Haha maybe.

School's going great with holidays and all... :p
I'm doing a lot of study though. Mainly for my year 12 subject. That said, it doesn't mean I'm not partying xD. I'm getting back into my whole exercise obsession too.

Only thing I've got uploaded at the moment is that thing I wrote for the composition challenge thing back last summer if you're interested. Note the fact that I don't actually play piano and my "recording gear" (oh, that's so laughable) kept clipping on me.

What happened to those song-making things anyway?

Jo Shoe Wah 09-24-2006 04:37 PM

Hey that was awesome especially considering you don't play piano normally, all of my compositions are the beginnings of ideas that haven't really gotten too far haha. So i hope to finish some off these holidays.

Thats awesome you guys are on holidays i've only got two days of exams to go i can't wait.

Trigger_003 09-25-2006 09:43 PM

Thanks :).

I'm heading to the beach for a couple of days, catch you guys later .

Aus_rock_god 09-26-2006 01:06 AM
News flash: I'm board, and have no musically realted work until next weekend.
Dang, what are you gunna get up to?

And that's cool trea have fun, how far are you from the beach? I'm a five minute walk :p

Trigger_003 09-28-2006 06:44 PM

Grr, I'm 40min away at least. Which is great seeing I'm in love with surfing.

We went down to the Prom (it's the most southern point of Aust. - mainland anyway :p). It's awesome there but it's like a 4 hour drive or something.
Therefore, right side of trea is now more tanned than left side of trea.

It was hella windy though. Got some classic shots of me looking a bit like a messy-haired Cousin It because of that.

Aus_rock_god 09-28-2006 10:38 PM

I'm mostly MX ing. I should be visiting my kid soon, so that will kill one day of bordom.

Trigger_003 09-28-2006 11:21 PM

How are things with that, man? You going okay with it all?

Jo Shoe Wah 09-28-2006 11:28 PM

Haha awesome sounds like you had fun. The weather isn't so great up here today but it's been bloody hot the past few weeks. I just finished my last exam an hour ago and leave for Queensland tomorrow so i should be hitting the beach alot up there :D How was the surf?

And yeah hows things with your kid? How old is he/she?

Trigger_003 09-28-2006 11:40 PM

Gah, I want Queensland! Will ya still be MXing?

Surf was great :D. I shoulda taken my short but I took my mini mal for the fun of it. I'm teaching my dad (and the rest of my family actually) how to surf so it was better for that anyway. Funny stuff, I'm telling ya.

Random stories:
Yesterday I was in the city talking to some mates, and I was standing on this ascending rock wall that would've been less than a metre high off the footpath. This old guy rides by on his bike muttering something, staring at me, then suddenly yells out "DON'T JUMP! DON'T JUMP!!!" and keeps riding down the road.
"okay... I won't jump..."

While we were away, I also got told that it was "probably time to blow up my sleeping bag" (instead of air bed), and I called the dashboard the windowsill.
Don't ask me why.

Man I love it when exams are over. I hate it when holidays are almost over :(.
Enjoy it mate :chug:.

Jo Shoe Wah 09-28-2006 11:49 PM

 DONT JUMP....oh god.

I remember when i was learning to surf with my mates, it was hilarious. We all decided to start out the back and got haaaaaammmmered by wave after wave after wave, but i'm slightly better now :) Though i haven't been in aaaages it's always so cold or unpredictable up here.

I'm not sure if i'll be mxing or not, i don't think my dad has an internet connection though i'll probably come on at some point...that is when i'm not on the glorious beach just across the road :p

Yeah i'm sooo glad holidays are here, have you got one week left?

Trigger_003 09-29-2006 12:04 AM

Haha, nice. Trust me, it'll be colder down here :p.

I started on year 7 camp. We weren't allowed to go out back but I somehow managed to get up on my first wave, then my second, and my third, and one of the teachers who surfs was like "hey, you look like you've done this before, come out the back a bit with me."

Nah, I go back this monday. Stop rubbing it in :p. You going to surf while you're up there? What type of board(s) do you have?

Jo Shoe Wah 09-29-2006 12:20 AM

Hahaha, nah i don't have a board up there...or a guitar :( But i'll probably just bodysurf...its so easy in the water up there i seem to float alot easier  Saltier water? I wanna go scuba diving again too, i wen't last time i saw my dad out at lady musgrave island and it was sooooo cool :p

I have 2 boards a mini mal and a short fibreglass one which is a tad too small for me now...when i sit on it the whole board usually sinks about 5cm below water haha, and don't even get me started on some of the stacks ive had on that board  I started back in year 5 or 6..didn't go at all for about a year for some reason..then started with some friends again in year 8, and beginning of year 10 did surfing for school sport which was pretty cool.

That sucks that your holidays are almost up

Trigger_003 09-29-2006 12:31 AM

Aw, scuba'ing is awesome, I love it! Bodysurfing's alright as well. Meh! It's the beach, it's all good.

Meanwhile I'll be doing summaries. Hooray.

C'mon, you're not sad, unoit.

Haha, my mate's lent me all three seasons of Black Books. Mad hillarious.

Jo Shoe Wah 09-29-2006 12:37 AM

I'll say it's sad to think that in 2 weeks i'll be where you are except year 12 :amaze:

I've never seen any of Black Books what's it like?

Trigger_003 09-29-2006 12:47 AM

Yeah true.

It's a Brittish comedy so it rocks. There's this bookshop owner Bernard who's drunk and smoking all the time and hates customers. There's his assistant Manny who's really gentle, kind, and customer-aware, and their friend Fran who's also drunk and smoking all the time. I dunno, you can't really explain it, but there are things like Manny eating his breakfast or something out of a shoe with a comb...

See if you can find it around somewhere, it's classic. They play it on ABC every so often, so if I notice it's on, I'll let you know.

Jo Shoe Wah 09-29-2006 12:51 AM

Haha it sounds like the same line of humour as Faulty Towers, i love that show. Thanks i'll have a look around for it.

Trigger_003 09-29-2006 12:55 AM

Manwell!

I guess it's sorta like that, but funnier (zomg what a claim).

Jo Shoe Wah 09-29-2006 01:05 AM

I've definitely got to see it in that case :p John Cleese kills me. So does the rest of Python.

In other news i had a 2 day jam on wed/thurs which had some interuptions like bassist having an exam for wed morning and not being able to get here till 2:30...and rhythm guitarist couldn't make it on thurs, but overall i thought it was pretty mad, from what i've heard of the recordings (theyre on the bassists computer) the drums sound heeeeeeeeeaps better than usual....and believe me when i say we have shit mics :p

You jamming with any of your bands anytime soon, how many are you in again?

Trigger_003 09-29-2006 01:19 AM

As bad as mine? :p

Those jams are mad sweet. That was an overnighter thing, yeah?
We do these 50 hour music marathons every year as a fund raiser - between us we have to keep the music going for that long. Problem is, the MD who does that with our concert band is also MD with ayb, meaning I get two a year. So back in June or so it was 80 hours in two weeks .

I'm in 4. Tomorrow's AYB, should be doing concert band wednesday, possibly some stage band happening sometime soon, but I'm not sure about that, and Deprived of Sanity doesn't get together much these days... probably won't do anything much until summer.

Are you guys gigging at all or anything these days?

Jo Shoe Wah 09-29-2006 01:28 AM

The mic we used for the bass drum is definitely as bad as yours haha, and that's what i noticed the great difference in, for reference we got 10 of them off ebay.....for $2.95 O_o We used 2 others, one for guitars/bass guitar and one for overhead drums because we only have 3 inputs, and those 2 weren't so bad but still pretty awful compared to what's out there.

Nah we aren't gigging at the moment, we were supposed to be doing this charity thing in summer but i'm not sure whether it's going to happen or not.

The drummer stayed the night but other guitarist was busy on thurs so left, and the bassist went home and came back on thurs. 80 hours!!! wow

I'd imagine you get alot of practice/performance time with 4 bands going? How about you are you guys gigging?

