man, it's about **** time someone thought of a thread like this. metallica kicks *** and they should have their own thread. well done, ridethespiral!!!

What are we doing about teh covers now?
My brother just layed down the drums for For Whom The Bell Tolls pretty good, and I'm probably going to try the guitar soon, if someone else wants to, go ahead, but yeah, if you still wanna do it, just say so.
I can play lead and rythem for that song, its not hard.

Jev 08-23-2005 01:02 PM

I think anyone could play it.

nirvanakickass 08-23-2005 01:17 PM

metallica are too good

metallicas best song is the god that failed from the black album :thumb: no doubt about it. master of puppets and the unforgiven 2 are both good 2

Jev 08-23-2005 01:35 PM

I don't like The God That Failed that much. I think their best song is Ride The Lightning or Damage inc. Meh.

JonG 08-23-2005 01:41 PM

I CAN play all of For Whom The Bell Tolls, but my tone is absolutely shit.

I have a Gibson SG> Fender 15R > mic

:\

metalhead_matt 08-23-2005 01:45 PM

what about dyers eve? lars's best drum work...
and theyve got too many classics to argue over what there best song is

EDIT: Once you have made that for whom the bell tolls cover, post it in here :) make up an old kirk-mustaine-kill-em-all-style-thrash-metal solo for it though, its cryin for a solo or at least some more lead fills

Yeah Damage Inc is a quality thrash song. Altho sometimes the big arse intro pisses me off. And ride the lightning is good but drags on a little.

Sorry for the advertising, but anyone want to sign up to these forums?. It's been set-up by StonedPrune. We need all the members we can get, i think theres about 80 at the moment. About 95% are from MX.

Poor you, 15rs suck. My uncle traded mine for a Marshall 100watt.

Yeah but it does get pretty tiresome when you just wanna listen to the song.

James calls it "The Pan Flute"

It's a the bass going through an effects pedal.

Well actually in the MoP book its says guitar 1 and guitar 2 both with slap back echo.

metalhead_matt 08-23-2005 01:58 PM

its cool, i dont think they should have had with that song though it doesnt link up IMO. It only drags on because of this, because it isnt similar to the song, if there was a song with that being a main theme, it wouldnt drag on. Do you know what i mean?

MRDuCran 08-23-2005 02:06 PM

Yeah i know what you mean.

lightningmetal666 08-23-2005 02:08 PM

Does anyone here know of a program that will convert my audacity files. I'd be very grateful if someone did. This way I can hurry up and record the Rhythm parts of the song.

Agitator01 08-23-2005 02:08 PM
It sounds awesome that synthesizer thing  i dunno what it is
I thought it was controlled reverb to be honest.

metalhead_matt 08-23-2005 02:09 PM

can anyone actually do that intro? has anyone tried?

You saying it doesn't fit with the song and only makes it longer?
If so, I disagree, I love that intro especially on the loudest my speakers will go.

metalhead_matt 08-23-2005 02:13 PM
You saying it doesn't fit with the song and only makes it longer?

no no no what Im saying is that the reason why whoever it was thought it dragged on was because it isnt at all similar to the song. Think about it. Its peaceful, i find that intro soothing, but the song isnt similar. I love the intro but i think they should have made a seperate song with that intro the main theme throughout. So imagine that intro, but exagerated in a sense. you get me?

MRDuCran 08-23-2005 02:13 PM
can anyone actually do that intro? has anyone tried?
I can. It doesn't sound exactly like it because i don't do all the volume swells but i know the right notes.

metalhead_matt 08-23-2005 02:14 PM
I can. It doesn't sound exactly like it because i don't do all the volume swells but i know the right notes.
do you play bass? you said it was played on bass right?

MRDuCran 08-23-2005 02:18 PM

Nah, i play guitar but i thought it was bass, i must be thinking of something else.

Father_Jack 08-23-2005 02:20 PM

That would be cool. I could imagine a "Fade to Black Intro solo" style solo over that theme. It would make a pretty quality instrumental song.

metalhead_matt 08-23-2005 02:20 PM
Nah, i play guitar but i thought it was bass, i must be thinking of something else.
 well I think I might have the notes on a tab somewhere, what is it, volume swell and controlled reverb

metalhead_matt 08-23-2005 02:22 PM
That would be cool. I could imagine a "Fade to Black Intro solo" style solo over that theme. It would make a pretty quality instrumental song.
make one. seriously, if some of you are making a for whom the bell tolls cover, why not take the damage inc intro to a different level, make a song out of it. Like you say, put fade to black intro solo in it. THAT would be awesome, if we actually did this...improvise people

MRDuCran 08-23-2005 02:23 PM
 well I think I might have the notes on a tab somewhere, what is it, volume swell and controlled reverb
Well as i said, it says in the Master of Pupetts book, 2 guitars arranged for one both with heavy slap back echo.

I might actually suggest that to my band, get that sorted. Killer idea :thumb:
