Edit: What's wrong with Mr Petrucci though??! Please see this
My God, he looks like Wayne Static.

Can't wait to see DT, about 2 months now.

I wish they would play Space Dye Vest but it's just not going to happen, no matter how much I wish.

Darkness 08-26-2005 05:37 PM

I finally bought Awake today... pretty different from Train of Thought and 6 Degrees... but I heard this one takes time to grow on you.

3rdplanet 08-26-2005 05:39 PM

Awake was the first DT album I bought, took quite a while for it to grow on me.

Chu 08-26-2005 06:02 PM

Same, but I really love it now.

trev913 08-26-2005 06:09 PM
I have to agree, I would too.
I don't need it anyway :naughty:

Edit: What's wrong with Mr Petrucci though??! Please see this
Oh my gosh. My mum used to think he was the most awesome thing since sliced bread (with short hair, and the slight goatee), but now she thinks he's not attractive at all.

Anyway, I like Awake. It has my favorite Dream Theater songs ever on it, so I didn't have to let it grow on me.

(my favorite DT songs are Space-Dye Vest and Erotomania)

Darkness 08-26-2005 06:10 PM

I really like The Mirror and Lie.

Chu 08-26-2005 06:12 PM

Petrucci was awesome with long hair, and then for a small time after he got it cut he still looked decent. These days.. What the ****?! Mid Life crisis already

3rdplanet 08-26-2005 06:31 PM

There's one thing wrong with Awake, and that's (The?) Silent Man.

hallowed_ironmaiden 08-26-2005 07:30 PM

Yeah, but otherwise Awake is a good solid album

Lord of Sword 08-26-2005 07:37 PM

i don't mind the silent man too much. i do like the LSFNY version a lot more though, with that heavier part towards the end, except i'm not sure that version would fit as well in A Mind Beside Itself on the album.

I second that!

wtf I love that song, if anything it's Lifting shadows off a dream. I LOVE the acoustic guitar solo during Silent Man

Darkness 08-26-2005 08:01 PM

He's gone metal. Its the way it should be. :thumb:

trev913 08-26-2005 08:28 PM

I enjoy both versions of The Silent Man, but definitely the LSFNY version a lot more, thanks to the solos.

You guys are leaving all the awesome stuff on Train Of Thought... which disappoints me greatly.

hallowed_ironmaiden 08-26-2005 11:26 PM

Yeah, but I saw the Train of Thought tour, so if I saw them again, i would like to see some rarer stuff

Darkness 08-26-2005 11:27 PM

Oh ok, I understand then.

Reywas 08-27-2005 04:32 AM

Taken from DT faq

There are many special things about LSFNY:

- It marked Jordan's first live album with the band
- It's the first time the band has released "A Mind Beside Itself" in its entirity on a live album.
- It's the first time a version of the complete "A Change of Seasons" has been available on a live release.
- The show itself lasted well over 3 hours, after which MP passed out and was almost taken to hospital

Is this what you're refering to?

Reywas 08-27-2005 05:10 AM

I have the DVD and SFAM performance is amazing. And the supporting tracks are awesome.I mean you get Learning To Live, Metropolis Pt.1 and A Change Of Seasons.
+John Petrucci plays the Simpsons theme on A Change Of Seasons.

Well worth the money IMO.

Question:

Today I bought Scenes From A Memory II and am quite fond of it. I had a look on progarchives.com and I couldn't find a album entitled Scenes From a Memory. Is it under a different title? If so, could somebody post it for me? Thanks

(PS: Kindly do not tell me to RTFT. The ****ing thread is 106 pages long!)

Try Metropolis Pt.2

1One1 08-27-2005 07:12 AM

Sorry: I'm not to familiar with DT yet.

Do you mean that I'm looking for Metropolis Part 2 or the album I have is Metropolis Part 2? I'd look, but I kinda left it in my car. I'd get it, but at the moment it's a tender 3 degrees celsius and raining.
