you have to turn off all the items, ban characters and limit the number of ledge grabs at ssb tournaments. kof is balanced and tourmanent ready to start with. the creator of ssb said he intentionally designed it as a party game not a competitive fighter. if you go to a tournament and talk about smash people will laugh at you. the rest of the fighting game community looks down on and ridicules smash players even more than mk players

the fact that the game itself is a party game

a) doesn't mean it is not a complex game, in this case it just means that it implements systems which partially randomise the gameplay and that it doesn't feature large input strings for individual commands
b) doesn't mean that it is actually impossible to play it skilfully, just that you don't have to in order to enjoy it
