Sph 01-17-2006 06:03 AM

You have no idea do you?

Jev 01-17-2006 10:12 AM

There are bands more deserving of that #1 spot than Metallica.

Sph 01-17-2006 10:33 AM

Exactly.

Blank 01-17-2006 11:04 AM

Yeah I love metallica but they'res lots of better bands.

Almost all of my favorite bands don't deserve that spot.

Kyle 01-17-2006 11:25 AM

There is no such thing as a best band ever.....

timmySmi 01-17-2006 11:44 AM
There is no such thing as a best band ever.....
Rage Against The Machine!

Mr. Black 01-17-2006 12:40 PM

But Master of Puppets isn't exactly great anyway.

Jev 01-17-2006 01:04 PM

It is the first time you hear it.

Mr. Black 01-17-2006 01:04 PM

Meh, RTL FTW!

Jev 01-17-2006 01:07 PM
Meh, RTL FTW!
True.
My band should cover that album from start to finish.

PepsiMetal 01-17-2006 01:23 PM
There is no such thing as a best band ever.....
Exactly.

There is no better deserving band even if green day is number one. Best lists are from personal preferences, so to say some band is more deserving is wrong. There's no point in someone putting opeth in number one place if he doesn't like their music. The only way to have a real number one album would be on how technical it is, which really wouldn't make much sense since that means nothing by itself. But if I was making that list, I'd definetely put RTL number 1. Best metal album probably for me. But really, Since that list had Maiden, metallica, and priest in top 10, then it's a pretty good list. Those 3 bands HAVE to be in top 10 of most metal listeners.

Mr. Black 01-17-2006 01:26 PM

That would be nice to hear, but 'Escape' is incredibly hard, and is played at an insane tempo.

Sarcasm?

Was it only five pages ago that I warned you guys about spam and one line posts? Seriously now. This is my second post in about a week now. My first was in the brand new Music Recommendation thread that's not even legal. Come on guys. PepsiMetal has the only respectable post on this page. This is not personal to anyone, I'm just sick of this.

Anyways,
My band should cover that album from start to finish.
My band should cover that album from start to finish also. If I could learn those solos we could probably do it. However, since the other guitarist doesn't like Metallica, we won't be doing it. I've been trying to get him to do Fade to Black since the rest of us want to but we haven't gone anywhere with it.

Blank 01-17-2006 02:50 PM

Joe do you play lead or rhythm? If you're lead than I would think you could sway his judgement.

And on the note of no best band ever,I agree completely.Every band is the best in someones opinion.

Good job :thumb:

I'm a mix of both. I write a ton of our songs but I do most of the lead work in the band. I've been trying to get him too, especially since the drummer and bassist want to do a Metallica song too. Fade to Black is the only Metallica song I can play perfectly (+/- a note or two).

And you're right. They are far from technically, but when it comes to best sounding you can't really beat RTL and MOP. My opinion, obviously.

Sph 01-17-2006 03:30 PM

I'm curious as to what your definition of spam is...
Most posts on this page are related to Metallica, I don't see a problem.

I'm not knockin' you or anything but aren't you being a little harsh?

*also tries not to spam*

Do you know any other solos?

BLS_Infernus 01-17-2006 03:50 PM

it isn't spam if it's about Metallica in a Metallica thread.

for me there greatest would be ...And Justice For All, then Master of Puppets, then Ride the Lightning.....

when we do covers I normally play lead and our stuff is a bit more tech. then Metallica but I always want to play the rhythm...there is just something I like about Metallica's rhythm sections.

A-S-S-H-A-T 01-17-2006 03:56 PM

I'm in no band at the time, but i can play MoP, Battery, Fade to Black, One, Sanitarium, Damage Inc, orion, and seek and destroy perfectly......

It toook me forever to learn the songs though because all i'd do is mess around with tallica songs every once in a while....

Hep Kat 01-17-2006 03:58 PM

Sup thread?

Sph 01-17-2006 03:59 PM

Mastor Of Puppets > Ride The Lightning > ...And Justice For All

IMO, of course.

BLS_Infernus: Exactly, we were talking about Metallica, so I don't see what's wrong.

Hep Kat 01-17-2006 04:03 PM
Mastor Of Puppets > Ride The Lightning > ...And Justice For All
That's my mindset only a little more like this:

Maste of Puppets >>>>>>> Ride The Lightning > ...And Justice For All

BLS_Infernus 01-17-2006 04:07 PM

my guess is the guy wants to get in good with the mod...I hope he knows that the rep feature is gone.

