|
all but 3
I'm sure you've heard of them but War Master and Obliteration are pretty good too. |
i see.
well, its not your fault really, metal gets really boring after a while but i always come back to it. |
the only metal i listen to lately is space themed metal lol, and there's not exactly much of that.
and yeah heard those two bands :\\ |

How many space themed metal bands are there? I can only think of The Faceless and Centaurus A.
|
haha, well their stuff has been quite good lately.
js
Can't wait 'till 2023 when they start signing two-waves from now of pop-metal like Roadrunner and Nuclear Blast atm. |
nihilist shirt in the mail ready to filth it up
|
got my Dawn of Possession shirt in the mail today, actually.
|
almost bought one of those a few weeks ago
|

|
think so
but I had just ordered two shirts shortly before and I don't order unless there's more than 2 I want to save on shipping |
In death metal? Impetuous Ritual, Disma, Cruciamentum, Ignivomous, Maim, Denial, Ex Dementia, Krypts, Embrace of Thorns, Claws, Festered, Teitanblood, Horrific, Acid Witch, Revolting...
just to name a few.
I'm hooked on the Revolting album now! |
I need to get serious for a minute...
Do you guys think that all of these new bands popping up that are playing Old School Death Metal are legit? Or is it just sort of a fad like the thrash bands that have popped up in the last couple of years? I still personally have mixed opinions about some of these new bands... |
don't really care
hasn't gotten popular enough to legitimately be a fad I don't think but that could change |
don't really care
hasn't gotten popular enough to legitimately be a fad I don't think but that could change
That's kind of my feelings too...I don't really see any of these bands getting on high profile tours like some of the newer thrash bands did...but at the same time there is A LOT of death metal bands popping up playing the old school style. |
It's sort of lame when a band is deliberately like "oh, we gotta keep it OLD SCHOOL" because it's bound to come out completely forced like they're afraid to step outside of a certain boundary.
|
most of the newer bands emulating the 'old school' style are pretty good
|
as much as i like a lot of this old school revival thing its kinda getting stale
|
bands like ribspreader are bleeeeehhhhh
|
yeah but ribspreader have been terrible for years, they suck outside of the new 'fad'
|
Well I guess I don't really know what the old school revival thing is then, what bands would you guys consider to be part of it? I would probably just call it death metal, I don't really see a need to call something old school revival because it doesn't sound like Behemoth or Job for a Cowboy.
|
yeah there are heaps of great bands to outweight the shitty ones
im certainly not going to complain |

i'm talking about all the incantation clones wouldn't they count as "osdm revival" |
they're death metal bands that sound like incantation
idc beyond that |
better old school revival than shitty BDM clones or something
|
yah pretty much
|
or mediocre melodic death metal with technical parts including breakdowns and some brees
|
see: BDM clones
|

Enjoying the new aborted ep.
me too, very good |
I personally consider meshuggah to be one of the best bands alive, seeing as they are one of the few bands that isn't trying to emulate someone else's work, but they influence tons of other bands. And Chaosphere and Nothing (the rerelease) are just amazing.
As far as listening to VoM, I do, and enjoy it. But they are nowhere near meshuggah. |
why are people talking about meshuggah in the death metal thread
|
didnt you hear craig pillard is their lead singer now
|
why are people talking about meshuggah in the death metal thread

hey all.....any other death metal fans in here? **** i listen to: Morbid Angel Nile Meshuggah Isis Malevolent Creation Nevermore Pain Of Salvation Cannibal Corpse Origin Exhumed
^^^ |
Meshuggah is much more thrash than death, really. but yeah, I mentioned it because it was in the first post on this thread.
|
what are the odds...
|
better old school revival than poopty BDM clones or something
I like both movements so ya. I guess I just like death metal more than you guys.~ |
I'm really liking the new Aborted... went and downloaded it. It's pretty sick. been listening to a lot of Skinless lately, too.
