I heard otherwise but regardless, I heard the third act of the movie was absolutely awful so I won't bother seeing it anytime soon.
I liked the third act a lot, but I'm not gonna pretend to be some sort of movie expert or even pretend to have good taste in movies for that matter. The movie was astonishingly good. It was the best movie I've seen since 300...

Tyler 12-15-2007 03:10 PM

It's all a matter of taste, for sure, I've just heard that it sort of collapsed at that point.

I just really would rather read the book first, even if they are as different as I've heard. I'll see it eventually, because I'm a fan of those types of movies. There was one that came out mid-80s and I loved it as a kid, but I can't remember what it was called. It started with some kid in a record store, and had lots of shots on the streets, in daylight.

NemesisDivina 12-15-2007 03:12 PM

I'm gonna read the book very soon. Conveniently, my brother bought it to read it recently.

Robert Neville is described as a caucasian blond-haired blue-eyed German male in the book.

I think its a Jack Russell. I'm not too good with dog types.
Jack Russell crossed with something else, I'd think.

Valhall 12-15-2007 03:52 PM

I really didn't think 300 was all that great, Matt....?

AA-12 12-15-2007 03:53 PM

I loved 300 but it was a bit overhyped.

That dog is so cute :)

Valhall 12-15-2007 03:54 PM

I mean, it's a good movie, but as much as it was pumped up, I was a bit let down.

AA-12 12-15-2007 03:55 PM

I might see I Am Legend later. I hope it's good. Like I said before though, Smith fanboy = loving it either way :p

Valhall 12-15-2007 03:56 PM

I enjoy Will Smith movies....except the MIB movies got boring after the first view.

He's a great actor though. Though he, like most actors, absolutely hates doing ADR.

Riva 12-15-2007 03:58 PM

BRA drops irrelevant knowledge ITT

NemesisDivina 12-15-2007 04:16 PM

Whatever, I liked 300 a lot. I was obsessed with ancient Greek history a while ago, and the battle of Thermopylae was one of my favorite stories... so yeah. I liked it :p

Valhall 12-15-2007 04:19 PM
BRA drops irrelevant knowledge ITT
How is it irrelevant? Half of being a good actor is being good at ADR, whether the actor likes doing it or not, because production audio is rarely used in its entirity.

Matt: I liked it too, don't get me wrong, and I like those kinds of movies. It just wasn't the epic I thought it would be.

Tyler 12-15-2007 04:20 PM

ADR being

Valhall 12-15-2007 04:21 PM

Automatic Dialogue Replacement (Or Alternative Dialogue Replacement). It's a major part of post production.

Redoing dialogue in the studio after filming. Actores have to be extremely good at lip-syncing with vdeo and maintaining the passion of the moment they had while on-set. Smith is very good at it.

I'm watching Darkness Falls right now. I forgot about this movie. It's quite enjoyable.

It just so obviously shoe-horned in because it's your field and you like to remind people of it. :p

And you didn't say whether or not he was good at ADR, just that he hated it.

last.fm is being a bitch

GenuineImitation 12-15-2007 05:01 PM

Hey guys hows it going?

Im not a big film buff so Im a little confused with what ADR stands for...

Riva 12-15-2007 05:01 PM

Is it not recording plays for you or something?

Eliminator 12-15-2007 05:05 PM

No, it won't let me change my avatar/edit my profile. Every time I upload an image it says "Maximum size 160×160 pixels (gif/jpg/png), larger images will be resized," even though the picture is the right file type and all of that. When I try to change one of the image links in my profile it "loads" and shows the exact same page as it did before.

GenuineImitation 12-15-2007 05:07 PM

I know it took my page a awhile to have the picture update after I changed it. Maybe just wait a bit and then retry it if it doesnt change by that point.

Valhall 12-15-2007 05:10 PM

Hey victor, I explained ADR on the last page :thumb:

Jason: Yea, I know :p

Riva 12-15-2007 05:11 PM

It took about 24 hours for me to get my updated page to show, once.

People used to wear raincoats to dirty movies if they wanted to have a bit of a fiddle with themselves and not let others know about it.
