Uh no, I mean you may not like him but he is an amazing guitar player, and few people can pull off an all instrumental album as well as he did with Surfing With the Alein.

Blues Rock would really not be fitting, but no genre really would fit him. Some possibilities could be Jazz-Rock and early Alternative. Alternative (Early or not) would be the best, I believe.

dont listen to much instruemental stuff do you? theres alot of instrumental albums better than surfing with the alien. like jeff beck's for example. blow by blow, wired, you had it coming, who else!, jeff, all those are awesome instrumental albums. liquid tension experiments stuff is good too. theres more too

Its probably the version for The Last Waltz, where everybody in the movie is singing. Its very cool.

Good song, the Last Waltz DVD is awesome, pick it up if you haven't seen it.

I've never seen the entire DVD for The Last Waltz..I didn't realize it was on there. That's a cool movie though.

Yea, after the solo, there's the lyrics, then the cool funky part.

The solo is pure ownage though. If I played guitar Gilmour would be the reason I picked it up.

I always try to sound like Gilmour when I play. He always plays the coolest solos consistently...you never hear a bad solo from him. And they don't have to be extremely fast or anything either, just alot of emotion. You never hear Gilmour trying to play a Heartbreaker type solo or anything like that (fast and sloppy).