I don't know, ...And Justice For All has a special play in my heart. as does St. Anger. It's just a different album (St. Anger) that I really get. I feel that St. Anger was more for Metallica then the fans though

Hep Kat 01-17-2006 04:09 PM
my guess is the guy wants to get in good with the mod...I hope he knows that the rep feature is gone.
My guess is you're talking about me, and I have the following responses:

I could care less about getting in "good" with any mod.

Yes, rep is gone, but I could care less about it.

No, I just prefer MOP to everything else Metallica has done. Not that their other work isn't bitchin' that's just my mindset.

BLS_Infernus 01-17-2006 04:22 PM

I'm talking about Joe.

Orion is probalbely their best instrumental. If you ever feel like having funny try to play Battery only down picking. I don't know how James does it. I guess learning to do Battery that way really helped my playing

Hep Kat 01-17-2006 04:25 PM
I'm talking about Joe.
Well then I stand corrected.

Sph 01-17-2006 04:26 PM

I think Call Of The Ktulu is their best instrumental. It flows really well.

And... you down pick Battery?!

Edit: To BLS.

Hep Kat 01-17-2006 04:32 PM
Orion is probalbely their best instrumental. If you ever feel like having funny try to play Battery only down picking. I don't know how James does it. I guess learning to do Battery that way really helped my playing
My friend does that. In fact, he picks all their songs incorrectly.

Joe 01-17-2006 04:34 PM

Not necessarily. And In my opinion it's RTL > MOP > AJFA

For all of you that really think you're trying to make me feel bad or anything, I'm pretty aware that the rep feature is gone. I'm also not trying to make it good with the mods because I don't care that much. My definition of spam is a little tiny post that doesn't really move the thread. I won't point out any specifics because then all of you will get on my case saying how its not spam when it really is. Spam is what gets threads closed and thats what I'm trying to keep from happening. Mods don't normally care if the thread is about the title if its totally spam. I'm really not bangin on all of you at all, in fact the posts between this and my last one were generally pretty good. Whatever
You can ask chu, he used to yell at me when I did one word posts ~p.600

On a better note, you can down pick Battery? That's impressive.
Do you know any other solos?
Was that too me? Yea, I know plenty of them. None of which I can play as perfect or flawless or clear.
My friend does that. In fact, he picks all their songs incorrectly.
That's pretty hillarious.

YOU TOO?!

Ok I'm going to not worry about it anymore. Just to everyone before you one word comment think of a little something else to add (and yes you all can yell at me if I do it.)

NP: Fade to Black. Why is this song so amazing? I'm so upset because the video I have of it is really weird and iTunes won't let it go on my iPod because it's "MPEG Muxed" or something like that.

Chu 01-17-2006 04:46 PM

I got the ...AJFA and RTL Tab books, so I've been learning RTL pretty much non-stop, greatest album ever++;

iPod + Video thing right? (I'm going to give you benefit of doubt and just say yeah it is...), well a mate of mine recently got one of those, and was saying something about you having to convert the video clip or something, meh, I dunno :p

Joe 01-17-2006 04:47 PM
I got the ...AJFA and RTL Tab books, so I've been learning RTL pretty much non-stop, greatest album ever++;
That's pretty cool. I remember we were talking about New Years resolutions and that was one of the things I was going to do, learn RTL, MOP, and AJFA all the way through.

BLS_Infernus 01-17-2006 05:09 PM

yeah I can down pick Battery...it took me forever to get that down. that's why I laugh when people are like "OMG look at John Petriucci the shredder" I'm like "That's not so impressive...he alt. picks which makes it easier to play faster...sure he has a mount more theory knowledge then me but I would be more impressed if he down picked."

try to get Battery down by down picking...it will make you such a better musician and it will help you with your time sig.

BassMasterMike88 01-17-2006 06:25 PM

Same goes with bass, learning to finger pick that bass part has made learning other ahead of the beat bass lines like Master of the Puppets and other Iron Maiden stuff.

BLS_Infernus 01-17-2006 06:30 PM

yeah I'm trying to learn finger picking as well...it's kind of a bitch but I'm getting it down slowly

NP: Harvester of Sorrow

ahhhhhhh I can't wait for the new album...they need to hurry
