they are kind of annoying, very spastic like TMV or SOAD even. i think it would take me a while to get into them if i even wanted to, but i do appreciate their unique sound.
Atlas Sound - Let The Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel
I think I only downloaded this because of the name, because I really don't enjoy Deerhunter, but this is really good, probably my favorite 08 release so far.
I heard a song from this and it was a blatant animal collective rip off. |
Yeah, it's defentiely a mix between Animal Collective, Manitoba, and Panda Bear (Person Pitch).
|
ugh
|
I need to get some Cardiacs.
Harvey Milk- Courtesy and Good Will Towards Men |
The Who - Live At Leeds
The Thermals - ****in A |
ugh
I was going to write a review for it because I kinda felt the same. I thought I'd like it more since I do like those other bands. I like the first song but then I get bored. I got the new Silver Mnt. Zion but I don't really know these guys that much and the stuff I've heard was kinda eh. Packaging is neat, though. I haven't been listening to much stuff from this year. I oughta shape up. |
William Shatner - Has Been
Enjoyable. Espcially "I can't get behind that." Who can hate shatner and rollins ranting? |
album rules 'common people' is so funny
|
Cardiacs are really annoying. I could barely get through the one album I had by them. The singer's all whiny like that douche from the Sex Pistols.
|
I am annoyed by Cardiacs usually. I guess today I just got over it.
And "common people" is an awesome song. I heard that on the radio here, never found out who it was, then later when my friend transfered me a bunch of music it was in that. I decided the whole album was worth a try. |
i finally bought Source Tags and Codes today, from a used record store for five bucks. i wish i had gotten the actual album sooner, not only cause the songs need to be gapless, but the artwork in the lyrics booklet is great.
|
I was sorting albums in the back of the store the other day (I work at HMV) and I found an album of Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner doing space-themed acoustic duets.
Today; Dr. Dre - The Chronic The Doors - OST My Bloody Valentine - Isn't Anything |

I own it on vinyl, found it when I went to see Envy :D |
Warning- Watching From a Distance
What initially put me off from this is the production, but now I appreciate it. This band is so fucking great. |
Howlin Rain - Magnificent Fiend
Jack Rose - I Do Play Rock And Roll Chris Corsano, Ben Chasny / Paul Metzger split |
Deerhunter - Cryptograms
Pretty sweet. |
David Dondero - Simple Love
Acoustic love songs. This is the first album of his that I've listened to completely; it was a good experience. |
i have seen some band names floating around this thread, please tell me more about the following:
Kind Of Like Spitting Off Minor This Heat Harvey Milk thanks :) |
Kind of Like Spitting - you'd like them. Kind of like a more emo GVB. I dunno.
|

checked em (or "him" really) out on last.fm... you should have just said "like Rocky Votolato" cause i would have known what you were talkin about. i dunno, not really feelin it. really seems like more of a poet strumming a guitar than a songwriter. and as you know, im all about the music and words themselves take a backseat. i really didnt even need to ask, i guess. last.fm does the work for me. lol Harvey Milk sounds so Melviny |
Off Minor is like really good technical sounding emo with members of Saetia from what I remember
|
Yeah man. They were so ahead of their time as well. Mind blowingly original and good.
even in a period of a ridiculous amount of musical innovation they still stand out as one of the most interesting and original. haha I remember reading a letter to a national newspaper that said they invented drum and bass |
Swans - The Annihilator
This be some cool shit. |
Harvey Milk are a lot like the Melvins, great stuff.
This Heat still blow my mind when I think of when their stuff was actually released. "Sleep" is such a great song. It seems like at times that they just picked up where off where Can started to suck and just went from there. Off Minor are one of those screamo bands I like, due to them being interesting and jazzy. |
I was listening to Harvey Milk lying in my bed last night. It was major chill.
Captain Beefheart - Safe As Milk Who can't like the captain? |
The Octopus Project - Hello, Avalanche
Reminds me somewhat of Holy Fuck. |
Elvis Costello - Armed Forces
|
Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell
Don't know why I didn't check this out sooner, it's kickin'. |
Re-up Gang - We Got it 4 Cheap Vol.3
Awesome recent mix-tape from Clipse and friends. Nick Cave & Warren Ellis - The Assasination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert FordThis is brilliant. |
Have A Nice Life - Deathcociojcoc
Cows - Cunning Stunts |
Hüsker Dü - New Day Rising
Not as good as Zen Arcade, but still pretty awesome. |
new day rising is waaaaaaay better
|
Eliminator, you and I agree on many things.
This is not one of them. |
Cows - Cunning Stunts
Good. Ghost- Second Time Around |
minutemen - double nickels on the dime
it doesnt feel right listening to this while not driving around during the summer |
Been digging on the Tunng - Good Arrows album lately.
|
Gate - The Dew Line
Residents - The Commercial Album |
howlin rain - magnificent friend
|
Larry Ochs Sax & Drumming Core - Up From Under
It's like ROVA, except it's just that one guy from ROVA. |
