So have you all seen that acoustic set where it's just James and his guitar?
is that true? |
Same in my school. My band and I are almost the only ones in our grade that like metal. Everybody knows Metallica, but the only song they know is master of puppets and they dont like it cuz its too long. Kinda pisses me off:angry:
You mean in your school people actually know that Metallica actually made another album besides The Black Album? Damn. In my school they only know Enter Sandman. Thats it. Maybe Wherever I May Roam or Sad But True, but that's it.
When I went to high school in georgia, well most people liked rap obviously, it was a black school. When I went to high school here in St. Louis, people kinda liked tallica, but usually their popular radio songs. It was mostly green day and other pop punk stuff too though. Metallica aren't known as much as they are said to be known in real life. Online though, there are 1.54 trillion metallica fans.
I've noticed that they aren't as known as they are said to be. No one in my high school knows them. However, my brother who was in high school from like 1995 - 1999 says that the majority was into Metallica and other metal bands. |
aah, those good old days... unfortunately back in 95 I was small and didnt even know what metallica was.
|
My uncle liked metallica when I was 5.I became a fan when i was like 10 or 11. Me and my guitarist friend played orion today  It was awesome minus the bass solo :-\ |
No, where?
Yea I think it was sometime around 99 I remember reading about it a long time ago. and thinking it was stupid. Now Im searching all over the place for it. So far I've found this http://www.youtube.com/w/Metallica-Mama-Said-Live-%28Acoustic%29?v=Y3dpEJajQ4Y&search=Metallica I'm not sure if this one is from the same gig but it's cool too http://media.putfile.com/12_The_Four_Horsemen |
My uncle liked Kiss and AC/DC when I was five. And if Metallica played an acoustic set what songs could they play?(aside from nothing else matters and fade to black)
|
So have you all seen that acoustic set where it's just James and his guitar?
Wasn't that like a tribute to some guy, James recorded the songs himself. |
My uncle liked Kiss and AC/DC when I was five. And if Metallica played an acoustic set what songs could they play?(aside from nothing else matters and fade to black)
They can play alot of stuff acoustic. As a matter of fact almost all the Metallica I play now I play on my acoustic and it sounds awsome! It might have been a tribute, The book I read that in I don't have at the moment but when I get it back I shall do some more research |
very few people at my school know who Metallica is and the few who do are just a few white people that have only heard St. Anger
|
I miss the 90's.metal was morein the mainstream then. now i can't talk about a metal band like metallica without people looking at me and goin "wat the **** is metallica?".My parent's wedding song was nothing else matters:cool:
|
I didn't know Metallica was actually on the studio, i thought they were like only writting some stuff, but not actually recording some stuff.
Also Metallica will headline the South Africa concerts, and not co- headline like it said on Encymet. The tribute iwas talking it was this: http://www.metallica.com/Media/Misc/misc.asp?misc_id=14 But it was on 2003, so i don't think it was the set you where looking for. |
Nope that's not what I was looking for. But that's cool! anyone own that album?
|
You guys act like Metallica is undetground or something.
They're actually a REALLY popular band.Even the kids who don't listen to rock have heard of metallica. Meh maybe it's just different in your areas. |
You guys act like Metallica is undetground or something.
they started as a underground band in San Diego
Um... What? Metallica were from the LA area of California. |
I thought they started in San Fran?
|
I thought they started in San Fran?
No, they moved to San Fran in order to get Cliff to join. |
I meant San Fran...I just used my ninja skill to edit that post.
I don't remember were they started before Ron was booted for Cliff but they got success in San Fran |
firstly they started in the bay area of san fran
they went to L.A to perform but it wasent treating them well so when cliff said i will only join if u move to san fran and they were glad to move |
Hey just found this awsome clip of cliff in his first band, its in '74 but the start of clip says '84, theve fu'kd up, anyway you can clearly see that its cliff by his style and at the end theres a little interview....also when it hits the 10 minute mark cliff starts playing the for whom the bell tolls intro.. very interesting....... definetly worth watching
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8600360414571121543&q=metallica .............keep headbangin |
i have a boss me-50 and im tring to dial in a metallica tone. anybody in here that can help me out, since theres so many distortions and variations on this pedal
|
Many people have heard metallica as a band name, but not actually their music. That's at least how it was in georgia. lol. It was all lil jon and crunk rap down there.
|
it's kind of surprising how much Metallica has very little to do with MTV and all that pop TV/radio crap that feeds all that "you must buy this" crap that Metallica is the number 1 selling band to date. sure Elivis has sold the most and a few other artist have sold more then Metallica but they are the #1 most selling band ever and you hardly hear anything about them
|
AFAIK beatles have sold ALOT more than metallica.
|
ok maybe in the top 5 then...they have sold an *** load of records though
|
ok maybe in the top 5 then...they have sold an *** load of records though
Try like top 50... top five haha thats just a dumb claim. |
How do you hardly hear about Metallica?
Please. |
it could be my area but the only time I ever hear bout Metallica is if I look for it on the internet.
ok so maybe in the top 50 but again they have sold an *** load of records |
Any time you hear metal bands you always hear of Metallica, you saying you never hear about them is like me saying the Beatles don't get enough credit....
 Seriously stop ejaculating all over Metallica they get all the credit they deserve, they are a great band but some of the claims people make in here are just retarded. This is almost as bad as the ACDC thread, in terms of ignorance. |
Do you like in Australia or somewhere else?
|
I live in Redmond, Washington...all you ever hear about is Kurt Cobain and Death Cab for Cutie
|
Try like top 50... top five haha thats just a dumb claim.
more like the top 10 they have the num1 metal album sold over 100 million albums have some of the greatest music of all time |
more like the top 10
they have the num1 metal album sold over 100 million albums have some of the greatest music of all time
No top 50... they haven't sold over 100 million |
No top 50... they haven't sold over 100 million
or was it 95.... well IMO top 10 |
it was 95 on the Some Kind of Monster movie when the guy said it in the time of 2003...they are over the 100 million mark
|
They're the 7th highest selling Entertainment act in America.
|
Phallus Dei just got ownd
|
No top 50... they haven't sold over 100 million
They sold over 90 million records when SKOM came out. St. Anger probably sold quite a bit. So it is probably over 100. |
