How are Explosions In The Sky live?

Because I am seeing them in January.

big80smullet 10-27-2007 06:31 AM
I saw them open up for a day show during SXSW a few years back. They blew away the rest of the performances, completely. They have come a long way since then, and definitely deserve it.

I got the re-enter album, but I think it has a defect on the record, it always skips on me. Does anyone have this that they wouldn't mind sharing?
I don't have re-enter. i want it though. Is it a remix type album? ive not heard anything of it except re-enter (the song).

Edit: i found an EP with re-enter and upper ninety on it. I can link you if you want.

supposedly they are alot better live than on record. which isn't hard because their albums suck.

The Door Mouse 10-27-2007 01:22 PM

:( They're still one of my faves.
pirate ship quintet anyone?
I enjoyed the hell out of their EP at first, but I can't really listen to it any more. Got boring. :-/

Are there any new post-rock/ish bands that are recommendable? (Do not answer this question if you listen to a million post-rock bands)

I haven't been paying attention to anything that's come out lately besides Ghastly City Sleep... which is awesome, for any of you Gregor Samsa lovers.

yeah, thats what I have, the single, not a full album.

The only other thing of theirs I have is their demo cd, which is the only thing they had when I saw them. Pretty much the enter album with different recordings. That link would rock!

big80smullet 10-28-2007 05:25 AM

well heres where i got it from

hxxp://www.megaupload.com/?d=JM1HSQA5

just change the x's

Dr. Jake Destructo 10-28-2007 04:14 PM

Re-enter is okay..I was hoping for a shift in sound, but it's just an extension of what they were doing on Enter- Hence the name of the Ep I'm sure.

Shattered_Future 10-28-2007 07:01 PM

What is Re-Enter, as posed by somebody else? Is it new material, or changed material? If it's the latter, I'm not going to bother.

I'm listening to From The Sky now, who aren't that bad.

big80smullet 10-28-2007 07:03 PM

Its just a 2 song ep i beleive. with 1 new song and a reworked version of enter, hence re-enter

Shattered_Future 10-28-2007 07:04 PM

Meh, not worth my time.

big80smullet 10-28-2007 07:08 PM

Its only a small file. only took me 2 minutes to download, and they're pretty good songs. worth a listen.

I hope they release a new album soon.

I listened to GYBE last night and it put me to sleep

Angmar 10-28-2007 07:09 PM

I found F#A# kinda boring :-/ Are their other releases better?

big80smullet 10-28-2007 07:11 PM

Apparently so and from what ive heard of them yes.

Angmar 10-28-2007 07:12 PM

I think I'll get Lift Yr... some time.

Eliminator 10-28-2007 07:13 PM

get slow riot for new zero kanada

Angmar 10-28-2007 07:15 PM

K I think I will, it is shorter.

big80smullet 10-28-2007 07:17 PM

Thats the next one on my wishlist. Its so hard to get GYBE cds here i might have to download it

TheSadMafioso 10-29-2007 04:22 AM
get slow riot for new zero kanada
Quoted for truth.

Slow Riot is my favorite next to f#a#oo with Lift Your Skinny Fists not too far behind. All three of them are fantastic albums. Yanqui didn't sit well with me though, I can't quite place my finger on why.

On a side note, is anyone here a fan of Miasma and the Carousel of Headless Horses? They aren't really post-rock, but they are interesting. It's definitely a love or hate relationship with most people who listen.

big80smullet 10-29-2007 04:28 AM

Why is your writing blue?

TheSadMafioso 10-29-2007 04:37 AM
Why is your writing blue?
Want me to fix it?

big80smullet 10-29-2007 04:58 AM

Nah im just wondering why?

TheSadMafioso 10-29-2007 04:59 AM

I do it on every forum I've ever been on for the past 5 years. A bit of a habit I guess.

big80smullet 10-29-2007 05:10 AM

Hairy muff, fair enough

Kage 10-29-2007 11:18 AM

Miasma & Carousel is good.

big80smullet 10-29-2007 05:07 PM

I just got lift your skinny fists. Its way better than yanqui and a bit better than f#A#

RiceMonster 10-29-2007 05:09 PM

Yeah, it goes like this:

Lift Your Skinny Fists > Slow Riot > F#A# > Yanqui

big80smullet 10-29-2007 05:11 PM

What about tiny silver hammers? i heard that was quite good
