Mikael himself insists that demon of the fall is the heaviest track opeth has ever recorded, and possibly some of their newer stuff he mentioned.

And to whoever said do the drapery falls, yes it is popular amongst fans. But it isn't necessarily a great track to showcase the band is it? it isn't very complex with it's guitar work, or drums and bass. There is no doubting that it is good, but it isn't a track to cover i don't think.

I think it's an excellent song to put up. It's easy to do well, and is somthing that would win a competition in my mind. But that's all opinion.

Songwriting wise, it's incredibly complex

I mentioned earlier that I wanted ask if any of you were interested in doing an opeth song for fun rather than competition and I chose "the drapery falls," just for that.

I'm in for any cover. I also just found out that I'll get to see Opeth in September too.

I've never heard any Opeth, can you guys recommend me some good songs if its not too much trouble?

The Drapery Falls, Windowpane, and Blackwater Park would be nice starting places. Oh and get Face of Melinda, just cuz I'm listening to that now. :)

Everything was pretty good. I can honestly say that I'm not a big fan of the vocals.

They'll grow on you, that is a promise.

I was thinking, Bleak would blow everyone out of the water. Anyone willing to give it a shot?

Unfortunely, I was unable to buy an adapter for my computer to record, but I did buy a new bass.

I'd like to do the vocals for bleak... but then again I still gatta get you guys a sample of me.. :)

I've been busting out Bleak, Drapery Falls and The Moor on it all afternoon.

The Iron Maiden thread has 2 songs over ten minutes. We must one up them!

So how many songs are you guys doing for this comp thing? I can't wait to hear them

I would love to but:

1) I can't find any good bass tabs
2) A singer will be harder to find
3) It'll take forever to learn
4) I'll screw up when recording. Over and over again.

I say if we nail The Moor and the Drapery Falls, noone will beat us.

I love the Moor, but I don't know if it will blow anyone away.

It blows me away every time I listen... but I guess its just me. It just shows everything that Opeth is good at, amazing clean/growled vocals, great lyrics, amazing acoustic sections and great heavy electric riffs and its longer then 10 min and it has an incredible song structure.

If we do more than one song, maybe The Moor should be in it, but if we just choose one, I don't think that should be it. Just me though, we need to see what everyone else thinks.

After all, no one cares what the bass player and singer think...

Where the heck is everyone else? The big thing would be finding guitar players that can do Mike and Peter justice...


Oh, and I'm not the singer yet... You guys have to aproove of the sample which I will be doing tomorrow. :thumb:
