DeVotchKa

Guys who did most of the Little Miss Sunshine soundtrack - which btw was a fantastic movie.

amanuensis 03-03-2008 01:42 AM

The Blows Upskirts. I love bands that have minimal musical talent, but just like a super good sense of melody.

Red House Painters- "Katy Song"

This song is so beautiful

YDload 03-03-2008 02:36 PM

yeah but eight minutes? Kozelek really likes to stretch em out.

cbmartinez 03-03-2008 02:39 PM

Yeah, some of the long songs can be tiring but I don't mind "Katy Song," it's captivating and beautiful the whole way through. "Duk Koo Kim" is another one that keeps me interested the whole time.

Anxious 03-03-2008 02:39 PM

Teenage Riot is 7 minutes. I can't get over this.

Such a crappy song also.

Katy Song is not.

Interstate 03-03-2008 02:41 PM

RHP makes me sad.

Anxious 03-03-2008 02:42 PM

Its a pre req to be sad before listening to them.

Interstate 03-03-2008 02:44 PM

Like I am right now then.

*is playing Katy Song*

cbmartinez 03-03-2008 02:45 PM

yeah im feeling pretty down and Katy Song is just so perfect for the mood, it's one of those rainy day songs (the irony being it's absolutely beautiful outside today)

Eliminator 03-03-2008 02:46 PM

those are the two i was thinking of that i dont mind (in fact DKK is my favorite song ever). but those two really long songs on Rollercoaster... i just dont bother with em

Anxious 03-03-2008 02:59 PM
is that sarcasm or are you just crazy :(
Teenage Riot leaves me with a good feeling inside for 3 minutes then it gets tiring.

YDload 03-03-2008 03:28 PM

i think Teenage Riot is one of the few 6+ minute songs that DOESN'T seem too long. it just flies by for me.

Eliminator 03-03-2008 03:30 PM

i dunno i have a permanent boner for everything on that album

that song, especially like 4 minutes in where they start to rock out more makes me want do something with my life

but then i'm like
meh

Anxious 03-03-2008 03:35 PM

Maybe someday I'll listen to DDN again.

Time of Orchids- Namesake Caution

I have multiple mental orgasms whenever I put this on.

pulseczar 03-03-2008 03:48 PM

I don't see why 6 or 8 minutes is such a long time for a song. you and your girly attention spans shoul man up

Anxious 03-03-2008 03:50 PM

No dude, there are plenty of "long songs" that I enjoy. Its just that that song isn't one of them. The time isn't the end all be all factor.

samariah 03-03-2008 03:59 PM
girly attention spans
hey

pulseczar 03-03-2008 04:07 PM

you females can't handle lengthy songs, you'd probably start knitting or cooking or something before getting through half of a Yes song

samariah 03-03-2008 04:25 PM

how long is an average Yes song

Tyr 03-03-2008 04:28 PM

Too long.

samariah 03-03-2008 04:48 PM

bjork can i marry you

amanuensis 03-03-2008 05:04 PM

acoustic albums where its just the lead singer from a non acoustic band

Anxious 03-03-2008 05:09 PM

I just realized that the Melvins are the logical continuation of Black Flag. Gluey Porch Treatments was released in 87, the year after Black Flag broke up, and it is exactly the territory they were headed to.

Boilermaker 03-03-2008 05:22 PM

Green Day - 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours
Boredoms - Super AE

Interstate 03-03-2008 05:25 PM

Tom Waits - Rain Dogs - I can't decide whether I like this more than Bone Machine (the only other album I've heard by Waits).

Black Flag -> Melvins -> Sunn 0)))

the progression of sludge. in the future stoner metalheads will listen to nothing but a pure low C processed through five different fuzz pedals

Unwound - Leaves Turn Inside You

Mute Math - Mute Math

A few of my favorite songs off of it are Collapse, Typical, Chaos, and Control.

I love almost every song on this album, though. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys listening to Muse, The Postal Service, or Radiohead.

br3ad_man 03-03-2008 07:49 PM

I want to see Sunn live again so much. Really, it's by far the most memorable show I've been to.
