I like it :)
You need one that's square shaped.
Yeah, that's probably it, but I'll stick with this for a little bit.

robo2448 06-15-2005 07:14 PM

Does anyone have Concert for Bangladesh or Concert for George? If so, which one's better? I'm thinking of buying one of them but they're both really expensive, Concert for George is like $26 and Concert for Bangladash is like $31. Which one should I buy?

They play Concert for George on public television alot. It's good, but the other one is probably less likley to find for free

robo2448 06-15-2005 07:28 PM

cool, the Bangladesh thing sounds more interesting anyway.
So what tv stations play music performances and stuff. I've never really looked for music stuff on tv before. Obviously MTV doesn't have anything but which stations show good performances like that and the McCartney thing everyone was talking about last night?

lunch998 06-15-2005 07:32 PM

I think my dad was at the Bangladesh Concert.

robo2448 06-15-2005 07:35 PM

I'm assuming it was India. That would be pretty cool to see a concert like that in India.

lunch998 06-15-2005 07:40 PM

It was at Madison Square Garden, I believe. The concert was to raise money for people in Bangladesh.

robo2448 06-15-2005 07:43 PM

I kind of assumed it was from Bangladash because of the title, but I've heard it called the first real "Live Aid" type concert, so that makes sense. It's cool George cared about stuff like that enough to recruit all those musicians and organize a concert like that. George was cool.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 06-15-2005 08:24 PM

Very cool and a very cool concert aswell.

I'm afraid 30 of my favorite CD's (and a hooka) will never return to me. :upset:

robo2448 06-15-2005 08:31 PM

What happened to them?

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 06-15-2005 08:40 PM

One of my best friends hates me now because me and 3 other friends broke into his house while he was on vacation. Now we're all grounded for the summer because his mom called all our moms and told them how we did stuff that we really didn't do. He has my favorite CD case (and my hooka) and if he fucks them up I'll fuck him up.

Did I mention I lost 4th row Paul McCartney tickits!?!?!?

Edit: Nice reveiw Lunch. Would you happen to have The Family That Plays Together aswell?

Thats what I inferred. John didn't have a good looking women, then I remembered Cynthia, who wasn't *too* bad. But the other Beatles had him owned in terms of trophies.

You know what band I never hear being talked about in this thred? Can. What does everyone think of the great Tago Mago?

Badmoon 06-15-2005 09:46 PM

I've heard it and thought it was okay; definitely felt it was overhyped by a lot of the Alt & Indie guys.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 06-15-2005 10:13 PM

I do think it's slightly overhyped but it's quality music none the less.

Hey, remember, Ringo got a Bond girl as his wife. That's getting lucky.

np: James Taylor - You've Got A Friend

Illmatic 06-15-2005 10:21 PM

Well, Ringo was the Lovable Screwup. No matter what he did, you liked him, because "c'mon, he's Ringo!"

The Bond girl found that endearing in a man (that his heart was in the right place, but gosh darn it he just wasn't that smart); I think Ernest got a lot of tail because of that.

If you're still interested, here's a concert from '66, a year before their first album was released.

You know it's weird...I was just listening to Sitting on Top of the World when I read Badmoons quoted post. Grateful Dead version. I've never heard the Cream version.

There are actually compilations you can buy that feature some of the Dead's material back from The Warlock days or at least stuff from early on in their career. Ex. Birth of the Dead

Canadian Guy, nice avatar; I'm wearing my Steal Your Face shirt right now.
I've never heard the Cream version.
It's okay, but I definitely prefer the song in a Bluegrass form.

Here's an album from Os Muntanis (a great Brazilian Psychedelic Band). If you're intrested in psychedelia at all you'll enjoy this.

God i love Pink Floyd, i really don't see how people can find them boring to listen to, the Harmony in songs like Wish are entertaining in its on way.

That's awesome

Nice list Badmoon, I've got 7 of them :thumb:. I just went on RYM to do a list like that, but decided it would take too long.

Come on, it was the nose.

robo2448 06-16-2005 12:39 PM

The Bruce compilation is great, that's what got me into him. His new album is excellent is great if you like his ballads like Secret Garden or Blood Brothers. Darkness on the Edge of Town is his best IMO, but Born to Run is great too, the first two songs on the compilation are on Born to Run.

And on Pink Floyd, I'm going to Live 8. So I'm seeing them there. I'm sure at least some of you know that as I mentioned in other threads around these parts, but I thought I'd share anyway.
I still can't believe you won tickets. That's just incredible. Have fun.

Changing daily until I find one I like.

White_heat 06-16-2005 12:47 PM
Loaded's a really interesting album...pretty easy to get into, especially compared to a lot of other stuff that The Velvet Underground did, but undeniably excellent at the same time. Even though it's far less of a "Lou Reed" album than stuff like White Light/White Heat, which in my experience you either love or you hate. The others are good as well, especially the Springsteen one. The Boss is someone who is criminally underappreciated around here.
Yeah I only got loaded to complete my VU collection(except for squeeze) , i think its too conventional for VU