Trigger_003 09-29-2006 01:46 AM

Haha, bargain!
Or rip-off. Maybe.

Gotta love inbuilt laptop mics though.

Mmm yeah, I came home and didn't realise I fell asleep the moment I sat down, mid-sentence. I wake up and my sister walks in the door. I was like "waaiiiiit, weren't you just standing in front of me?"
"That was a few hours ago Trea"

That sounds alright if it happens. I got invited to do a couple of solo acts next Sunday for a charity gig :). What's it for? Have you started thinking about a set yet or are you going to leave that until you know whether or not you're doing it?

Oh we definitely gig, haha. AYB mainly. We were meant to be playing around somewhere as part of the official grand final celebrations today but it didn't work out. There are a few christmas gigs we've got lined up, there's something for the Melbourne Cup, an open rehearsal (not that that really counts haha) we'll do something for Australia Day as usual (actually I think we're doing a country tour up around Swan Hill, Charlton and other places nobody's heard of), and some corporate gig. And the NZ tour next Sept, but that's ages away and I don't think I'll go because it's right near exams :(.

The other two are mostly smaller scale concerts and sessions every so often. We were doing a bit with D of S - just parties and school stuff most of the time, but yeah, definitely not at the moment.

Jo Shoe Wah 09-29-2006 02:49 AM

Haha i've come home from parties often and just fallen asleep while walking to my room landing on the couch, woke up a few hours later and i'm wondering what day it is hahah.

The charity gig is for a friend of my mums whose daughter has cystic fibrosis he was going to throw this thing to raise money for her but i haven't heard anything in a while. Nah we haven't decided on a set yet, hopefully if it happens we'll have some stuff finished and written by then and some new covers learnt well as the stuff we know well right now is starting to get a bit repetitive.

You sound awful busy, what do you play in each of those bands?

Trigger_003 09-29-2006 05:12 AM

I'm usually on such a high when I get home from parties that I manage to make it to my room, or at least fall asleep in the bathroom while brushing my teeth .

Alright cool. It'd be good if that works out for ya. Even the free gigs are awesome fun.

Trombone in all of them except for D of S which is guitar. It was crazy around March with the Games and stuff though. I think for about 2 months there we had 1 or 2 big or late gigs every week plus the rehearsals. Not that I was complaining of course :D.

Jo Shoe Wah 09-29-2006 06:27 AM

Awesome i can't wait to start gigging but i think we really need to just get tighter, write some original stuff and learn to work off each other better first..i think we're doing quite well though for how long we've been playing/how often we practice.

Aus_rock_god 09-29-2006 12:01 PM
How are things with that, man? You going okay with it all?
Getting there. I think her parents are still getting a shock that their daughter fell pregnant to a 20 year old rock musician.

With all hope I'll be moving to Melbourne sooner rather than later, I just have to make sure the clubs and pubs down there are will give me enough work, so I won't have to travel from Melbourne to Ballarat for anything but band sh!t.

Then there's Centerlink and all that jazz.

Trigger_003 09-30-2006 04:40 PM

Hope it all works out for you man. I'm sure there'll be work for you down here - there are enough gigs going on. Do you do anything else on the side as well?

Aus_rock_god 09-30-2006 11:38 PM

Not really, I stick to what I'm good at :thumb:

Trobatore 10-06-2006 05:39 AM

you guys could get music-located!

There's an interesting website out there that allows you - as a musician - to locate yourself in a map so that other musicians can contact you nearby to jam, complete a band, contract you, etc:

http://www.musiclocated.com

Give it a try!

Trigger_003 10-06-2006 11:54 PM

Fair enough bro.

So, Chris... sounds like you're having a lot of fun and love around the forums lately.

I know you didn't mean it :).

Late edit: so this morning one of our sax players was telling me about this guy playing a flute with a sax mouthpiece taped to the top... hehe, check it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5M_OWP5QP4Q
