You get my point.

You and I both know that if the Trojans lose this game the voters are going to hold it against Leinart/Bush..."remember when he blew it against Oregon?" It killed Larry Johnson a few years back when he rushed for 2100 yards but struggled against Michigan and OSU.

That's true.

The whole team needs a big improvement fast. Everything is being rushed, and it obviously isn't doing any good. This is also our defense's biggest challenge so far, and they look very unprepared. Bush and White are both looking weak too.

Of course, the Heisman voting itself is flawed because every region votes for "their guy"---like when Eric Crouch won it in 2001 (by far the worst selection of the past 10 years, which is saying something) because he won the Southwest and Midwest regions, who voted for him because he went to Nebraska and was "their guy". Rex Grossman, who finished in second, won the South and Mid-Atlantic because he went to Florida, but lost the Southwest and Far West (which was won by Joey Harrington, who went to Oregon) and finished second to last in the Midwest.

Just an example.

That's true. I'm not surprised though how biased it is regionally. I can't imagine most of the Southwest and Far West going for Leinart though, 'SC is the most hated team around here. Maybe I'm just underestimating it though. If it's a pure region vote, then sure, he'd definitely get the vote.

Illmatic 09-24-2005 06:27 PM

Well, considering a USC player on the Heisman last year, I don't think that would be a big problem.

Iron Man 09-24-2005 06:32 PM

I just found out about the band Suidakra about a week ago (!) and I downloaded two albums. I fucking love this band already, and that's an accomplishment for only having two of their albums. Definitely one of my favorites.
No one likes a repeat.
No one likes a repeat of a player, but I don't think many teams have trotted out two Heisman trophy candidates in a row.

Kurtz 09-24-2005 06:38 PM

If memory serves right, OSU and Army are the only other schools to have repeat winners.

Illmatic 09-24-2005 06:43 PM

Like I said, most teams only really have one Heisman canidate, so it's difficult for a team to trot out two winners in a row.

And OU almost did it last year, but Peterson lost to Leinart, who I think finished in the top 5 or 6 just one year after Palmer won it.

Kurtz 09-24-2005 06:46 PM

Yeah, most teams are lucky just to have two players Heisman-worthy, let alone having one player two years in a row.

I never really had problems, per se, I just lost all my bookmarks. Everything else has been smooth sailing, which I am glad to say. I still don't know how to use Ad-Blocker, unfortunately.

PS: thanks again for helping me out earlier. Better late than never, heh :)

Endless Obsession 09-24-2005 06:53 PM

It would help OSU's case for a national title so much if Oregon wins.

Shattered_Future 09-24-2005 09:18 PM

Just spent 9 hours at my friend's house, SUPPOSEDLY working on our song...which never got done.

Spent most of the time making rave songs, screwing around with his bass effect pedal (that thing is so COOOL!), and watching internet movies.

Highlights...staring at a SG I can't afford, me smashing his fan light with his bass (by accident, of course), his bass shorting out midway through a song, making a keyboard line that sounds like both of us were on an acid trip.

After that, went to the mall...saw many cds that both of us wanted. Unfortunately, we could only afford 12 dollar cds. Soooo...he got Character by Dark Tranquillity (awesome cd), and I got Alien by Strapping Young Lad.

What else...left Hot Topic (I had to look for a chain for my brother...apparently, they're "all out", which is almost like Michael Jackson liking women...its unholy) with Ghost Of Perdition by Opeth blasting in their headphones. (I was suprised at this...Opeth is getting a lot more commercial these days). We left the Mac store with Lost To Apathy by Dark Tranquillity blasting on a computer, and just started making random death growls/grunts/coughs at passerby.

Rather tiring, but hella fun. :D

This thread does not deliver today. :(

So, today I worked for 11.5 hours. zomg!

Also, last night, our football team lost 61-3. That brings the season total to us being outscored 200-20.

Where do you work?

Good gawd, my team doesn't even suck that much to loose 61-3. Actually, we're 2-1, out best start in 4 years. But then again, we've played some really easy teams so far.

I work on my dad's farm. You know, the first US case of Mad Cow? That farm.

Well, we're really not that bad. It was a combination of things. First, the team we played has gone to state every since like, football was invented. Secondly, it was their homecoming, so they were pumped. We got owned. :(

NP: Pink Floyd- Dark Side of the Moon

Man, I haven't listened to Pink Floyd in such a long time. This is great.

Cain 09-24-2005 10:23 PM

Sup guys, just saw "Corpse Bride" and thought it was hysterical. Also, played my first all-electric set at one of my friends' impromptu shows (this one was held in the laundry room of my house :p) and it was pretty cool. How are your nights going?

Kurtz 09-24-2005 10:24 PM
We got owned. :(
I'd say.

This year our team got this new head coach from Phoenix who used to coach a team that used to go to always win and go to championships all the time. So yeah, this season will hopefully be a huge improvement

EDIT to Cain: how many goths were in the theater?

My night's been good so far, pretty quiet so far. I might go Long Beach to hang out with some friends I haven't seen in a while in a little.
EDIT to Cain: how many goths were in the theater?

None, actually. It's a good movie, to be honest, but it operates on a typically weird level as it's directed by Tim Burton, and so won't be appreciated by everyone. It's also too short and ends horribly. But the visual style and art direction is superior to the Nightmare Before Christmas, IMO.

Clay-mation has really come a long way since Nightmare Before Christmas so I would hope it's better.

Dude3 09-24-2005 11:29 PM

I love the way Nightmare Before Christmas looks. And I guess its a good movie too. Although, I have no interest in seeing Corpse Bride.

I hate seeing all that NBC merchandise everywhere. Dang hot topic. First those pants, now this. They ruin it for all of us, and load up the "goth" kids.

Notice the quotation marks.

tight pants?

What's with the no caps to your sentences, and the misspelling of "hear?" Are you drunk/high, or are you just in a spamming phase?

eh, it's fine...I'm usually pretty impeccable about that kinda stuff :p so I guess it's natural to assume something's up.

Bartender 09-25-2005 05:32 AM

I rather want to see The Corpse Bride. It's not out over here yet, though. Maybe I'll go see a different film today, instead.

Asylum
Goal
Howl's Moving Castle
Land of the Dead
Revolver
Pride and Prejudice
The Lords of Dogtown
Wolf Creek
Green Street
The Longest Yard
The Man
Red Eye
40 Year Old Virgin
Charlie and The Chocolate Factory

^ seem to be my choices. Can anyone recommend/warn me off from any of them? I was thinking Land of the Dead or Revolver, but with no great conviction.

Ad Absurdum 09-25-2005 06:48 AM

Green Street is brilliant, it's along the lines of Football Factory.

I've only seen adverts for it, and it looked like Glasgow on an Old Firm match day.

And what sort of person comes up with orange and chilli vodka? that stuff is pure evil.

Bartender 09-25-2005 07:22 AM

It does sound rather evil. Vodka (with rare exceptions) sucks for every purpose except just getting drunk, though.

This weekend, I have mostly been learning how to order/drink a martini.

Arucard 09-25-2005 07:24 AM

This weekend i have mainly been drinking a coctail called the 007, which costs 4 quid :\
