Old Cryptopsy was great - their first three albums have some really cool stuff on them. But the new one is just garbage. I'd rather listen to other bands like Behemoth (who I love) than this crap.

Opeth's new album is rather decent too! I like it! I'm not such a fan of the clean vocals at times though.

kinda like i cant stand growling screaming etc but opeth is great.

The contrasts can be good at times though, between the death vocals and clean, and they do it in a way that isn't contrived or "gothic".

I prefer Cryptopsy to Nile, I think, if only because of [i]None So Vile[/i].

Meh, its a natrual progression. Power Metal was my gateway into Death and Black.

I can stand any type of vocals fine, even some bands where the vocalist sounds like he's being tortured (Anaal Nathrakh comes to mind). Now, whether I like the vocals or not is a different story. But, usually I like growls because it makes the music sound more aggressive, to me at least.

Of course, both kinds of vocals have their place.

I just finished reading through the second trade paperback of Preacher. God that is such an awesome series. Anyone else read it?
