I listened to a little of Tommy today, but it's a time commitment to listen to the whole thing. I like when I have a lot of free time and I can just sit back and enjoy it.

MalcolmYoungRock 06-17-2005 07:24 PM

Tommy's a brilliant album.
Or Mississippi Queen.
It would be cool to do a Mountain song. "Never In My Life" or "Mississippi Queen" would be sweet.

AHEM, new cd update:

The Doors - Strange Days
Buddy Guy - Alone and Acoustic
Tenacious D - s/t

I also picked up the 2004 Bonnaroo Festival DVD. :D

ATM, you might wanna check out this Buddy Guy cd, I can upload later if you want.

robo2448 06-17-2005 07:38 PM

That Buddy Guy CD is good, somebody uploaded it in Other Music. Strange Days is my favorite Doors cd, along with LA Woman.

It's good psychadelic rock, When the Music's Over pwns all.

Woodstock 06-17-2005 07:40 PM

I bought the Crossroads Guitar Festival for my Dad for Father's Day. I also partially bought it for myself. From what I've seen on PBS, it's awesome.

BassMasterMike88 06-17-2005 07:40 PM

Isn't Buddy Guy doing some shows around the country this summer? I forgot who he was touring though if he is though.

robo2448 06-17-2005 07:43 PM

I've gotten my parents a ton of cd's that I actually want as presents because they like a lot of the same music. I've started feeling a little guilty about it now though and I'm probably going to get my dad something else for father's day.

magicbus 06-17-2005 07:57 PM

Yea Buddy Guy is touring, I'm going to see him.

And the Crossroads DVD is awesome.

Well.....I've decided to make a return! Not really.......I was just joking about leaving. I mean this place produces way to much fun to just leave like that. I'm just ULTRA grounded for the summer because my mom found out that I do a thing called "dRugS" and now she has grounded my computer for the summer. (or until she forgets about it) Sorry for the confusion.

So anyway......Syd Barrett is pretty awsome.
Yeah from what i heard, he got pretty pissed when some reporters approached him and tried to ask Neil about it...
If any of you had seen Greendale you would realize how ironic this is

EDIT: Avatar change for emphasis.

robo2448 06-18-2005 08:59 AM

Welcome back Schyma :). That sucks that you got grounded.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 06-18-2005 09:08 AM

Thank You. :)

It's Greendale by Neil Young I think.

That it is, the album cover

I really don't see your mom's logic for banning you from the computer for using drugs. I mean, shouldn't she ban you from using drugs if she wants you to stop? How does the computer promote drug use? She should ban you from listening to psycheldelic music instead

robo2448 06-18-2005 09:36 AM

Yea it's definitely Greendale. Is that good?

The only thing I can do is watch TV. (I'm not suppose to be on the computer right now) Can't go outside and I've got no bud so she basicly did take away my "drugs". If only there was a cow feild next to me. :upset:

She wouldn't take away my music. :p (or at least I hope not)
Yea it's definitely Greendale. Is that good?
I liked it. It is a concept album that tells the story of the Green family, in a fictional California smalltown called "Greendale". The album makes no sense at all, however, if you don't see the show/DVD. The DVD is the album played all the way through as the soundtrack for a film that basically illustrates the album. It is a bit a of a protest piece, reflecting on the 60's with Vietnam and the Bush Administration now. Corruption in the media also plays a huge part, which is why I thought it was funny that Neil got mad at the reporters

I'll explain:
The Grandson, Jed Green, kills a cop. The town is all aflutter and helicopters and crap start landing in the Grandfather's yard, It would be more informative just to post the lyrics I'd think:

thickasabrick 06-18-2005 10:06 AM

Well as long as you can still post when you get the chance Schyma. My parents are getting real angry at me now, basically for no reason. This morning they asked me what I did last night, and I told them what I did....and my dad's like "it's always an excuse with you Jeff." I don't understand why they think I'm making excuses, I don't have a reason for an excuse, I was telling them the truth. They are kinda messed up parents.

Is it true Paul McCartney is turning 63 sometime soon? If that's true, I'm excited for when he turns 64. There's gotta be some sort of celebration going on worldwide.

Walrus Gumboot 06-18-2005 10:07 AM

TV crews and cameras,
they wanted to interview grandpa on the porch.
They came through the gate and across the lawn
knocking down Edith's Tiki Torch.
And grandpa saw them there,
looking through the venetian blind.
"Those people don't have any respect,
so they won't get any of mine."

"I don't wanna talk about Jed.
I don't watch channel 2 or 6 or 9.
I don't have time to talk that fast,
and it ain't my crime."

"It ain't a privilege to be on TV
and it ain't a duty either.
The only good thing about TV
is shows like 'Leave it to Beaver.'"

"'Shows with love and affection',
like mama used to say.
A little Mayberry living
could go a long way."

He took Earl's shotgun down from the closet,
loaded up both barrels.
Walked out on the porch and fired 'm off,
and up walked a woman named Carol.

"Susan Carol from Early Magazine,
I got some questions to ask."
"Well you can stick 'm where the sun don't shine!"
grandpa said with a gasp.

Then he fell face first and let out a sigh,
and Edith ran out in shock.
He was looking at her from down on the floor,
Grandpa looked like he was trying to talk.

"That guy just keeps singin'!
Can somebody shut him up?
I don't know for the life of me
where he comes up with that stuff."

They laid his head on a newspaper
with a picture of Carmichael on the front page,
posing with the little league baseball team,
and a seedy shot of Jed on a motorcycle.

Grandpa died a hero.
Trying to stop the media.
Fighting for freedom of silence.
Trying to be anonymous.

The comment in bold is the grandfather complaining about Neil, but it is Neil who sings it

Edith and Earl are Jed's parents, and they live with the Grandpa
Carmichael was the cop Jed killed

EDIT: To bring my point back, this is probably what the scene was like when the reporters came to interview Neil about his father's death. I can see where he's comming from
The music itself is with Crazy Horse and it is heavy grungy stuff, nothing like Harvest Moon. I love it.
