btw I saw deftones last week. They fucking RULED!
Did they play new material, like 'Beware The Water'? Im waiting for other UK dates other than Download to get announced |
I thought the monkey lines were using the 'monkey see monkey do' line and 'monkey see now evil, hear no evil speak no evil' thing too. But i didn't look into the lyrics. I just thought that might be what the song was about. Kinda the same idea but not using the same sayings...
|
i dont see how that relates to war at alll
and arent you the one who thought stinkfist was about masturbation  |
Not just war but viewing humans as smaller beings...eg we look down on monkeys angles look down on humans. It's not something i have looked into but it crossed my mind while i was listening.
And no i didn't think stinkfist was about wanking :-/ Well atleast i dont think i did... |
well, thats part of the reason i dont like "reading" into TOoL lyrics. I couldnt care less what someone else gets out of them, and i dont expect them to care what i get out of them

Holy ****, I just found out Tool will be playing a show here:
http://www.hummingbirdcentre.com/pics/theatre.jpg It's the Hummingbird Centre in Toronto, and has AMAZING sound. It's strictly seats (3200), so tickets are going to sell out extremely fast. I reaaaallllllly hope I can pick a few up. Hopefully I don't end up getting tickets beside a gothapottamus (ie, http://myspace-607.vo.llnwd.net/00126/70/61/126801607_l.jpg) |
You dirty pirates..!
^^^ The pot calling the kettle black here.. I've resisted all the links simply because I need the satisfaction of holding the album, and having a field say ripping it open and listening to it as a whole.. *shrugs* I need to have respect for the band. I can understand if you're poor. I can understand if the CD isn't going to reach your country. I can even understand if you don't really like Tool all that much (hell, with any other band I would care all too much). I was introduced to Tool through a burnt CD, so there is some good that comes of pirating.. But Tool is my favorite band, and I have to have the experience of going to the store early in the morning, and picking it up.. I think the single was enough to hold me off until May 2nd.. So far you guys are getting me hyped out the album, though..! I can't wait for this to hit stores. I have my copy reserved already.. |
I'm getting the CD for my birthday in July.
I just don't have any money now and need to scrounge money from my parents to get to london for concerts soon. I would be supporting tool at a concert if they weren't so retarded in their choice of date :downs: |

I dont want me going to pick up the CD as a chore to make sure I legally own it, I want that to be the first new Tool experience I have (well, whole album anyway). I understand those who cant wait, I used to lack willpower too, age helps with that though. But to me (bear with the example), it's like searching for, finding and opening your christmas/birthday presents before the day itself. Apart from your family wont be angry/dissapointed at you for doing so (unless you have a really cool family who are also awaiting new Tool) And i asked my local CD store if they would be open on release date. In their typical unorganised fashion, they hadnt got a clue, but I was yet another person who had asked them that day :) |
I've tried downloading the new album twice now and it won't work for some reason. It just cuts off after like an hour. It's lookin' like I might just have to wait until May 2nd to hear it. :(
|
This wasn't about willpower for me in the slightest, because I saw no reason not to d/l the album. I enjoyed it immensely on my first listen, moreso than I would back at Uni when it's released.
When I go pick the album up it won't be a chore either, I can't wait to get my hands on the artwork and stuff. |

They played one new track. That might be it... its gonna be on their upcoming album. They played almost all my fav tracks though! feiticietra...rara? my own summer-shove it be quiet and drive hexagram around the fur headup knife party change root bored 7words/ another song (can't remember) 7 words disturbed me because they stopped playing right at the "Squeal like a pig" part. Amazing concert Anyway back to tool... gotta love tool |

