down the drums in the background.

Mike Oldfield style.

hmm, can't say it stuck me as being a great riff straight away. Really needs musical backing so you can see how it would fit in. Also theres a 'wrong' note in the scale there (its chromatic), gives a very strange, ambigous effect.

Talos 02-03-2006 04:47 PM
Thanks for that very intellectual insight.
No worries.

Why get an Ipod though?
Because youre a brand whore?
Creative or a less commercial alternative that dont try to take over your PC and are also very easy to use.

I think if you get an Ipod youre a brand whore.

Im sorry but that is my opinion, I have a Creative Ze Touch 40GB and I havent had one single problem with it and ive had it for two years now. However Ipod batteries brake after a year and have more problems

Der Meister 02-03-2006 04:49 PM

^^I doubt I'll even be using in a year so it doesn't bother me, I had Itunes anyway so it works for me.

That and both my friends creatives broke in the same way, in the headphone jack.

My Ipod has had zero problems apart from the battery life. Zero. The sound quality has been fairly good (as far as mp3 players go). Anyway, iPods are designed well, the touch wheel is great. Really easy to use. Thats why I use them.

The half step is in there on purpose, when you play one fret above or below the 4 note box in that scale it gives it a really "mid eastern" tone to it, it's a pentatonic riff (major).

Well, your allowed opinions but I think that the Creatives are better but Creative need to advertise more. This is where they lose out, if people saw the adverts on buses, tv or whatever, more people would buy them.

The touch pad is great on the Zen Touch, really easy to use and self explanitory. You move your finger up the strip to go up and down to go down. Simple.

I preferred the 3rd generation design, with the row of 4 touch buttons, rather than the ugly-as-sin clickwheel they have now.
Mine is 3g

RushHourSoul 02-03-2006 04:57 PM

Yeah, I love that kind of effect.

edit: to DBJ.

I think that middle-eastern scale is called melodic or harmonic minor (can't remember which).

RushHourSoul 02-03-2006 05:06 PM

Hmm.. me niether, bollocks, and i'm doing Music A Level. A quick trip to musictheory.net will sort that out.

Double Bass Jim 02-03-2006 05:06 PM

Na there are actual mid-eastern scales. Egyptian, arabic ect ect.. TONS of variatons. An example of harmonic minor would be Yngwies playing, he's all over that scale and uses it constantly.

Guess this riff
