that's my favorite album but I like the vocals after the black album

Rob's bass solo:

http://youtube.com/w/Metallica-Rob-Trujillo-Bass-SOLO?v=PiiQgkCBQ6U&search=Metallica
That sounded pretty cool. Definetely loved Cliff's bass wankage more though. Can't wait for the next tallica album, especially to hear what they've done with bass. In that metallica vid that was posted during holidays, they said like Rob is a great bassist, so he probably made some nice stuff. :naughty:

White 01-14-2006 10:47 PM

Ya, I just borrowed "And justice for All" from my friend and I got it all ploaded on my Ipod, I did have all metallica albums, but I accidentally deleted them all lol. so Im slowly Rebuilding

I lost my MoP :(

Well lost the cd case the the cd was in...

Joe 01-14-2006 10:52 PM

Sonata Arctica is on a tribute album. Best Fade to Black cover, period. (I covered fade to black. its in the R&M competition thread if anyone would care to listen)

I'd say ...AJFA is my third favorite. I like RTL the best then MOP

Rob's got a little bit of a solo in the video of FWTBT on the metallica.com site from the SF shows.

And welcomes to Bartdude and kevinpeltier

BartDude 01-14-2006 11:14 PM

Yeah there is one video on metallica.com of Rob doing a bass doodle. He does a lot of the string slap thing... whatever it's called.

AJFA Is my first favorite. then RTL then MOP. Other than The Shortest Straw, Justice is a great album. I also love the sound on the album. Not the non-audible bass sound, but just the sound of the guitars and drums. Vocals arent that bad either.

Stormrider 01-14-2006 11:17 PM

I love the Shortest Straw...The weakest song of the album IMO is Eye of the Beholder.

Bazarov 01-14-2006 11:22 PM

I actually don't think there is any weak songs on AJFA. Eye of the Beholder has some of the best lyrics of all Metallica as well. But I'm such an AJFA fanboy so yeah.

heavy metal kid 01-14-2006 11:27 PM
I love the Shortest Straw...The weakest song of the album IMO is Eye of the Beholder.
I think the weakest is The Frayed Ends of Sanity, EOTB has the best lyrics and it is one of the songs with audible bass on the album.

Stormrider 01-14-2006 11:27 PM

Im not saying its bad, it just doesnt live up to the other ones IMO. Like i siad before, that album has an awsome rythm tone.
I think the weakest is The Frayed Ends of Sanity, EOTB has the best lyrics and it is one of the songs with audible bass on the album.
I like Frayed ends of sanity. More then Eye of the beholder...

BartDude 01-14-2006 11:42 PM
I love the Shortest Straw...The weakest song of the album IMO is Eye of the Beholder.
That one riff that starts like 1:30 into the Shortest Straw annoys the hell out of me. That's probably why i never listen to the song.

But as far as the weakest it's either Dyers Eve or Shortest Star IMO.

Stormrider 01-14-2006 11:45 PM

Dyers Eve is awsome. One of my favs of the album. Were not getting along that well :p

My bro was one of them lucky ppl to see that song played live.

BartDude 01-15-2006 12:00 AM
Dyers Eve is awsome. One of my favs of the album. Were not getting along that well :p

Hahaha I have nothing against Dyers Eve, it's just compared to the others its not one of my favorites. It's a pretty instense song. I almost died trying to play it on the drums.

BLS_Infernus 01-15-2006 12:00 AM

I've seen Dyers Eve 4 times live out of the many times I've gone to a 'tallica show.

to date my favorite live song would be Some Kind of Monster...the live version I saw (seen SKoM a few times live) Kirk added a killer solo to but I've only seen that version once

Stormrider 01-15-2006 12:10 AM
Hahaha I have nothing against Dyers Eve, it's just compared to the others its not one of my favorites. It's a pretty instense song. I almost died trying to play it on the drums.
Hehe, my favorite song of the album right now is probably AJFA. When the verse kicks in with the vocals...its just awsome.

And yeash, Dyers Eve is a pretty fast song. Ive looked at the tabs, but havent actualy tried to learn it.

Jev 01-15-2006 06:22 AM

It's not like Lars can play it all the way through either.

ValeOfShadows 01-15-2006 06:47 AM

Metallica is thrash amirite.

Sph 01-15-2006 06:47 AM

Their old stuff is.

ValeOfShadows 01-15-2006 06:50 AM

I thought St Anger had a very thrashy sound.

Jev 01-15-2006 06:51 AM
I thought St Anger had a very thrashy sound.
It was more Nu-Metal.

Sph 01-15-2006 06:55 AM

Not really nu-metal, just metal. Although Frantic was kind of thrashy... almost.

iluvkirkhammett 01-15-2006 07:21 AM

How do you guys keep your albums? I burn mine the day I get them and then never play the actual CD again.

Jev 01-15-2006 07:24 AM

I keep them on a shelf next to my bed. They always end up getting trashed. I've lost the booklet for KEA, bought RTL twice because my first disc was trashed. Now I've lost the new disc. Bought MOP twice because i sat on my first copy, My AJFA's fine. My Metallica's fine, so is my Load. My Reload's case is ruined. My Garage Inc. is missing Disc 1. My S&M is missing disc 2 and I've lost my St Anger DVD.