Age does teach you alot of things, and one of them is that instant gratification isn't all it's up to be.. Now, this isn't targeted at anyone, but seeing all the downloading has kind of disappointed me in some people. Tool had gone through great lengths to keep the album from leaking, and the moment the opportunity presents itself it seems all that work is done for nothing.. Then again, we live in a world where MTV is staple. American Idol is in every home. Reality TV is better than sex. God can be purchased with a little scarifice of self. Knowledge is teased to the unfortunate, and played with the fortunate. War is raged over oil, money, self-importance, and ignorance. Sarcasm is another branch of our language. Ignorance is bliss. And we'd rather eat a hamburger now, and gladly pay you tomorrow.. S h i t, I don't mean to rant, and I don't want to be an *** or anything...but I have noticed something just now. It may just be a personal revelation, and I may be completely bitched at after this post, but I can't help but to mention it.. I can't complain much though, because I'm a product of my own enviorment, too. I'm no different than anyone else here. Though, something comes to mind, and I think it has to do with the Jungian Theory (obvious choice, but this makes sense). To truly understand the ultimate self, then you have to accept the dark and light half of yourself.. "I wanna feel the change consume me, feel the outside turning in. I wanna feel the metamorphosis and cleansing I've endured within my shadow. Change is coming. Now is my time. Listen to my muscle memory. Contemplate what I've been clinging to. Forty-six and two ahead of me. I choose to live and to grow, take and give and to move, learn and love and to cry, kill and die and to be paranoid and to lie, hate and fear and to do what it takes to move through. I choose to live and to lie, kill and give and to die, learn and love and to do what it takes to step through. See my shadow changing, stretching up and over me soften this old armor. hoping I can clear the way by stepping through my shadow, coming out the other side. Step into the shadow. Forty six and two are just ahead of me." ~Tool "46+2" |
My god the hummingbird center only seats 3200?
FUCK I have no chance I'm very depressed at the moment |
Like I say, none of this was even a factor to me. ^
I'm always in an especially creative time while i'm on break, and I've been writing songs lately, all this new Tool is helping the process and i've written a few new riffs and pretty much completed a song with help from it. From my opinion, so long as I pay for the album I've done nothing morally wrong. Not to mention I didn't want the expectations to keep building (with everyone saying the albums great, or not so), then when I got the album be disappointed or something. Tool is a band. I download music all the time. I love music, I love Tool. Simple. |
The way I look at the downloading thing...
Now that the album is leaked, me not downloading it won't have an effect on anything. Tool will not be happier because I didn't download it. The only good that will come out of it is me knowing that if tool did know that I waited, they would be happy (well probably wouldn't care either way). It's not like they have a list of how many people downloaded it and who didn't. If I was helping tool in anyway possible by not dling it, I wouldn't dl it. |

So is anyone getting 10,000 days from the daily upl0ad?
|
So these really are the real songs right? I was reading other sites and some people said its not real or its a decoy blablabla.
|
There are some crazy rumours about.
Why would i get it from the daily upload. I've already listened to it 6 times... |

Well maybe others havent heard it 6 times or even once. I havent heard it yet. |
6 times? Weren't you whining on about how shit it was?
If I found it bad first listen, I would continue to listen until I liked, especially since everyone else seems to find it great The exact thing happened with me back with OK Computer |
I'm on my 6th timeish now. I'm growing to really enjoy it, there is no chance in hell that is a decoy.
After this listen I'm gonna put something else on so I don't wear it out. (I think it would take even longer to wear this album out than it would to wear out Lateralus, to be honest). Edit: Actually, I was the same with OK Computer, man, I loved The Bends and a couple of songs from Pablo Honey, and OK Computer just seemed so odd I didn't dig it at first; now it's one of my favourite albums ever. |
I suppose i was just in a really bad mood last night when i first tried to listen.
Plus it's such a diverse album it's difficult to absorb 1st time. Now i know whats going on and it's more enjoyable. Still not tool at their best though imo. |
I honestly think if everyone was only allowed 1 listen to OK Computer, it would be far from the alleged best album of our time. And from what Rob and others are saying, this could be in the same vein
|
It is, quite possibly. I can't rate this album up against Tool's others yet. It's.. possible I'll like it more than the others. It's possible it'll fall slightly short, either way, it's quality.
Edit: I'll tell you guys how I feel when I've listened to the album 40 odd times in a months time or so. |
Does anyone understand the bit with the doctors talking to some kid at the end of Lost Keys?
|
nevermind, he explains everything in the next song.
|
I'm digging this album more and more with each listen. The idea of it being a decoy is just absolutely ridiculous. There's no way.