Sph 01-15-2006 07:32 AM

St. Anger and Metallica (black album)are the only original 'Tallica albums I have, and they're in pretty good condition. All my others were burned by my uncle for my birthday.

Btw iluvkirkhammett, that's a pretty good idea.

Jev 01-15-2006 07:34 AM

I'd do it but my computer is crap at burning CDs.

Stormrider 01-15-2006 08:36 AM

I keep the cases in a cd shelf, and my cd's are put in a cd case...i need a bigger one soon though...

I think your Metallica cd's dont like you.

Joe 01-15-2006 08:40 AM

I've lost everything for my Master of Puppets cd, except the files which are still on my computer. Problem is the tracks scratch like crazy for some reason. My Orion scratches a ton around Cliff's bass solo for some reason. All my other ones are perfectly fine though...

It's a sign, Metallica hates you.

Aw3someman 01-15-2006 09:04 AM

hmm... mine are just scattered around my room. so i look for them and i find them. They're all in good condition so it's all good.

mr black 01-15-2006 09:21 AM

I'm the same, i buy the cd's and then burn them. Although to be fair, i should spite Lars and download all their albums to prove how easy it is to 'steal' music in Australia :smash:.

Has anyone ever noticed how awsome James's pretty much one string solo (5.30 roughly) in 'To live is to die' is unbelievably uber in fitting in with the song...

Britton 01-15-2006 09:28 AM
How do you guys keep your albums? I burn mine the day I get them and then never play the actual CD again.
Yea I do the same thing. It drives some people crazy...I don't see why it should they are my CD's I get ripped off buying them. I'll make asmany copys as I want

I do it cause my brother once lost a cd case on a airplane. And he had to go back out and buy 200$ worth of cd's. So I make copys.

Stormrider 01-15-2006 09:30 AM
I do it cause my brother once lost a cd case on a airplane. And he had to go back out and buy 200$ worth of cd's. So I make copys.
That realy sucks. I would hate to lose all of my cd's and have to start over...

BartDude 01-15-2006 10:15 AM

Oh damn the same thing happened to my brother about 5 years ago on an airplane. And it was right when he got off of the plane that he noticed they were missing. That's less than 2 minutes. He went back to check, and som piece of **** stole it.

I don't know what I would do if I lost all my music cause not all of it is on CD. It's on my iPod so I guess that's a good backup. But losing nearly 1,000 songs sucks.

vashts80 01-15-2006 10:34 AM
Hahaha I have nothing against Dyers Eve, it's just compared to the others its not one of my favorites. It's a pretty instense song. I almost died trying to play it on the drums.
I'd like to see you play just about any death metal then. Dyers Eve is 194bpm in mostly 16ths for the verses...Nile's Unas Slayer of the Gods fluctuates between 110 and 120bpm in 32nds for the verses

PepsiMetal 01-15-2006 11:43 AM

I just downloaded sonata Arctica's FTB. Very very nice. The solos weren't quite as good as metallica's, they were kinda too scratchy, but the rhythm sounded very nice and clean. The vocals fit the song very good too. This is the best cover for any metallica's song I've heard. I wish hammerfall does some metallica covers. That would be tight.

pep 01-15-2006 11:53 AM

I downloaded anthrax´s cover of sanitarium. Sounds a lot like metallica...

Aw3someman 01-15-2006 12:07 PM

Covers are supposed to.:smash:

Sph 01-15-2006 12:19 PM

Did 'Tallica ever release the 'elevator version' of Nothing Else Matters?

PepsiMetal 01-15-2006 12:19 PM
I thought St Anger had a very thrashy sound.
St. anger was kinda like thrash and speed I think. Doesn't sound at all like nu metal.

DaveTheAmazing 2.0 01-15-2006 12:20 PM

I just downloaded the original version of Stone Cold Crazy and Breadfan. Metallica's versions are way more fcking awesome

BartDude 01-15-2006 12:32 PM
I just downloaded the original version of Stone Cold Crazy and Breadfan. Metallica's versions are way more fcking awesome
Agreed. Stone Cold Crazy is really great Live. I love the double bass that Lars adds in the 2nd verse. I have Metallica's version of Breadfan. Hey btw who wrote the original Breadfan? I wanna download it cause Metallica's cover is really cool. All I get when I search Breadfan is Metallica's version.

timmySmi 01-15-2006 12:50 PM

I was in a local rock club last night having a couple of drinks with loads of mates. It was fully an emo fest I was just disgusted at the site I thought to myself is this were music is really heading into the 21st century? After awhile I was getting sick of the music so I went up to the DJ and was like dude you've played nothing but **** all night could you please just save your self from futher torture and embrassement and play some old school Metallica. The DJ replied yeah ok if I play you a song from Master Of Puppets you gotta promise to stop pulling your face so I said deal. Few hours later Orion came on me and my friend just got up out are seats went straight onto the dance floor and started headbanger and playing air guitar and all the emo kids just left the stage and it was just me my friend and a dew metalheads!
Then during the bass solo part a drunk guy was just screaming Cliff! Cliff! we ****ing miss you! **** Jason & **** Rob! :chug:
